If he fights and beats Judah, than fights Margarito or Williams after that A fight with mosley and last Floy or De lahoya or even Hatton. You think he will be consider as one of the greatest.
this is just stupid.
if he beats this guy, and this guy, and this guy, and this guy, and this guy. thats just fanciful thinking, not probable or even possible in any way. there is no way in heaven, earth, or hell that cotto or anybody for that matter will face so many elite fighters.
especially not in this day and age of boxing.
I disagree, there's a lot of great fights scheduled this year that will turn boxing around, promoters are finally negotiating to give the fans the fights they wanna see. Cotto will have a chance to prove himself, I think he can be his biggest enemy at this point.

yea but mayweather is just a runner he aint a real fighter id consider cotto an atg before mayweather plus hes stop everyone that mayweather could not .......personally i belive he will go down as an atg
cotto should actually look at the past couple years of floyds career and say to himself "thats exactly what NOT to do"
floyd has pissed away a sterling early career resume with boring mismatches down the backstretch, cotto needs to realize that sometimes you get more respect for fighting the best and losing a great fight than you do for beating the shit out of the henry brusseles' of the world
I Dont Think He Will
there are too many good fighters and good matchups at 147 for an all time great not to rise to the top
between mayweather, hatton, cotto, williams.. it seems like cotto is the one who is most willing to take the tough fights and physically strongest of the bunch.... plus he is young, he can accomplish a hell of a lot more in the next 5 years than mayweather did in his last 5
absolutly, cotto will keep winning fights and will always be remembered for having a brutal left hook to the body....imo
btw-cotto is gonna beat judah worse then he did malignaggi
cotto is still young and workin is way up, who knws if he wil be the greatest. but i think he is, he is a good fighter, plus he has much more experience to gain.
Come on, man, he's not even close to finishing his career. He has to finish his career and wait a few years before people start to even consider him an ATG.
Look at Floyd. His fans will argue for it but most people just blow it off because his career isn't over.
If he fights and beats Judah, than fights Margarito or Williams after that A fight with mosley and last Floy or De lahoya or even Hatton. You think he will be consider as one of the greatest.
If he fought and beat Mayweather or Mosley he would have a shot.
That will NOT happen, however.
I think it's far too soon to consider him an all time great. He's already considered an elite fighter, though he hasn't really beaten anyone of real note. Judah is a step in the right direction though.
As said Cotto is another of a long line that has potential to achieve. I couldnt name off hand how many there are at the moment. There are many who have potential and dont fulfil their potential. Maybe Cotto will fulfill his potential but his potential just wasnt good enough.
Time will tell. And i look forward to knowing how good he is. There are lots of boxers i want to know how good they will be. There are more highly rated boxers than Cotto that i also want to know how good they will eventually be.
My Opinion Its the following if he beats Judah either by KO or TKO or beats him worse than what May did than he goes and fights the winner of Marg and Williams than after that fight he would have to fight either Hatton or Mosley that there alone would make him one of the Greatest ever. It will be a tough task but I think if Cotto comes well prepare physically and mentaly he can beat any one at the 147 division.
i think he could be a GOAT, but he wont be.
Williams could be a possible future hall of famer. A few great fights with Willams could boost Cottos stock.
Wins over Judah, Hatton, Baldomir... these are all very good wins that could get him HOF status.
But if hes still undefeated in 3 years or so, there has to be another big name on the uprise that can beat him. And if he loses to him hes gotta win the rematch.
Someone will come up, it just depends on where cottos career is, at that moment in time
Obviously he has alot too prove but the Thread starter said IF he Fights and Beats............
So If he duz then surely his greatness is beyond dispute?
Great champions and legends always fight top opponents more often than unknown, weak opposition. Cotto would have to step his game up on every fight and take on some strong oppossition then........maybe.
