.....Wow, look at the bolded in particular below.
Emanuel Steward (Wladimir Klitschko's trainer): "We have a great deal of respect for Ray Austin, more than Ray apparently has for Wlad judging by his comments at the first press conference. I have the same respect for Ray that we had for Chris Byrd."
After one minute of the first round everything will change for Ray Austin when he realizes who he is in the ring with. Wladimir is on a different level and at age 30, he's already entering his 51st fight. Ray Austin is running into the growth and progression of Wlad.
"Those watching the fight are going to be lucky enough to see the emergence of one of the greatest heavyweights ever, Wladimir Klitschko."
A fine physical specimen, with a lot of skills and power, no question about that. I think some of the praising goes over the top though. Unfortunate or not, he has a weak side to him, one which will probably never go away. He has three losses on his record, none of which have been avenged. He has work to do to before truly big things can be said about him; I don't think he'll ever be mentioned up there with the best though.
The reality is, his only loss that would be worth avenging is to Brewster, Purity is history and Sanders is 41 years old and grossly out of shape.

And yet Byrd got hit NON stop in 2 fights with Kilts and couldn't land shit..
The rest of what you typed.. is what you wish.. NOT reality...
And I refuse to comment on it any further.. The stuff I highlighted says All I need to say..
Well W.Klit got hit nonstop and KOed by Sanders and gassed, collapsed and was KOed by Brewster, he barley escaped a loss to Davaryl Williamson when he was gassing and dropped, he was dropped 3 times by Sam Peter (Toney was only dropped once in two fights with Wlad because he actually has skill and can slip punches like I said) and literally held on for dear life to win. It brutally batted Bryd landing more than anybody has but he couldnt knock Byrd out. This stuf says all I need to say.
He's trained many, many fighters over the years and trains many now. He's rarely called any of them one of the greatest ever.
I think offensively, he's right. You won't find many heavyweights in history who have a better overall jab, hook and straight right hand than Wlad. Maybe one, but all three? The only problem is his offense is everything, it's his defense, too.
So when a fighter gets past his offense and gets inside he is still a little shaky and he still seems to panic a little, especially early, when he's faced with naked agression. That all stems from Sanders. He may never totally put that fight behind him, even if he continues to win and dominate. Anyone who has watched many of his fights pre- and post-Sanders knows what I mean.
As for someone saying he doesn't want to unify- I don't know if you're that stupid or just hating. That is probably his *main* goal- unification. They practically begged on their hands and knees to make Maskaev Wlad's next fight. Vitali's comeback is going to sideline that for now, it seems...and/or the Peter title shot. They've both wanted to hold simultaneous world titles for years, so it looks like that is the focus now and the main reason for the Vitali comeback. King has the other two belts on lockdown as anyone who has an inkling of how boxing works knows full well.
King just needs to fucking DIE already.
He trains Wlad...
Of course he's going to say that Wlad is the greatest.

12-1 means that to win 1 dollar you gotta bet 12 right?
that is correct sir
if you had been "in the know" about brewster/klitschko....
a 1000 bet on lamon would won you 12,000 bucks minus the juice (5%)
very profitable to fix a fight like that wouldnt you say?
right now ray austin is a 10-1 underdog and i can guarantee you that line will not move in austins favor at any point... even if they drugged wlad hed still knock austin out before the effects set in
In all fairness, Hitman, I don't recall it it was 13-1 or 12-1 at the beginning, I could be wrong, but I do know it was a two digit number. And yes, it would have to ahve been a HUGE bet.
actually it would have had to been a series of huge bets....
a single one would have been to easy to trace back
almost nobody here undertands gambling enough to know how unprecedented that is.... (we're not betting points here) or the magnitude of the betting that would be required to move a betting line that much.....
since that fight happened there has not been one single example of a fighter going from even say 6-1 down to 3-1..... someone would have literally had to bet millions upon millions on lamon brewster
i cannot say without a doubt that the above parapgraph is true... but i study the lines on every single fight that even the smallest books offer a line on and quite honestly have never seen anything like the brewster/klitshcko odds change neither before or after.........

Anyone ever wonder why the odds on Brewster suddenly went from around 13-1 all the way down to 4-1 just two hours before fight time? Come on fellas. We all know the answer.

I am like the biggest wlad fan on this board(well probably the oldest). My calling myself a cunt means that I become very nervous, humorless and easily irretable a week before Wlad fights.
yeah i usually get the same way
but like i told my buddy
i would stand as good a chance at beating ray austin
as ray austin does at beating wladamir klitschko
ill be surprised if this goes 3 rounds...
i cant get over how ray austin thinks hes gonna win cause "hes as tall as klitschko" and i also had to laugh when austins trainer said theyre "about the same weight" which means ray is gonna weigh more cause hes so damn sloppy looking
Offensively he is as skilled a fighter as we have in the division, hell offensively he stacks up there with most of the elite offensive fighters regardless of weight.
His chin however is extremely shacky and this is reason number 1 why some folks arent big Klit fans....
There is nothing wrong with Wlad's chin. He KO loss to Sanders was legit. Sanders knocked him down four times and every time Wlad kept getting up to fight on. Someone with a glass chin, like, say, Etienne, goes down and stays down when they get clocked. Wlad has never done that. He has he heart of a champion and always fights on.
His loss to Brewster was anything but legit and anyone who doesn't think that there was something seriously wrong in that fight (and I'm not talking about Wlad's stamina) they are deluding themselves or know nothing about the fight game. We KNOW a criminal element exists in professional boxing. Satan himself is a promoter, and he goes by the name Don King.

As far as his kd versus Williamson is concerned, we all know what a flash knockdown is. Wlad was off balance as was obvious from the replay, and he got caught. It has nothing to do with his chin and everything to do with his balance at the time he was hit. Same thing happened to James Toney when he was caught with that jab from Sam Peter. He was off balance.
And speaking of Peter, when he fought Wlad, not one of the kd's was legit. None of them, NOT ONE (and I'll give a hundred bucks to whoever can prove me wrong) were resultant of Wlad going down from a punch landed by Peter.
Even the commentators said as much. Wlad was either pushed down or was off balance.
In fact he took the best punch Peter has and didn't go down. That massive left hook that usually knocks everyone else out, DIDN"T knock out Wlad. Oh but we forget that when we're belittling him.
Im sure I'll get branded a Wlad nuthugger and possibly a conspiracy theorist for this but I have to say what I feel.
Steward is a good trainer and Klitschko has skill. Under the tutelage of Manny we're seeing some refinement and the classic ability of Steward to teach tall fighters to use their height effectively. He's going to hype his boy as much as he can, obviously, but I think he's right about Klitschko being a very good heavyweight. Now that he knows his own flaws, and has someone teaching him to circumvent them through his strengths, he's a very formidable opponent. Best of the current champions.
Excellent post, Njord. Have some rep.
naah, its just my usual routine of turning into a bitter cunt the week before Wlad fights.
lol, at least youre honest
let me be honest.....
the reason i like wladamir is cause he is a guy who hit rock bottom when he lost to brewster, when i say that i mean it, rock bottom as in foreman/ali rock bottom.... he had every reason to never get up (figuratively) and yet he has and he has come back quite obviously, and much to my amazement, as a better fighter and a better person.... he was never a bad guy obviously, but his failures have completely humbled him, he is really the only heavyweight left right now that i believe shows true respect for the sport through proper training, weight management, knowledge of history, desire to unify.... etc etc... he WANTS a LEGACY, all the other guys WANT MONEY.... If WLadamir made the fights, he would fight anyone and everyone but he doesent....
my favorite thing in sports is seeing the guy who has been counted out... the guy who went undrafted, the guy who got cut from the team, the guy who collapsed in the final round.... comeback and prove em all wrong... wladamir is just another in a long line of professional athletes who have managed to go underappreciated despite an outstanding resume...
really the only thing not to like him, is his alleged glass chin, which i dont really buy either..... one of these days when i have the technology im gonna go through and compile some of the big shots that wladamir was taken that havent put him down.... peter hit him with some big shots and the left hook that brewtser hit him with damn near took his head off and he didnt go down...
if it were really put to the test i believe his chin grades out as "average"
i dont think aside from mccall, tyson, vitali there are too many heavies who could take the shots that knocked wlad out and themselves keep fighting..
AND REMEMBER HE IS ONLY 30!!!!! aside from peter, wlad is the youngest top ten fighter in the heavy division.
skill?? the way Toney and Byrd slip punches and fire back counters takes skill, the way mosley and de le hoya set up 6-7 punch lighting fast combos shows skill, pawing with th jab and leaning on people while gassing out does not show skill. WladimIr Klitschko has power and thats it. He has no stamina, no head movment, no pressure, no footwork, no blazing speed, no combos, no chin, he paws with the jab and leaves it out alot, all he does is look for the big right hand and he holds when the opponent gets to close.
the same byrd that wlad just crushed. i guess he couldn't slip those punches
Sanders does not have an iron chin. I believe all of his fights he lost he has been stopped.
Sanders's chin is alright. He took a lot of punishment from Vitali before being stopped on his feet (plus he was tired and not in good condition), went down 2x against Rahman (he wasn't seriously hurt) before being stopped on his feet when taking a lot of shots....on the other hand he was taken out with 1 shot from Nate Tubbs.
His chin is alright. Not iron but not weak either.
naah, its just my usual routine of turning into a bitter cunt the week before Wlad fights.
Remember that the fighters you love to hate are often just as important to you as the ones you love to love.
I hated Lewis and Tito but Fuckin A I loved to watch them with the off chance they would get iced.
