it is not like hearns fought anyone relevant at cruiser. he fought bums. the current heavys are heavys and not cruisers and good enough to be on top of this deep (ironic) hw division. Iran Barkley knocked out Thomas Hearns, therefore any heavyweight has the power to knockout hearns (with the possible exception of Chris Byrd). robinson was a middleweight for two years of his prime, and he came in for title fights around 157. I dont think you want to suggets that the robinson in his late 30s and 40s would be a heavyweight champ. Leonard's run at middle and above was pathetic when compared to the rest of his career, which should tell you something about how well he could have handled heavyweights. also leonard did not fight a single middleweight fight until 87, so definitely not "the latter half of his career". I wish you were right, because I love hagler, but rememer hagler's power is only in one hand and he was 5'9". Also, and this i am even more sad to point out, I dont think he had the boxing iq to fight at HW. Jones and Toney are smart fighters, Hagler is not. On the chin you are quite right, Hagler has one of the most incredible chins ever, he would be able to take a few shots at heavy IMO. i agree with that, to the point that i barely follow HW boxing, but the middleweight limit is 160, heavys are 200 and above nowadays. that's 40 pounds of difference. you better be a big middleweight i am force to agree with you. dammit!!

yeah but i dont know, you may be right for robinson and hagler. these heavys suck so much ass. Since I almost stopped watching them, i cant gouge exactly how much they suck. In any other era I would not give srr or hagler a single chance, though.

You dont think 03' Toney could beat Briggs or Maskaev? I don't fucking know, to be honest. It would depend on who judges it. And it would be hard to judge. but Toney couldn't crack even Maskaev's weak chin, he'd roll a bunch of punches, take some huge rights, sneak in fast jabs and counters, and it would be impossible to say who won. I can't even draw a mental picture of Toney-Briggs.

From the past 50 years I can think of Dick Tiger, Carlos Monzon, Bernard Hopkins. But seriously Jones and Toney were both freaks of nature, think about it: the 156 pounds olympic silver medallist walks to the middle of the ring and shoots a right in hte face of a HW "champ". the former football player, MW champ, SMW champ looks fat as shit and dodges 90% of punches HW throw at him at age 35. when he gets hit by one of the hardest puncher in the entire division, he just takes it. I am convinced that in a few years, when all the screaming haters lose interestm, the nostalgics are dead and fights and records will speak for themselves, Jones and Toney will be mentioned in discussions about all time great fighters just like the great fighters from the past.
