Upon hearing rumors swirling in the media that his fighter WBO super featherweight champion Joan Guzman passed on a proposed bout with Humberto Soto, Guzman's manager Jose Nunez issued the following statement. "I just wanted to set the record straight. Joan Guzman had no knowledge of an offer from Soto's people. An offer was made to me but they were giving Joan a four week notice and that is not hardly enough time to prepare for that caliber of a fighter. All we're asking for is sufficient time and we'll accept the fight without hesitation. The same goes for Manny Pacquiao who is Joan's mandatory and the Juan Manuel Marquez-Marco Antonio Barrerra winner. We're looking to be in the biggest fights. That's what the fans want and we want to deliver that for them.
This WOULD be one of the 5 best fights that could be made out there. Both guys are young, sharp, workhorses who are tough as fuck. It'd be like a more skilled version of Margarito/Williams.
Joan Guzman is many times the fighter Paul Williams is.

Joan himself was not aware of the offer, his manager was, and he declined. There is no contradiction there.

Thats the same thing I was thinking, why dont they just move the date?
I'll let the posters decide whats a misleading title. There are many ways to interpret things and many different perspectives. As we've heard one, we'll hear more.
:lol1: If you say so......But really it makes sense fuck what the other posters think.:D
I read that earlier and think the title is misleading.....If you read it which I am sure you did, it makes sense why he turned down the fight....for now.
