Serious question. I've watched the press conference with Oscar, and, wow, Floyd is special. He dosen't have any attention, he can't stay in place for more than 3 seconds, he answers questions in a manner that means "leave me alone". I've also watched that video with the rappers and the cute girls, he had a lot of inter-activity problem.
So, how would you describe him? The guy is clearly not normal.
-hyper activity?
-anti-social behavior?
-agoraphobia?
It does surprise me that we somehow look back at Ali, perhaps due to his illness, and forget how brash and acid-tongued he was. Muhammad pulled no punches in or outside the ring. As it was said, in a politically charged atmosphere where Ali was synonymous with black power- with the ability for the black man to use whatever gifts he was given to rise above prejudice he called Joe Frazier 'an uncle Tom' and the white man's black. That he wasn't true to his race, etc. He really made Frazier feel like shit. Complete crap. It wasn't a 'ha ha' that's funny incident. Sometimes Ali used his intelligence, and comical, charismatic nature to create more clever barbs to fling at his opponents. Accuse Floyd of not being half as clever or smart as Ali, not for talking trash...
a n!gga who doesnt give a fuck what you think, alot of you dont encounter them, but im a around them everyday of my life, so all these psychoanalyzation means nothing.
Ali bashed others in a comical, play to the media sense.
Floyd is just an asshole. He's not funny, he doesn't try to be either.
play to the media my ass. he called frazier an uncle tom.
ali was an asshole multiple times. an asshole with an ocean of charisma, but still an asshole. end of the story
Pfffffffftttttttt. If everyone was as nice as DLH boxing would be boring. I found PBF performance annoying, but interesting. Just like Naseem Hamed against Barrera, it will be funny when Mayweather ends up on his ass.
He will end up on his ass. He's entering a different class....even though DLH is not a shadow of his former self. Why do you think PBF is taking the fight? Because he believes that DLH won't catch the younger guy. Is he in for a surprise!!
Is not that a fear of heights?
Anyways, I been long saying that Floyd is not right in the head. Another thing could be is that he is just very shy and unconfident in front of a public, so his act is wild.
Agoraphobia is an intense fear about being in public places where you feel escape might be difficult.
I think PBF is a nutcase and needs a good hiding!
No matter what people will just keep hating on Mayweather because of jealousy, He is the most talented fighter out there and his mouth talks to sell those PPV's, He is not like this in real life, So what if he disses fighters? So did Ali, and people hated Ali as well but after a few years people started loving him, Mayweather will be hated like this for many years as well but then after retirement people will start to love him how great he was. You guys dont realise how lucky you are to see Mayweather fight in this era, He is a modern legend, He is the Pep and Whitaker of this era.

Honestly, I haven't seen Floyd's attitude that he's better than all other boxers. I mean, he says it in a braggadocios manner but I have never seen an attitude that really looks haughty to me.
This is my take- because of my psych. major I try and get inside people's heads- I think Floyd Mayweather feels unappreciated. He has had some very tough fights. He has had some very good performances. Yet, it does often seem that Floyd gets a constant nod of, "Yes, he is extremely good...pound for pound.." and yet, despite his new fanboys, for most of his career he hasn't been a fan favorite. Respected for his skill, to an extent, but never loved. Honestly, I don't think that's because of his attitude. I think his attitude came as a result of this. I think he hasn't be a fan favorite because of one simple thing. Something other small men who moved up in weight, like Sugar Shane Mosley and Oscar De la Hoya, have but that he lacks. Power. Floyd will never be a Leonard...fast, quick, attractive- and powerful. He'll always be a smaller man fighting an uphill battle. The general public likes knockouts. Those who prefer heavyweights like knockouts. Anyone who doesn't care for dancing and the sweet science and prefer brawls wants knockouts. Floyd will never give that...and therefore many people see his virtuoso performances as boring. He reacts with outrage, anger, and consequently immature comments about those that criticize him.
That's my take.
I agree. Pretty much the way I feel as well.
Ultimately, if you can back up the trash talking and give the fans a great fight, you've done your job.
I think PBF is confident in his legacy and in his financial future regardless what anyone thinks.
Same goes for Oscar.
also Ali was poetic and breaking new ground with the way he talked smack before a fight. He was far more respectful to most and flat out funny. I dont see much of a comparison between Ali and Mayweather really.
I think you nailed it in the second part- he was funny. I don't think he was very respectful, honestly, I just think he was far more witty than most boxers. Muhammad Ali was a very charismatic, intelligent speaker. Most boxers follow his guidelines but lack his verbal abilities. That's the only difference. Where he could make an insult intelligent and actually humorous, most boxers have to settle for aggressive and threatening.
Its true that Ali helped promote the fight with his comments about Frazier, Its also true that many of those comments made by Ali seemed sincere, ugly, and below low. He was wrong to go as far as he did in some instances. But trash talking other boxers isn't what I have a problem with when we discuss Mayweather's behavior. Hey trash talk all you want talk about the guys momma whatever its a fight, My prob is his attitude and arrogance, the way he feels above criticism of any kind the delusion he holds that all boxers of present are so below him. just my opinion tho.

Do those of you who have no knowledge of boxing history want to understand the trash talking that now occurs? It was started by the "great one" Ali himself. He merged the idea of a boxer being an athlete with the idea of a boxer being an entertainer. While others spoke their peace in the ring Ali ran his mouth outside it, too. He made people want to watch him. He made talk shows want to have him as a guest. He wrote the book Mayweather is following.
Ali:
""Joe Frazier is so ugly that when he cries, the tears turn around and go down the back of his head." Is that nice?
"This is the legend of Muhammad Ali, The greatest fighter that ever will be. He talks a great deal and brags, indeed. Of a powerful punch and blinding speed. Ali fights great, he's got speed and endurance. If you sign to fight him, increase your insurance. Ali's got a left, Ali's got a right; If he hits you once, you're asleep for the night..." If that's not braggadocios what is? People ignore it because he had a big punch.
He even called Joe Frazier a gorilla in what many saw, and he never disputed, was a racial remark sent his way- as being an Uncle Tom of sorts. Sure, after the fights he would gush praise (sound familiar ?) - but in the pre-fight he said nasty things. Ali wrote the book on this stuff. Leonard talked trash, too. Many of the hall of famers and greats did. So what do I think of Mayweather? I think he's a young fighter trying to do what he thinks is the right thing to make himself money. Based on how his board is buzzing from his trash talk, he's right...

What's so annoying is.......people keep reiterating the same bullshit over and over like: "You just hate Floyd because he's the best. People always hate on the best fighter"
That's so retarded.....because Floyd is the one opening up his mouth...randomly attacking different figures in the sport and making an ass out of himself on television. I could understand if someone was hating on Winky......sure you could say the reason is because they're "Jealous" or whatever.....but in Floyd's case it's because he's a fucking asshole.
It has nothing to do with how good of a fighter he is.....he's a dickhead. If you think he's a nice guy, and he's charming.....you're a homo, female, or idiot.
I don't think he's a dickhead. It doesn't matter if he attacks other people in the sport, because he is the best in the sport. Pound for Pound.
yeah you're one of the homos he's talkin about. whether or not he's p4p makes no difference on what he can or can't get away when he's slinging bullshit. Being a fan of this guy's boxing accomplishments should'nt excuse the retarded remarks and arrogant BS that flows from him whenever he's interviewed or in front of a mic. I will say I respect the holiday giveaway he does in Flint but outside of that give some examples of why not to dislike him, you can't so get real and stop making excuses for this guy.

The Majority of successful people at the top are always criticised and ridiculed for their behavior in life. Meanwhile they develop thick skin and usually laugh all the ways to bank.
The question that should be asked is: How will his/her behavior affect my/your right to live and act however we please?
Now, everyone is responsible for their own life no matter what anyone says.
You reap and sow the consequences of your own life regardless.
In a boxing context, I personally would hate to see any fighter sacrifice all the work: blood, sweat and tears to reach the top and blow it all on some nonsensical act of ego gratification, whatever way that plays out.
In the end, the great contributions you make in society will either make you immortal or condemn you in the eyes the world.
Your choice. Always. :boxing:well put. great post.
