just watch his fight against Earl...
every punch he throws has KO written all over it...he has vulnerabilities too, just like cotto, and came back well from being hurt..
he's all action and reminds me so much of cotto's style....highlight action!.
I'd like to see him unify with Juan Diaz. Im pretty sure Juan would destroy him
From what I've seen, Juan Diaz doesn't do destructions. He doesn't have the pop to do that. As far as Lightweights go, stylistically Juan Diaz would be one of the better top class opponents for Katsidis, as he is a pressure fighter who doesn't have much of a punch. However, Juan Diaz is also very good at what he does and you feel that if his chin holds up (no indication that it shouldn't), he should be able to get Katsidis to punch himself out and go on and get Katsidis to retire.
It's the slick speedy boxer-punchers and the crafty counter-punchers that will be the ones to really do a number on Katsidis, just like it would take a Ricky Hatton type fighter to wear Juan Diaz down.
yeah..he was practically begging him to say something about earl but katty just started blabbing about god knows what...
Good. I thought I was the only one that noticed that.
Anyone notice when Jim Rosenthal twice tried to get Katsidis to say a little word of praise for Earl, but Katsidis just ignored it.

he was knocked down by a solid pucnh as he was punching himself. THAT HURTS!!
I agree, he got caught with big shots clean and they had very little affect other than the KD shot while he was throwing a wide shot himself
He is pretty decent from what i remember, have to watch it again today coz i was fuckin hammered when i watched it! Good Hook on em!
Watched the fight again this morning - WHAT A FIGHT! The guy is good-not really like Cotto tho, Im a fan!
i agree that was 1 of the best fights ive ever seen
katsidis chin looks dodgy though

too difficult for aussie fighters due to the geographics.....basically if they don't go stateside early on, they will find it hard to develop.....they need to have years of top quality training and sparring in order to get somewhere...
unfortunately, not many of them have this opportunity down under.
One thing that surprised me about katsidis is that his punches are very compact, not just throwing telegraphed haymakers as many other big punchers do. If he could tighten up his defence he could go far. Maybe a spell with Manny Steward could help him add some better tactics and decision making to his already good fundamentals.
He'll be wasted in Australia really.
I think he'd be improved by sparring some British fighters as well, Junior Witter and Ricky Hatton come to mind. The US looks like the best place for him in the future though.
Katsidis also looked like he may have some stamina problems, if Earl's trainer had let it go on a bit longer it may have got interesting.
he is interim WBO lightweight champion with this and most likely will assume the full title if Freitas doesn't fight him..............and of course he won't due to the lack of cash in such a fight...
Katsidis needs to fight outside Australia now, against better opposition than the Bangkok taxi drivers that are such common opponents on the Aussie scene.

When he caught Earl with a 20 punch combination on the ropes, he reminded me of Calzaghe a bit.
You're right. Thats exactly what I thought. But I wouldn't get carried away with this Katsidis chap. He was impressive, no question; but Earl is hardly a world level fighter.
Katsidis was exciting as fuck, however I'd say in terms of chin he may be more vulnerable than Cotto. Earl is no puncher, but with some better finishing he could have had Katsidis out of there.
Reminded me of Cotto vs Torres (albeit a less powerful Torres) in some ways, but better.
Earl looked okay to continue after the first KD, and was saved by the bell for the second, so I don't see any way in which you could question the referee.

Katsidis could go all the way given the right circumstances: It seems like a crafty boxer-puncher would be too much for him though.
the thing i didn't like about the fight was the refereeing..........earl should have not been allowed to continue after the first KD as he was totally nowehere..but typically, the english ref gave him more seconds and many more chances......
the fight after, the french guy got up and the ref called it off immediately!!
Oh come on, the froggie was on rubber legs. He should have been stopped.
By the same criteria, Katsidis could have gone in the 2nd when he was dropped. His legs looked gone for a long while.
An absolutely epic fight. Earl showed the kind of heart rarely seen. It was a strange stoppage I thought - I had Earl winning the previous round and Katsidis looked very tired. I'd have given him a little bit longer but then I'd have stopped it when he was knocked down the 3rd time.
