Currently their are about 300 weights for fighters to fight in
Personally i believe there should be less weights and therefore less champions. i believe there should only be these 6:
Flyweight - 112lbs
Lightweight -135lbs
Welterweight -147lbs
Middleweight -160lbs
Light-Heavyweight -175lbs
Heavyweight - (no limit)
do you agree?
I think its fine how it is. It may be that a couple divisions could be eliminated, but as far as the lower weights go, 5 or so pounds represents a higher percentage of their body weights than it does for the bigger guys and differences in weight are more pronounced as a result.
Not 6, that's too little. 8, including bantamweight, and featherweight.
i guess i didn;t have many lighter weights cause i'm not a fan!
to if we have nine, the ones you mentioned and also cruiserweight i think everyone would be happy!! except the junior/super champs
I have a mag where Jake La Motta says that he wishes that they had more weight classes in his time . He said that his biggest problem was that he was too small for fighting at light heavy but he was too big for making weight at middle weight. If I had it my way I would just change the weight limit of each class. With heavyweights being 6'5-7'0 250-300lbs, there leaves little chance of smaller men in the 5'10-6'3 200-220 lbs range too be successful. I would expand the heavyweight limit to 220lbs+ , Crusierweight 180-219,and so on.It's really not that big of a change and would open up the crusier weight class too become what the heavyweight class was at it's best.
I don't like the little guys, so I wish there would be only one weight class for under 135. How many grown men weigh below that anyway??
more than you think, if you look consider grown men from all over the world
more than you think, if you consider grown men with a low body pecentage
more than you think, if you consider prefight dehydration.

I think that no featherweights would be ridiculous.

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say. I mean, you can't tell God how you'd like to be born. Some people have high metabolism, some people are short though heavier, or tall though skinnier(like me), and no matter what we try, we can't get bigger or change how we are. Thus giving everyone all these weight classes gives opportunities. In a way, it's like job security for boxing :lol1:
I think of the little guys the same as I think of the Special Olympics. I guess it's nice they have their competitions, but it's not real.

I like the idea of a Super Heavyweight Division, where they're not aloud to train. They just get fat and beat the shit out of each other and get puffed out. Oh, sorry we already have that Division now, Heavyweights. This is a really silly thread.
I agree, they should cut out the super and junior divisions and less sectioning bodies, there's too many. but, I like the set up you have here, these are the best divisions out there. This is just a suggestion, but what about adding super-heavyweights to that list, they are sometimes exciting to watch, plus if there's no limit in the heavyweights, it would be a total mis-match having a 300 pound fighter, going up against a fighter who's at least 230 lbs., that's just my opinion though.
no no
super heavy is a bad idea.

hahah, Nicolaiv Valuev vs whoever. :ugh:
I think the weights are fine as well. Except maybe the 5lbs different weights. Those sometimes are a joke. Featherweight, 126lbs, super featherweight 130lbs! 4 frikin lbs. It gets sometimes stupid though it helps in the long run. The only thing I wish to see is a weight limiter on fight night. Maybe you can't go over 10lbs or something. That's where the real unfair advantages come in. I understand you need to rehydrate yourself and whatnot, though I don't think more than 10lbs is really required. That's just nuts, especially over night. They need weigh-ins ALWAYS on fight night and a limit.

I would love to go back go the original weight classes, with the inclusion of cruiserweight.
yep, 9 is good enough. We dont need 108, 115 and 112, etc.
what about when it comes to weight ins. Is it right that guys often gain like 9 lbs after weighing in?
of course not and that is criminal..........as in fact its not a 160lb fight if they weigh more, so they mean that you have to kill yourself to make that the day before the fight, but its ok to be 10lbs more on the actual fight night!!..
its fine as it is. at the moment, it doesn't matter what you're height and build is, you'll always have a weight division in which assuming you're in good shape you won't be disadvantaged in.
you've got a huge 23 lb gap between flyweight and lightweight which doesn't make sense. woudn't this be a huge disadvantage to guys who are naturally bantamweight to featherweight?
