It was just your first fight dont let it get to you. That sucks that he gos to your school though lol. Must be talking mad sh!t.
I think that as long as I stick to him like white on milk I should be okay because everyone i have sparred tells me I am the hardest hitter they know. I am just worried about how I am gonna get on the inside without getting tagged with a lucky punch.

Calm urself player, trust me the other dude will be scared too! He probably envisions u as a mini Mike Tyson! Which is who u shoud fight like! Bob and weave, stay low and keep it up close! Good luck man :biggthump
Keep you hands high...how long have you being boxing? Cut the ring off get inside the entire fight don't let him use his height at all. Be really aggresive with him if in trouble low blow, elbow, hug until the ref says something to you.
:cop:
If you've ever seen the movie Enemy Of the State with Will Smith...there's a gem of dialouge in the movie by Gene Hackman about turning your weaknesses into strengths. Yes the man you're fighting is taller, but he'll only have a supreme advantage if the fight is dictated on his terms. Keeping you at arms length using that height advantage to protect is in the taller guy's best interest. It's in your best interest to maintain a low center of gravity and use the elusiveness that comes with being smaller. Manipulating a big man into fighting on your level (literally) is taxing on his body. Be low, be slippery, and keep your eyes peeled for the openings that come with.
Good luck. ;)
Alright guys the big day is here and i will try to keep what you guys said in mind. The only reason I know how tall he is, is because he goes to my school. The fight will be recorded so hopefully I'll be alive to put it on here so we can see how I do. Wish me luck!
I assume you are the same weight...a 8 inch height difference????
If that is the case he must be extremely thin for the weight or you must be extremely wide......
The tactics are simple, lots of head movement, close the gap and work the body....dont let him breathe...run over him!!!
Watch Ibragimov vs. Austin again and you'll see exactly how NOT to fight against a tall opponent. Watch Ibragimov vs. Whittaker and you'll see exactly how to fight against a tall opponent.
also how do you know who your opponent is? Thats rare in the amateurs unless it is a big tournament or passd the first round in a tournament. Plus amateurs weigh in the day of the fight so you havent even weighed in yet.
If it is your first fight then it is going to be one of his first fights too. That means he wont know how to use his hight and reach that well. You will probably end up in a brawl which is what you want. Brawling will be better for you because hes taller and doesnt belong on the inside brawling. You need to make it an ugly fight and brawl. It is just your first fight. I could tell you all kinds of things to do but that wont matter because its only your first fight and you aint ready for advanced techniques or anything yet. Just brawl with him, work the body, and make it an ugly fight. My first fight was pretty ugly as most are so dont worry about it.
Most of all, get your damn confidence up. If you go in there thinking you are going to lose, you will lose. Just remember when you cant sleep tonight and thats all your thinking about, your opponent is doing the same thing. If he aint then he aint normal.
bueno suerte and remember that if you lose its all good. It takes balls to step in the ring.
I won't tell you what to do, though I'll tell you what not to do since it's easier to remember that. Do not stay outside. If the guy can hit hard, you staying on the outside will let him get full extension and power on his shots. Your gonna get hit obviously, it's boxing, though stay as close as you can and you should be able to negate most of his punching power and smother him. Boxing's easier when your not taking as many hits or the power shots, so once you take away his advantage, do what you think you can. Good luck!
Move your head, move forward with a double jab, when you get inside work hard and never never stand still in front of him. Hit him to the body a lot too.

Stay on his body and every once in a while throw a big over hand. Unless the guy knows how to control the distance, you got the advantage, just don't step away.
you have the luxury of being able to keep your hands very high. You want an extremely high guard. If he is that tall he cannot hit your body, so you don't have to worry about protecting your body. High guard, keep moving forward, you should do fine.
