For me, it was Miguel Cotto, right after I saw him fight Victoriano Sosa in 2003. He just went in there and took apart a guy who gave Paul Spadafora and Floyd Mayweather significant issues. I saw his complete arsenal, the body attack, the patient aggression and immediately thought "Wow, this guy is for real." Of course he's hit his rough spots and his defense isn't as great as it was a couple of years ago, but he still maintains a high level of skill. Before that, I don't recall seeing another young prospect and thinking "Wow".
Of more recent, I've been impressed with Peter Quillen and Anthony Dirrell, but not on the level I was of Miguel Cotto.
Paul Williams and the older Peterson brother that fought on ESPN2. Peterson especially. He has a lot of potential I think. Also when Soto beat Juarez I got excited about his future, but hes been avoided ever since.
Paul Williams looks great, Edwin Valero also looks very interesting. I'm actually a tad skeptical about Valero, but I would just love to see him versus Pacquiao.
I remember seeing Miguel Cotto fight Ubaldo Hernandez on the undercard of an Ivan Calderon fight in PR. The fight was shown on Univision, or Telemundo, or one of those spanish-speaking stations. He looked so calm and confident and showed mad power. I've seen every one of his fights since then.
I remember being very fond of Kid Diamond when he was coming up, too.
Miguel Cotto, and now Paul Williams.
Williams still has his share of flaws and is not as technically sound as a young Cotto, but he has so much upside.
The guy is like a freak of nature.

LAST, has to be Juanma Lopez.

my college suitemate is good friends with these guys, he is usually up in the ring with them after their fights.....
im more excited about johnathon banks and andy lee though, banks is the best american heavyweight prospect at the moment even though he is fighting at cruiser.... he will fighting on wlads undercard march 10th
I haven't seen much of Lee. I've only seen his fight on Versus.
I saw Jonathon Banks versus Eliseo Castillo. I was very impressed. He was staggered and dropped twice in the first round, but survived to knockout Castillo in the 4th, the same round Wladimir Klitschko did it. And Emmanuel Steward must have confidence, matching him that tough so early in his career.
