lol,,,are you serious? if anyone is overrated its peter. he was beaten badly by wlad and his only big win was against a shot 38 yr old toney. as far as styles go its vitali that has a huge styles advantage. he uses his height and reach well and is very difficult to hit clean. unless vitali is a shell of himslef peter will have all kinds of trouble landing. I think the peter camp will do everything they can to avoid vitali. I think peter loses every round and probably gets stopped if vitali is even 80% of himself
:boxing: :boxing: :boxing:
We are still waiting for Klitschko to offer to fight the winner of Maskaev vs Peter.
I am sure that Sam Peter would love a shot at the overrated Vitali Klitschko. The problem is Peter has the style advantage over Klitschko and there is little chance that Klitschko's handlers would allow a match against Peter if they could avoid it. All of the controversy could be forestalled by Klitschko agreeing to face the winner of Maskaev vs. Peter. Neither Maskaev nor Klitschko interested in that scenario because they both know that Maskaev is living on borrowed time.

SAM PETER BECAUSE HE WON THE FIGHT AGAINST TONEY, which means he should get the fight, it was a fight to see who would fight the champ, that fight has taken place, so let peter get his damn shot, i dnt think boxing world wants a young fuckin champion, im so sick of boxing this is why i like ufc so much these days, GET PETER IN THE RING WITH OLEG lol this shouldnt even be a question in boxing world or in this fuckin site man, V.Klit should not even be anywhere near the top ten when he makes his come back fight, he hasnt boxed for ages, was "injured" alot, and now he wants to come back when the heavyweight divison is weaker than it was when he left, i think he left so he wouldnt need to fight rock, who prob wouldnt win the fight but had a punchers chance, let everyone at the top fight it out so everyone has foght everyone and now klit comes back for easy picking so he can hav to belts and his brother can get 2, then they both call it a day. i bet this happens
Peter's two wins against Toney are better than anyone Vitali has beaten, a semi-pro golfer who became popular after beating wlad, a guy who recently got KTFO by Fraudley Scarison, Obed who???...Orlin who?? see thats the thing no one knows them. Toney is a multi weight champion who gave some HW's trouble, he was a top 5 Heavyweight when Peter beat him, twice. and did'nt you think Peter won the first fight?
I totally disagree. toney was a 38 yr old shell that peter beat. hell toney should have lost that decision to rahman,,,he clearly wasnt the same fighter that dominated holyfield. corrie sanders...herbie hide ..kirk johnson,,and larry donald..were all better and more dangerous fighters than the toney peter fought. toney would have got beat by many heavyweights that night and lets not forget that most people thought toney won the first fight with peter. if peter deserves a shot its only becuase his fight with toney was deemed an eliminator. peter's resume is dreadful compared to vitali's. just no comparison
Ya know, as much as I really can't wait to see Vitali fight again it just feels a bit like Peter should get the title shot. I think he's payed his dues.
Don't get me wrong, i'm a big fan of both Klit brothers and I think Vitali would win a fight against peter. But I still think Vitali should maybe have to fight at least one more person before the getting a championship shot.
In short, let peter fight Maskev. Then set up a bout for the winner to fight Vitali.
Since Maskaev's last fight alot of stuff for lack of a better word, has been going on behind the scenes to set up a fight with Wlad and now that that has fallen through Vitali suddenly emerges on the scene. Why can't Vitali wait around for a shot? He left Rahman waiting for months on end for a title shot and I'm not sure why the WBC has to bend over backwards for him. Give Sam Peter a shot and if Vitali still wants his shot, let him get it against the winner of Maskaev-Peter.
vitali is 35 yrs old now while peter is still young. peter has done nothing except beating a shot 38 yr old toney 1 out of 2. peter can wait for vitali who was forced to retire instead of keeping the division in limbo while he healed. he retired without losing his belt,,and he has every right to go straight for maskeav
What's sad, though, is that even though Maskaev is regarded as a tune-up, it would still be one of Vitali's best wins ever.
People that put down Sam Peter's resume should look at Vitali's as well. He never beat the man to get the WBC title. The best 'W' on his record is either Corrie Sanders or Kirk Johnson for God's sake, so Peter's win over Toney is comparable...
oh please. comparing peter's wins to vitali;s is laughable. vitali beat and dominated...herbie hide,,,larry donald,,,kirk johnson...corrie sanders,,,orlin norris,,,obed sullivan,,,danny williams,,,,,,while peter has beaten one top 20 guy,,,a shot 38 yr old james toney whom most people thought won the first fight
Then I have a good feeling that Vitali will fight for the belt. I will buy this PPV if it does happen.
:boxing: :boxing: thats what the WBC will be thinking :boxing: :boxing:
well i know all organizations are different but the WBC would not make a decision regarding this that would allow them to be sued... they make the rules and guidelines so they know what can and cannot be done... if the vote goes to vitali peter may be able to sue to recoup some of his fees from the toney fight but i doubt hed be able to successfully sue for the right to get the fight for himself...
just as a banchmark look at the IBF regarding their choice of davarryl williamson as mandatory challenger to chris byrd... they appointed him after he lost to wladamir klitschko, who was given the number two ranking behind TOS.... though it showed absolutely blatant alterior motives and made no sense on a very basic level klitschko was unable to sue for his right to the fight that should have been given to him as a result of his victory...

That's what I was thinking, but then Peter said he will sue them. What's the chance that Peter has success with the lawsuit?

I feel that Peter has earned his shot by fighting in and winning a title eliminator twice. Regardless of how you felt the first Toney fight went it is still down as a win. So Peter went out and fought Toney again, and beat him comprehensively. This gives him his shot. Peter is the number 1 contender on the WBC's list so Vitali should fight the number 1 contender after Peter and Maskaev fight (or fight the number two now, which is James Toney).
i see the WBC vote going to Vitali...
why?
cause money talks and bullshit walks.... thats why
That's what I was thinking, but then Peter said he will sue them. What's the chance that Peter has success with the lawsuit?
looks like 58% of the people who voted want to see Vitali fight for the title. But what Im wondering is how will the WBC will vote.

That's merely an assumption on your part. You are, essentially, calling Vitali's confidence into question when you say that he's coming back now and coming after Oleg simply because Oleg might be viewed as the weakest title holder.
That's not fair.
Ever occur to you that Vitali is coming back now because he's only recently been given a clean bill of health to do so? And did you consider that maybe he's going after Oleg because Oleg holds Vitali's old belt?
Im not saying I know what's in Vitali's heart any more than anyone else, but I think it's a damn sight more plausible than assuming cowardice on the part of such a courageous fighter.

The timing of his "comeback" seems suspect to me. Why is Vitali rushing into a title fight before Maskaev can defend it against his mandatory?... IMO, its because Vitali wants the easier fight (assuming that Peter would win the WBC title) against Maskaev rather than fight Peter. And who's to say that if Vitali wins the title then Peter will be the next in line...
I watched the Wlad vs Peter fight again earlier today and Wlad dominated him. The first two knockdowns were punches to the back of the head and the third KD was while Wlad was retreating backwards trying to escape Peter's onslaught and Wlad fell down. He got right back up so you cannot say he was hurt. Vitali does not panic the way Wlad does and Vitali is meaner than Wlad so I believe Vitali would have an even easier time disposing of Peter.
Maskaev is full of shit. Vitali retired in the fight due to injury so it went down on the records as a TKO for Maskaev. He did not physically knock Vitali out or put him out on his feet. Maskaev and his camp are blowing smoke up everyone's asses.
I would loooooooove to see a vid of that fight.
