Whats the best book you read about a boxers life?
I heard Ricky Hatton's book is quite funny about his life so far.
I plan on getting the one on Jesus Chavez next.
I was going to mention this one too. He went through a lot in his life though he's such a humble, silent guy one would never have guessed he spent time in prison. I don't know if you've seen the documentary of his, its very very good.
The other ones i want to get is the Wayne McCullough and Koysta Tzyu book and of course the Duran book.
Ive only read a handfull, Buchanan, Benn, Bruno, Marciano, Tyson and Hatton, Hattons was my fav. Im gonna get Tapia's too that should be gid!
I just got the Tapia one yesterday and the intro page was great, very deep. And it seems to be well written. Very easy to read so far.

well, Ive read too many to really go into all of them. I will say, however, that "Facing Tyson" sucked. It was supposed to be interviews with about 15 fighters that fought Tyson. seemed to me that it was about 6 pages per chapter and there really wasnt much of an interview or info or anything.
Basically the guy just talks about for example. How he was at the Airport, then went to holyfields house talked about inside holyfields house, talked about two questions he asked him and then how he got back home. Thanks alot pal.
my faves..

Hey thanks Joe, I'll start with The Fight by Norman Mailer one since you recommend it as the best. I would also buy Scullies book once he publishes.
Ali's biography by Thomas Hauser is GREAT. I read Sugar Ray Robinson's Pound For Pound recently and that was good too.
i have pound for pound i read sugar ray robinsons autobiography already that was a good book and for someone who hatesss reading i read it realllll quick...
i bought that book along with thomas hausers bio of muhammad ali. i couldnt get myself to start that but read the part about him vs. wilt chamberlain.. ive was debating over which boxing book to read next with jack dempsey: the manassa mauler, pound for pound, smokin joe, boxings greatest stories, rocky marciano, or the sweet science
i took the sweet science

The best boxing book I have read is 'War, Baby!' by Kevin Mitchell. It's about Gerald Mclellan vs Nigel Benn. Amazing book, you really get a feel for both fighters AND the fight. I absolutely loved it, but then IMO that is the greatest fight of all time so maybe I'm biased!
Wow, I didnt even know about this book. Gotta check it out.

I've never read a boxers book. I'm not sure why because I read a lot (3 books a month) and have a wide spectrum of genres and styles that I like. Has anyone read one that is particularly good?
On a side note anyone remember a funny thread about Boxing books that would never sell i.e. How to win over the American Public by John Ruiz....etc etc.
