Whether or not he retires very much depends on how ambitious he is? How does he wants to be remembered? Does he want people to say he was the greatest boxer who ever lived after he retires? Even if he beats DLH he already knows he aint being claimed better than SRR. RJJ had achieved a lot in his career and he was getting comparisons with SRR, but still he failed to be the greatest of all time! Even though at one time he was close being claimed it, after beating Ruiz. But in retrospect we know people got carried away with that victory but only for a while.
If he beats DLH, the experts will certainly not say he is better than SRR! PBF wont be better than a lot of boxers, again in the eyes of the experts, i would imagine if he was to even beat DLH. PBF would have to have more matchups on his record and take on more worthy challengers and yes, a longer career.
Does PBF want to know how good he can be? If he does he knows he cant retire after DLH, and that is even as much as he had achieved/
I find it hard to believe because of his age, but who knows. If I had to bet on it, I would bet that he will fight after May 5th at some point...
I can't call it.
I hope he's not as prideful as I am, because I wouldn't say some shit like that and go back on it.
I hope Floyd gives himself a way out.. There's much left to do.
I believe theres a strong chance he'll retire. Only if he wins though, but I think it
will be an easy UD for him.
He will go out thinking he's the best ever because thats the kind of douche bag he is.
I think its an act to sell tickets and to get oscar to take the fight.
He won't retire, but I don't see him fighting at 154 after this fight.
Hopefully he doesn't retire yet W or L.
But hopefully he retires before all his skill waste away and he gets beat by par level opp. Like chavez, sugar, duran, and many other did.
He won't retire.
Don't believe it for a second, anymore than I believe he is the greatest fighter ever.
He may well believe it himself but when all is said and done, PBF will fight again after May 5th.
I actually kinda have a feeling that it is just a ploy, think about it. How many more people do you think are going to come out for this fight to see Floyed in whats not only the biggest, but also "the last fight of his carreer?" I mean, I know DLH is the real attraction, but I think that the "retirement" aspect adds conciderably to the promotion, and should account for some of the high cost of watching this fight. Plus, after his "retirement," Floyed will be able to pull the old "yeah I'll fight again, but only if the money is right" line. I think this is why most boxing experts arent taking the retirement talk to seriously, that and the fact that he still has big fights left to be made.
Ofcourse, I could be wrong, he might just take his 8 figure payday and walk. I guess time will tell.
I dont think he will. Boxing is too hard to get out of. When you fight you may hate it. Hate the work hate the fact that you arent as good as u used to be. Hate the fact that your getting older hate the fact you have too be away for your family for so long but once you leave it...you almost instantaniously miss it. Floyed wont retire no way in hell
It was quite some time ago that Hatton said he wasnt ready wasnt it? Has anyone asked him if hes ready now? But no i dont think PBF will retire and i dont want him to retire.
There is Cotto there, Margarito, and a trilogy with Hatton before he should retire really. Lets say Hatton beats PBF in the first match. PBF would like revenge obviously, and then PBF can attempt to make it 2-1 in his favour.
I find it hard to believe because of his age, but who knows. If I had to bet on it, I would bet that he will fight after May 5th at some point...
You should have made this a poll, & no I don't think he's retiring.
if he beats dlh, floyd may retire coz he has a huge ego, for starters, floyd believes he's greater than SRR, and he knows he doesnt get any appreciation from the boxing community and acts like a small kid, ever noticed how he doesnt take hatton, cotto or margarito's challenges seriously.
how is he supposed to fight hatton when hatton's team says they aren't ready, they want hatton to get some real exposure in the states?
top rank doesn't want to put cotto in there with floyd. i don't think cotto is scared, but his management doesn't want it.
here's a good path to retirement for PBF:
1. ODLH
2. Sugar Shane
3. Cotto
4. The biggest name of these when it happens Hatton, Williams, Margarito
If he was smart he wouldn't retire until a few fights after DLH because hopefully he will command DLH money in the fights after that. I can't see him retiring with that much money on the table.
ever noticed how he doesnt take hatton, cotto or margarito's challenges seriously.
He didn't take Margarito seriously cuz he fought the undisputed Welter champ and Oscar, and he's tried to fight Hatton and Cotto for years but they insist they are not ready for him.
if he beats dlh, floyd may retire coz he has a huge ego, for starters, floyd believes he's greater than SRR.
Floyd believes Whitaker is the greatest of all time. End of story.
