OK, I just saw the movie... the fight scenes to me were NOT nearly as realistic as they tried to make it.. they also say that Tarver was REALLY hitting Stallone with hard shots.. let me tell you... even withotut seeing the movie...NO WAY NO HOW!!! If Hollywood thinks anybody with a boxing background is going to believe for even one second that 60 year old Sylvester Stallone could take a real punch from Antonio Tarver without getting knocked OUT, buster up badly etc etc etc, than they are even caught up in the world of make believe that I ever thought possible. Now, the two biggest flaws of the movie (and otherwise I thought it was pretty good) are these. 1st.... In his prime Rocky's face, even in winning, was beaten to a pulp by Creed, Lang and Drago. Now at 60 years old he goes distance with the reigning world champ, a guy 33-0 with 30 KO's, and all he gets is a bloody nose and lip and a cut around the eye??? Annnnnnnnnnnt! And 2nd.... in this movie they refer to George Foreman winning the title at an advanced age over Moorer and they reference Muhammad Ali by face and name.... Well, where was Ali in the world of 1975 and the original ROCKY? Creed WAS Ali.....even boasting in the original about being "the greatest of all time!!" Where was Foreman in all this? In 1975 Creed was 48-0, the unbeaten world champ, so he must have been champ for a while seeing as how famous and legendary they made him out to be in that movie. If that's true then why was Joe Frazier, introduced in the first film, as big and famous of a fighter as they made him out to be? Where was Ali and Foreman in that world? Foreman came back to fight Moorer in the latest movie..... but when was he the champ in that world? They made a HUGE goof IMO of mentioning Foreman and they never should have made Ali out to be a real person. That messed it up bad to me.
Saw Rocky Balboa again and it is such a deep movie.
the more times i see this flick the more meaning i obtain from it.
ITS ALL HEART!!
Its definitly climbing up there as my favourites

Jesus Ice, I can see your point mate but the whole story, ethos and feel of the Rocky movies are based around fantastic over enthusiastic fantasy. I mean you mention the injuries that Rocky sustained against Creed well apart from the fact that the fight would have been stopped by about the third round movie goers these days are not as naive and understand this.
I agree they have deviated from the original story line in mentioning Foreman but his story was too close to Rocky's to leave out but I see your point!
Oh I knew that it was a real boxer who played him, I just wanted to know the character's record. The annoying thing is there's a band called Spider Rico so I was searching for "spider rico record" and it was going on about punk and grindcore music!
I thought I may have found Spider Rico's record but the site crashed my computer. It must be a secret!
Here's the guy who played him .http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=015808
I found a video game FAQ for the Rocky game. Spider's record below:
Spider Rico
-Nationality: American
-Age: 35
-Height: 5'11''
-Weight: 207 lbs
-Reach: 72''
-Record: W33 - L15 - D2
Trainer's Comments:
Spider Rico's been on the circuit for over 15 years now and is past his best, but don't take him too lightly. Rico's strengths lie in his vast experience, he knows every trick in the book and will use them. Dodge his hooks, then counter with jab combos. Grind him down until he runs out of steam.
Rocky, The Movie - The Kenny Norton story or the real Apollo Creedhttp://www.talkingboxing.com/articles/beauchampnorton.html
The character of "Apollo Creed" in the Rocky movie was initially going to be played by Norton, however when he pulled out, Carl Weathers was selected.http://www.answers.com/topic/ken-norton This must be where the mix up comes from .
The actor that played Spider Rico was a real boxer ? Pretty funny stuff .http://www.ringsidereport.com/rsrboard/viewtopic.php?=&p=23073
Do you have Spider Rico's record?
It's not on wiki but it might be on the vid games .The FACT that Creed is based on Ali has been known for 30 years now. There is NO QUESTION WHATSOEVER that Creed is based on ALi. I might have been Ken Norton himself that said it. I can't remember where I heard it from right this sec but I agree I know it's mainly Ali I was just pointing out that there are others that claim that parts of Creed are based on Norton.
Ken Norton's name also comes up as being the influence of Creed but you can tell by watching the filmes that Creed is much more like Ali then anyone else.
I think Sly just took small parts of a few boxers that were big at the time and based the characters from the mesh.

Let's see, i remember watching a clip from the Oscars, or some other award show, and i think it was in the 70s, right when Stallone was the man. While Sly was giving a speech, Ali came out and said things like ''I was Appolo Creed! You made him out to be me!'' something like that. But it was all in fun, and they kind like shadow boxed eachother on stage. Just sharing.
I just finally watched it last night and thought it was pretty good.I agree with the things you say Ice but I did find it more realistic than I thought I would due to Mason breaking his hand and all that.......It was also very inspirational and heart warming how he and his son got close again.......good flick.
See Cletus? That's messed up. I asked you in IM because I was in a hurry and I had to post and you said it was 20. You got me good, man. REEEEAALLL FUNNY :)
Another glitch... Rocky's son, according to the movie, was born in 1977.... this movie came out in 2006....meaning that kid quite an impressive job for a ....19 year old.
dude 1977 - 2006 = 29 years...

Did Maske rattle your brain or was it Toney Sparring? That would make him 29 years old? You missed a decade.
