Warriors wins Briggs-Ibragimov!
Monday, November 27 2006
Warriors Boxing Promotions along with partners Golden Boy Promotions and Golden Grain Promotions/Sampson Lewkowicz won today's WBO purse bid for the right to stage the fight between WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs and mandatory challenger Sultan Ibragimov. The winning bid was $2,501,000, which outdistanced runnerup Don King Productions at $1,501,000.
No Don King? That is a good thing. Hopefully this fight gets made soon.
Another East European boxer :boxing:
Where are they all coming from?
their coming from a place where it is hard to live, a place where life it totaly different and they are working harder and stronger that is why the division is domintated by them...
what i dont get is how sultan beat up on a guy like Lance Whittaker and then has trouble with a scrub like ray austin, its beyond me. One thing I wouldnt do is understimate Briggs who is a very good counterpuncher and if he shows up to fight hes dangerous...
sult will walk through him
I tend to agree with you. Ibragimov will do to Briggs what you see Mayweather doing to Judah in your avatar. The question is will any fans buy tickets to watch?
Briggs by KO. Probably in the 5th round. I just do not think Sultan will be able to get inside on Briggs. I see Sultan trying his hardest early on to get inside on Briggs, but just like Lyakhovich who tried and got tagged with counter's, Sultan will become hesitant and look to fight on the outside.
Exactly. I think Sultan's lunging efforts to get inside against Austin were even worse than Lyakovich's against Briggs.

If it's not PPV this will be well worth watching. I expect Briggs to beat Ibragimov if the latter looks anything like the guy who faced Austin. This fight has to end in a KO.
are you serious?? I LOVE boxing and I am a Briggs fan, but I wouldnt order this.
yeah it doesent make much sense that klitschkos fight are all free and you have to pay for everyone elses.
That will be a great fight. I will watch it whether it is on PPV or not.

He got to get briggs to work at his pace not the one punch at a time briggs did in his last fight, make briggs work and im sure he get winded, has happened in the past.
After that last boring performance by Briggs, I wonder how the promoter expects to turn a profit?
if i remember correctly they outbid king by like double for the right to stage igbraminov/ austin..... and that was a crap fight, so who knows what theyre doing here.... trying desperately yo get their money back.... or intentionally double their losses for tax write off purposes?
