Penalosa was a good champion, back in the day. But them days are gone. Gonzalez is to big and to strong. Not to mention to young. Gonzalez is going to retire him like he did Mark Johnson
We all know that Penalosa is old but he impressed me in his last outing making me think he has something left. I think he has a slight chance at an upset.
Nah, it aint the size of their country, Puerto Rico is way smaller then Phillippines and look how many champions they had.
Yeah its not the size its the proximity. Boxing is a business and needs fans. Pacquiao showed that there are enough pinoys to make money so the doors opened for other fighters.

Gonzalez is younger, he fights tall, and like i said, he gave isreal vasquez all he could handle dropping him twice and it looked like he was about to fuckin give up. Penalosa showed up with a great performence in his last fight, but Gonzalez to me, is the superior fighter all around, im not really trippin off pinoy or not pinoy, it has to do with Gonzalez and that dominating Jab he uses and unless Penalosa gets around it without being worn down, its gonna be a long night.
Chances are good that he will loose againts Gonzales, given all those factors you just pointed out. I wouldnt be surprised if Jerry won though the way I would be if Jaca won.
If anything is going to hamper Jerry it will be his age. Jerry is a skilled fighter with, in my opinion, decent power. He has never been Koed in 58 fights. His style makes it hard for opponents to land clean ala a James Toney. He was once a world champion with world class skills. Reason he retired was due to controversial decisions. I think Jerry has a legitimate chance and he has looked impressive as of late. There are many Pinoy fighters out there that are being hyped with a slim chance to take advantage of opportunities; Jaca might be one, we will see on saturday. Penalosa is proven and not to be underestimated. Granted he is an old fighter going up in weight his boxing acumen through experience should make him a contender.

Im sorry, Gonzalez is gonna tear this guy up, he gave Isreal Vasquez all he could handle and Penalosa is NOT Vasquez who is an outstanding boxer puncher.
