I thought the fight could have gone either way but Torres was much more agressive, I had him winning 114-113. I was surprised how bad Torres looked compared to when he fought Cotto, he was slooooooow, wasn't that strong, and didn't have the same steam on his punches.
But he did manage to get the W on a night where he certainly wasn't at his best.
Torres wasn't the same fighter who faced Cotto, his power and speed wasn't all there plus he started fading after the third. He did get up from a nasty hook, kudos for that. Mighty Mike could've had him, but just didn't have the heart to press on Torres more. I think Paulie, Witter or Corley will take Torres out.
Ricardo Torres looked uncomfortable. I think with the right manager and trainer, Torres could be a great success. ALthough he is 30-1 he has the experience of a 15 fight fighter. Emmanuel steward once said (refering to Joel Julio at the time) "fighters from columbia may have as many fights as some of the champions out there, but their experience is about half that". Ricardo Torres stated in his interview "that was my first fight against a southpaw". At 31 fights he should have had more fights with different types of fighters. This is an example of bad management.
He has great potential, but he needs to be managed carefully in order to develop him into a true champion. He does not have the experience to beat fighters like Hatton or even Urango, Clottey, Quintana or any of the top contenders.
If it isn't Fight of the year I'd be surprised.
Light Welter is wide open for hatton to clean up now. Junior Witter is probably the strongest titlist at the moment, and i doubt he could beat Hatton. Torres is a real lame duck "Champion" and I'd probably rather Hatton went after Witter.
Of course hatton could always lose against Urango. It would be th upset of the year though.
Castillo will KO Hatton middle rounds, it will look easy. Hell Hatton needs to worry about this Urango guy first.
Torres has heart. Yea this decsion was very controversial.. But Mike should have done more.. He could have ended the fight in the 7th. Torres didn't look that good at the fact that Mike was a southpaw. I bet he will look better against a conventional fighter.
Torres has a good enough chin, but his style leads to himg etting caught sometimes, as wth many punchers.
Arnoutis is not the better fighter. He lost because he ran away too much.
That fight was very close & could've went either way. Might Mike definitely had a chance to win but let it go. He was hesitant I think because of Torres punching power. He knew that Torres was most dangerous when he was hurt & didn't commit to his punches like he normally would. He fought like he had too much respect for Torres punching power.
exactly, arnaoutis showed too much respect, i don't blame him for being cautious, but you gotta test the waters though ya know, especially for the belt.
lesson learned i bet arnaoutis will be more aggressive and assertive next time, it cost him dearly, his undefeated record and the belt.
Arnaoutis simply lost because of inactivity during those last two rounds...........i bet he didn't win the 11th and 12th of all of the judges cards as he simply did nothing........i was watching and trying to count how many times he actually hit Torres in those rounds, and the number were single digits.....................and it seemed the judges were favouring the aggressor, so he has himself to blame.
the 140lb division all of a sudden is as weak as ever with four paper titlists all winning vacant belts............and how interesting that hatton is moving back down!!!...

Mike should have just let go more, but the thing is, if he would have then Torres would have came right back. When he thought he had Torres hurt, Ricardo fought right back. It was a close fight, could have gone either way really. Maybe he can fight Paulie or Vivian Harris.

Naah i mean after that fight bro,i cant wait til Hatton-Castillo,gna b a war

Torres looked like shit to me.I cant believe he walked away with the victory,he was agrressive,so what,he was barely effective.Maybe mike was too cautious but look what happened to cotto when he wasnt.Arnoutis defenitely deserved the win tonight.Especially considering that KD.
he only looked better in the cotto fight because cotto fought torres's fight,so torres looked a little better that night, but still lost.I dont think he deserved the nod tonight, and he definetly wont beat a decent boxer even.
i thought the same, torres didn't deserve the win. i had it 116-114 arnaoutis, i had it even until the last two rounds, mike needing the 11th and the 12th to win on m card.
i think it was a shady decision honestly, mike got the KD and was the sharper of the two, a large protion of torres' punches were hitting elbows and gloves.
more activity and arnaoutis would've won, plain and simple, but like i said, i had arnaoutis winning 116-114.

Ricardo Torres was very fortunate to win the decision and I think Ricky Hatton should fight him. :chomp: :ok:
:-) sry i had to take ur dog for a second :-)
Yeh he looked bigger and his arms were sloppy, his punching didnt look powerful, and hes got a suspect chin,Cotto put him down 4 times and i think Mike only has 9 KO's and he also put him down,i bet this will be the fight Hatton will want next
Hatton insists that the fight with Castillo is just about a done deal.
castillo or hatton would spank this guy but I dont see it happenen,,,torres looked like he needs to move up in weight he looked weak.

chBoxing;1929072]Torres is good but not as good. Cotto just fought the wrong fight, he wanted to test his own chin, but if he had used his jab and fought smart it would of been a shut out for him.
lmao
ur stupid
he just got over confident and walked into somethin
but his chin held up

Mike could've won by KO.. Thing is he didn't capitalize when he knocked Torres down. After that Torres started to wake up a lil bit. It could've been a draw.. But what got me mad is that Mike ain't go for the kill. He was to cautious and thinking about getting hit, but he seem to take Torres punches well. This decison was very controversial.. Even when one judge scored it.. What was it? 111-116 for Torres. HA! Mike got :owned: by that judge.
