that's a stupid question, he is a good fighter but he isn't the best p4p because there are many better fighters than him. more dominant, more skills...
he has accomplished alot but i never really see him name up there
I rate him real high but not quite as High as a SRR Pep, Jones ect. He took it to the bigger guys in the Heavy division and did well, beating Bowe, Foreman and Lennox (I gave him the 2nd fight). Along with many others. Coming up after kickin ass at cruiser makes it even more impressive. My take on P4P is that it duznt matter what weight u are, its about skills mainly. Record and accomplishments come into it to but mainly skills IMO, also duznt hurt if uve proved ur worth in other divisions
mike tyson wasnt done untill the day holyfield pushed his punk ass around ...
if he wasnt done he wouldnt have been a huge favorite to win and it wouldnt have been so fucking shocking to the people that he lost to holyfield
holyfield dosnt get ranked up high on any list because hes not an "invincible" type of fighter...you look at the rest of everyones number 1s..its just a comprise of fighters who rarely lose and are total and completely gifted to the highest order ...thats why tyson was on there for a while in the 80s..memmmber?? you memmmmmmbbbberrr memberrrr?
Holyfield is truly one of my favorite fighters and I hold him in high regard. He'd probably be my 7th greatest heavyweight...coming in behind Ali, Louis, Holmes, Foreman, Marciano and Johnson. He was the greatest Cruiserweight of all-time and he was a 3 time world heavyweight champion. His opposition is a laundry list of champions, talent and toughguys.
Qawi x2 (whom he defeated in his 12th!!!! pro fight)
Ocasio
De Leon
Dokes (rejuvenated)
Douglas
Foreman
Cooper
Holmes
Bowe x3
Moorer x2
Mercer
Tyson
Lewis
and among the current crop of the weak hw division...
byrd
ruiz
rahman
toney
donald
oquendo
Gotta love Holyfield.
Ring magazine did a ranking called 80 best fighters of the last 80 years and holyfield came at #22. The only heavyweights that came ahead of him were ali, louis, marciano and ezzard. I think he is ranked high cuz he dominated the cruiserweight division too.
these fighters sucked, truely sucked. you kinda just proved urself very wrong.
these fighters are kinda the reason why this era sucked so bad.
No i kinda didn't
i think p4p means diffrent weight classes.....holyfield only proved himself in two, and his hw championship reigns werent as dominant as previous fighters (like tyson) and ppl just didnt accept him to be that great, i think hes a great fighter but p4p he might be top 15 but thats a scretch
ok why isnt he top 5 greatest hws. due to opponents he fought, style and longevity
That certainly is a stretch - top 15 - all time..... my arse
bah Lewis,Foreman,Tyson,Bowe,Golota,Holmes, + Pinklon Thomas,Berbick,Briggs,Tills,Bonecrusher Smith, Buster, ...it really was not that bad most of the fighters could have been great in any other era it's just that the top 5-7 fighters were a mis-match for the rest .

its hard to be considerd the best p4p fighter ever when you dont beat the best of ur era. it makes it even harder when ur era is the worst in history for the division that you fight in.

Without a doubt Holyfield is one of the best heavys of all time and he is the best cruiser of all time . A few years ago The Ring mag had him at # 3 all time HV but i'd put him somewhere around 5-7. As far as P4P I do think that he is a great P4P fighter but the competition for P4P greatness is so high it makes him fall into the late parts of top 100. Maybe if he would have won a belt at LH then done everything else he would have been higher .

Holyfield was good, and did have some good fights, but I don't consider him top5 (top10 maybe, and should be top15)... He fought an old but still Dangerous Foreman and that was a hell of a fight, and he fought a Tyson that was not all that good....He did have good opponents, but I just don't condisder him top5 material...
I wish I could've seen a younger (heavier) Holyfield v a young tyson...
My point being: Holyfield is above other so called "P4P" fighters because he was fighting fighters that could out-weigh him by a lot, especially from his original. Just look at the Bowe fight or Lewis fight, Holy was out-weighed more than most "P4P" fighters in history. I say most because
Sam Langford fought Heavyweights, so don't forget about that.
I am not sure if anybody has mentioned this yet, but Heavyweights don't have weight limits, thus making it harder. P4P talk is for pussies, Holy was the man. You can't compare a man that fights at Heavyweight with someone who is locked in by weight limits.
This is why I give Chris Bryd a lot of respect... plus did anybody realize how great Chris's chin was?
Just look the shots he took against Ike Ibeabuchi and Wladimir Klitscho. Yeah, he ended up knocked out, by by TKO. The guy had the balls/heart to get back up and give the judge a "WTF" you stopping this shit for look.
People love to talk about Marciano's chin, but I wonder what would have happened if he took those same shots, just a thought
he still moved up in weight class he shouldnt be in
going great in 2 big weightclasses should give u more p4p credit
