PBF went overboard but he has a point. Larry seems to aggravate a lot of boxers after their victories, at a time when they want to celebrate, he brings a downer to the party.
I think the straight after the fight interview should be light and celebratory
Now the after fight press conference, when the fighter has had a shower, let their win/loss settle in for a little bit and are a bit more composed, that's when the tougher questions can be asked.
Larry KO 1
Floyd looked like shit and was boring as hell people were streaming out towards the end of the fight. If your gonna call yourself the next Ray Robinson you better look better than that he should have made at least some effort to put Baldomir away. Its not like Baldomir is some wicked puncher who is always dangerous the dude only has 13 KO's in 60+ fights.
You wanna talk all kind of shit about how the greatest thing since sliced bread expect to be called out when you put the audiance to sleep.
and im the biggest Floyd fan in the world.
post of the weekend....

You obviously saw he didnt "just" ask me to explain. I wont explain anything to someone who tries to ridicule me in the process for not seeing it his way. Do you agree?
I rewatched them this morning and I only gave baldi 8 and 12. Those were round where floyd didnt really do much and baldi was the aggressor landing some nice body shots and actually landing some to his head.
I can agree with that.
It's funny when someone asks you to explain how you scored rounds, you get all pissed iff and then have toinsult back. So what made you score those rounds for Baldy?
You obviously saw he didnt "just" ask me to explain. He obviously thinks Im wrong as he said I dont know how to score fights so whats the point of explaining anything to him. I wont explain anything to someone who tries to ridicule me in the process for not seeing it his way. Do you agree?

I don't think Merchant did anything wrong. Mayweather said that his job is to commentate and part of commentating is asking the hard questions. The fight was disappointing, but its not just because how Mayweather fough it, Baldomir just couldn't stay with him.
Another nuthugging response. Do you know how to ask questions without trying to insult someone in the process or are you mad cuz I didnt give him all 12 rounds?? If you dont like that I gave him those rounds it really sounds like a personal problem to me.

i know how you feel, i gave trinidad 2 or 3 rounds in the wright fight, so dont feel like your alone, while i personally gave baldomir 2 rounds...out of mercy, i just dont think shutouts in boxing happen in terms of scoring very often.
Why did you give Baldomir rounds 7,8 and 12? why do you feel he won them? what did he do? your scoring is as bad as the guy who scored tarver-hopkins a draw

Just remember, it's Larry Merchant's job to annoy and ask tough questions following a fight. He's paid to do that. Also I'm pretty sure fighter sign a contract with HBO that includes they will be interviewed following the fight immediately while on-air. Nearly every fighter accepts this and few leave the arena whether they are beat to shit or angry. It's all part of contracts and jobs, no hate should be given really on either part.
I know but look at how Paul Wins, his height and reach.
Paul has the same 24 KO's in 34 fights as Mayweather does in 37.
(So far for Paul he has beat lesser competition)
Why not fight Mayweather ?
Only because Mayweather may not take the fight.
Why are you even making this comparison, lesser competition is an understatement, i remember when phillip ndou had what..28 kos against bums? Paul Williams isnt that good to me, and unless he beats margarito, i dont really care, becausei can remember a time on this board when the vivian harris bandwagon was pretty big...
Paul Williams hasnt even conquered anything or anyone worth conquering to warrant any pull in the division at all, other than of course..being margaritos mandatory.

Until he fights Paul Williams; Floyd has not conquered the Welterweight division. I think Paul Williams can beat him.
Antonio Margarito I am not sure if he can beat Mayweather.

Larry had a point, despite how brilliant Floyd looked, when the crowd boo's and leaves a boxing match like it's a 7th inning blow out baseball game it's clearly a problem. If Larry didn't mention it HBO would have looked like FOX during the World Series, ignoring a true fact so the network doesn't lose face for putting this on P-P-V...just because Floyd or some fans didn't like the comment doesn't make it any less true, people did leave and were upset that a guy with this much skill wouldn't open up and try to K.O. a guy he was beating at will. Larry did the right thing...he even said while Floyd was going nuts what everyone wants to say "We just want you to take a meaningful fight" I think everyone deep down knows he will destroy Margarito and probably make him look worse than he did Baldy beacuse of all the things that have been said...so why not just take the fight? Or Fight Sugar Shane or DLH...any one of those fights could help him prove his skeptics wrong and would give him more of a reason to be arrogant...So Larry was 100% right for what he did, it's what he does and what should be expected.
I think financially this may have been a mistake for floyd. He put on a terrible show. Granted Baldomir looked amateurish but I think it was emmanuel stewart who was saying that a "great" fighter wouldnt be handling the fight this way when he is able to land punches at will.
They did hype the fight and it ended up being a joke. If people who dont usually follow boxing bought the fight on ppv the sure the hell wont buy it again if its a mayweather fight. He will likely loose money on any upcoming fights for this... now it seems like he NEEDS DLH for some name recognition now, he's not doing it on his own with displays like these.
Merchant asked a valid question and I think Floyd reacted that way because he knew the fight sucked but has a big ego.
What happened to pbf prediction?

It did not happen at all.:nonono:
That's probably part of people's frustrations. If Mayweather wasn't going to fight Baldomir the way it would take to stop him, then he shouldn't have talked like that. As he did, the fans who bought into it have a right to boo or leave early. They paid their money...
Granted Merchant is a dick when he interviews fighters. He's usually disrespectfull and the whole interview just sucks.
But I think it was a legit question, and it wasn't like Merchant gave his (half-assed) opinion, he stated facts. People were leaving and people were booing. Mayweather then goes and says the your not a boxer stick to commenting line of bullshit. But the funny part was thats what he was doing, commenting on what happened lol. It was pretty funny watching him blow up like that but it wasn't totally uncalled for...not to mention all the emotions your going through after the fight, and because of that the whole incident isn't that big of a deal, IMO.
