Eight elite heavyweights will collide on December 1 (December 2 at 11AM in Australia) for a $5 million first prize in the "Superfighter" tournament at the Telstra Dome in Melbourne, Australia. The field includes Chris Byrd, Samuel Peter, Calvin Brock, Oliver McCall, Jameel McCline, O'Neal Bell, Juan Carlos Gomez and Tye Fields. Should any fighter drop out, Sinan Samil Sam is set to step in. Brock is commited to fighting in this event, even though he's challenging IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on November 11. The format will be a one-night, high-intensity heavyweight elimination tournament consisting of four three-minute rounds with only the winner of each bout advancing to the next round. To win the $5 million, the winner will have to defeat three opponents in one day. Total prize money is $6.5 million.
I got B reserve, $125. Couldn't afford more because i wanted to get a ticket for my dad to.
Im going by myself. I could have taken my missus but that would have meant my seat wouldnt have been as good. Ive never been to a boxing match before so Im really looking forward to it. The last decent boxing event that I can recall to be held in Melbourne was the Robbie Peden and Nat Campbell title fight and that was almost 2 years ago. I didnt go to that because I was on holidays that week.
Im excited aswell. I bought my ticket yesterday. How much was your ticket? Mine was 350 for a platinum seat. I would have loved to have been in the VIP area but I cant afford 1000 bucks.

this is what K1 did with KickBoxing and look how successful that is!..
even though the other promoters in Boxing don't want events like this to happen, if it does, it will be great and could be a start to a new better era in Boxing!!!............forget the corruption, the dogdy decisions, the mandatory nobodies, sanctioning fees, etc, etc, etc............
this is 4 rounds, go and KO your opponent or you are out!
Damn right man,
The super fighter tourney is the coolest and best thing to happen to boxing in forever.
I dare you to prove me wrong.

boxing at one time was untill no man could go no more then it became 45 rounds then 20 rounds then 15 rounds now its 12 ... some are even 10 rounds
now we're talking 4 round pro bouts ... think this says something about our attention span and fitness level now adays ...when professional fighters and the fans only wanna watch for 4 rounds a fight
If yer fighting 3 men in one night dont you think there should be a few less rounds to the fights? I think the increased intensity of the fights(5 million dollars winners purse is a huge motivator)will be taxing of anyones stamina. Imagine having to go 4 hard rounds with a Samuel Peter that knows he only has to go 4 rounds. Then after that having to do the same against McCall?
It will just be that much more exciting.
The finalists will have to fight 3x4round fights. Totalling 12 rounds the same as a normal championship fight.
Boxing is changing. Its not a bad thing. 12 round snooze decisions are boring and turn fans away from the sport. Id rather see 4 round intense fights and a fighter beat 3 guys in one night instead of waiting 6 months for a fighter to fight and having it go to a draw.

this is the most rigoddamndiculous thing i've ever heard of ! ...
more facts to back up my claim that boxing is becomeing a rigged state like the wwf
Why is it so rediculous? And why are you assuming its rigged?
Some of the biggest names have signed on to endorse this thing.
Angelo Dundee
Arturo Gatti
Kostya Tszyu
Lennox Lewis
George Foreman
etc etc etc.
Any exciting format and tourney style can only be good for boxing.
No more boring 12 round stinkfests.
I know some of you remember the heavyweight tournament that happened years ago - probably 10 years ago?
Mo Harris won the tourney, it was called fist full of dollars and CKP put it on.
The general public likes heavyweights 7 heavyweight fights in one night that are all gonna be action packed 4 rounders? Sounds great to me.
The guys that signed on arent the biggest names in boxing but they arent the smallest either. Samuel Peter Chris Byrd Calvin Brock are all big names Even Oliver McCall.
Plus youve got Lennox promoting the fights as well.
Roy Jones Junior and Ken Shamrock are in the commercial which will help the event tremendously in terms of mainstream appeal.
I hope this is real and will happen but it probably wont.
If this did happen it would be the coolest thing to happen to boxing in a long time. Its one the best ideas ive ever heard in terms of rejuvinating boxing as a sport.
Giving the fighters a common prize to fight is huge motivation for them to try hard.
Harving a tourney format where fighters have to fight often (even on the same night)brings huge excitement. Im sick of fighters fighting once every 6 months at the most.
I don't think it'll rejuvenate shit, general public will not pay $50 to see boxers whom they never heard about. If this was on national television, it would be a completely different story though.
Heres the site with more info
Roy Jones Junior is in the advert.

Tua would be good.
Who are you guys picking to win? I got Gomez but id like McCall.
i'm fkn over the moon..........as its in my home town and can't wait!!
i reckon these kind of activites are better than rigged promotions....about time boxing follows in the footsteps of K1....
i'll send you pics from the event!
I'll be there to bro!!! Pretty crazy with all the city's in the world we get it here in Melbourne. You heard anything bout how to get tickets???
