How much does the average fan knows about boxing

The average guy knows nothing about boxing. I have been a big boxing fan sence i was very young. Back in school and at work i used to get so pissed at those guys, that i would just ask them to NAME a few boxers and all i got was.....mike tyson uuuh de la hoya and uuuuuuhhhh..........ali

just an average fan here but i like to know more about boxing and its history just keep reading on expert reviews, lots of sites on the net, and watch boxing of course. :grouphug:

Living in Australia it is hard to find someone who knows anything about boxing. People that I talk to who think they know about boxing wouldnt be able to tell me the names of more than 10 boxers. For example, I got all excited about the names in the superfighter tournament like Samuel Peter, Calvin Brock, O'neal Bell, Chrid Byrd, and the guys I talk to hadnt heard of any of these boxers. Im not saying Im a boxing expert by any means, but it would be nice to have friends that know what they are talking about.

Yes they do if their a little older, yea maybe some of young kids don't know Chavez but Chavez name was huge in America for a long time. I think most people knows who Chavez is! I know Chavez since I'm 5 yrs old. :cop:

Everyone knows Chavez, I'm pretty sure this guys knows Chavez too, it's his opinion! I've seen worse! i dont think americans know chavez that much

unfortunatly, im talking about rocky balboa, the fake fighter. tragically, most people see him as the poster boy for boxing, totally disregarding the fact that rocky balboa has never existed and sylvester stallone is not a fighter. That was shown when Tarver knocked him out during filming when they werent hitting each other not even close to full force. Sly realized it was a bad idea when he woke up in the ER.

yeah the average fan doesnt know to much. Today my friend asked "is Mike Tyson still the heavyweight champ and has he ever lost besides lennox lewis and the disqualification of the ear biting"

The average fan only knows DLH is GOD in Boxing, and Trinidad is his son. Everyone else are just fighters in their world... (keep in mind Trinidad is retired and DLH is semi-retired) lol.

What?! I saw the trailer for Rocky Balboa yesterday, and it proved, beyond doubt, that he is the greatest fighter of all time. I actually don't know a lot about boxing history. It's only something I've watched casually over the last six years or so.

I like boxing, but I didn't get into it until pretty recently, so I really don't know the history of the sport or older fighters, although I wish I did. I have a hard enough time keeping track of all the fighters now. I learned the technical aspect of the sport because a little after I got into boxing I joined kickboxing, which basiclly takes the upper body of boxing (i know its not the same thing but it helps me understand boxing more). I am a Gatti fan but I know hes not great...even I know I wouldn't wanna see him go against JCC.

the average person (person, not fan) knows mike tyson, joe louis, muhammad ali, george foreman, rocky, and maybe holyfield and sugar ray leonard. outside of that, the average person probly doesnt know or care about boxing. and understandably so, this sport is reprehensible.

My friends kind of think they know alot, but in reality are pretty clueless. The guy you were talking to was clearly totally ignorant.

Its simple... most people only care about their favorite fighters... If you want to know.. just ask them to say something BAD about their guys.. if they can't they are FANBOYS not BOXING fans i was trying to convince him that Gatti's face looks like he went 15 rounds with Ali before he even steps in the ring
