The Better Defensive Fighter??? WINKY or MAYWEATHER???

i go with mayweather...pbf gets hit alot less than winky ..also mayweather's defense is alot more exciting to watch than winky because he actually counters winky just stands there with his hands up ..

why is it i see people here sayin mayweather has the better defense, but those same guys say that mayweather gets knocked out my taylor at any middleweight division? Winky stoody toe to toe with taylor for 11 rounds, made the fight a fight, and still arguably came away with the win...

wink has the better defense .floyd can be hit he just fights slower fighters, if zab was not so overwhelmd he could have caught floyd more wink catches a lot on his gloves and elbows most of his fights the opponent only connects in the low percentages an they throw over 750 punches and he picks those off if you watch boxing now alot of fighters are trying his defense but its not as easy as it looks he has long arms so he can tuck really tight if anybody saw floyd an chop chop fight chop was catching him. winks puff eyes come from a lot of head butts when he fought jermain if you seen the fight he got caught with two big headbutts .wink may have the best defense ever?

Honestly... this a dumb thread. Mayweather has the better defense... and easily. Mayweather takes a lot less damage than Winky does. Mayweather doesn't get hit nearly as much as Winky does. Mayweather's defense is a lot more versatile than Winky's is Mayweather's defense looks good, stylish and impressive. He also doesn't fight the quality of opposition as Winky.

It means something that Winky is in a much higher weightclass, right? I mean Winky has taken his defensive prowess and gone toe to toe with Jermain Taylor. You need to have the power to keep those guys off you, but the defense to make yourself elusive. Winky Wright has proven his defensive style can help him swing it all the way up to 160 lbs. I respect Mayweather, and acknowledge his defensive ability, but if you can follow my logic Winky fighting the bigger men makes me give him an extra point or two. Though, you could say Mayweather fights the smaller, faster men and still doesn't get hit....all opinion.

Winky had plenty of bruises on his face..what fight were you watching?....Mayweather has the far better defense..honestly. on that note... his defense is so good Margarito didnt land a single shot on him..from all that ducking. I'd have to go with Winky. He may have had a few bruise but look who he was fighting. It's not like he was fighting some scrub. He was fighting Jermaine Taylor, the undisputed middleweight champ not some tomatoe can that Floyd has come accustom to fighting. Winks defensive held up pretty well against Taylor and he was moving up in weight fighting a much stronger opponent.

they have diff defensive styles. I pick Winky thou because he has an abnormally long arm past his elbow, and his defense is what has won him fights, not so much his speed or skill like mayweather. It still amazes me how Winky can cover up his whole gotdamn front of his body.

winky's a good defensive fighter, but beyond his guard, his not all that special. he doesnt move his head, he hardly moves his feet. he just puts up his guard and blocks the punches, which is effective to say the least. but floyd goes beyond the guard. he moves his head, rolls his shoulder, deflects the punches, keeps moving. not taking anything away from winky, its just that floyd's defense is much better.

Wright hands down... those who are voting for Mayweather are simply nuthuggers ;-)

Winky got pounded by Soliman and he has benn down more than once. Id say Mayweather.

pretty boy can pick off a punch as well as roll/dodge one...Winky only picks them off but doest get hit often...Pretty Boy simply doesnt take any punishment what so ever...

PBF easily becuase he slips and gets out the way of punches and instantly counters Winky waits until you stop throwing he goes into a shell, unlike PBF while he is moving out the way of a punch he is also positioning himself to counter its beautyfull to watch

I know everyone is gonna go MAYWEATHER, but allow me to state my reason for picking WINKY WRIGHT as the single greatest defensive fighter to ever fight on television! Name one other fighter that can stand a foot away from his opponent, not throwing a punch and not posing a threat, and still not get hit? Mayweather gets hit while he's running, and your opponent cant really get you when your standing alllllll the way over there... Winky-Taylor is the perfect case for Wright. For 11 out of 12 rounds, Winky Wright stood infront of one of the biggest punchers p4p in the division. He left the ring without a scratch or a bruise on his face! If Mayweather did that against Gatti, he'd get knocked out! But of coarse, Mayweather has outstanding defense. But its more his elusiveness then defense. Hes gets out of the way instead of actually blocking the punches. Granted, they are both styles of defense, But skill, endurance, AND toughness are all involved in letting bombs ricochet off your forearms. Only supreme skill is needed to avoid them! I'm pretty sure Winky's face got busted up in that fight. His cheekbones and eyes were a puffy and you could tell he'd been in a good fight. Unless your talking about the Trinidad fight where he left spotless. Against Taylor he took some good shots. No doubt though his defence is airtight. It's almost impossible to hit him to the body.
