i hope the CONTENDER gets cancaled after season 2!

I don't care too much for the show because the fights are edited so that they look and sound like a Rocky movie. Why try to make boxing something it isn't? To make Norberto Bravo look good :D

im tired of seeing guys like gomez manfredo and mora on every boxing show in the world like their great fighters..especially gomez who is a c- d+ fighter..grady brewer won the last contender so that goes to show you the level of competition of the show..when sergio mora is interviewd he talks too much like he's a 4 or 5 weight division champ or something..i think he's been talking to ray leonard too much..gomez comes to ring with stuff tied around his head like he's a champion..put these guys in with some real competition..gomez vs gatti would sell..mora vs vargas would sell..stop milking these BUMS totally agree with this post.

they walk around like they are the shit. i agree. its not like they arent good fighters, but they will never be great. i enjoy them all a lot though, because all of the fighters from season 1 were and are very entertaining when watching them live. This seasons guys are very sloppy and boring. next season better be all rookies and prospects. thats the only way its fun to watch...

Actually, production wise, The Contender beats Ultimate Fighter. Hands down. It's the fact that Ultimate Fighter shows the whole fight, that makes it the better show in my opinion. Also, that guy who produces Survivor also produces The Contender.

I agree but only partially. The series is good for the sport and reality TV has been hot since survivor. This season's series was really good, with a decent story and such, but the finale lacked punch, to have a pun. I think the better way to go for the contender would be to have amatuer fighters fight a tourney for a pro contract with a promoter. This way, the big heads and attitudes are avoided. Personally, I like Mora and his attitude, but thats me. The dissapointing thing about the way the contender is now (this season particularly) is that the champ (Brewer) has nowhere to go. He's old enough to have accomplished something already, and hasn't. Find the young, high-ranked amatuers who want their shot and do it that way. Edit: The UFC reality show does this, and I think its the best way because it gives the guys the opportunities to make something for themselves in the business, not tout them as champions before their time.

I know UFC is celebrating after watching that boring card with Forbes. They are looking to steal casual boxing fans and make them UFC fans. Fights like these might do it. UFC reality show is 10 times better than contender.

double is exactly right.. i like the show personally. the talent was walter wright, and steve forbes, ebo has decent good skills too.. i didnt see the first season.. but i heard it had much more talent.. they try n keep the show short and sweet... 5 rounders.. there not much a boxer can do in 5 rounds. you can only fight.. dino, relax yourself man.. so many people would jump at an opportunity like the contender.. if they make another one, ill watch it.. hopefully at a low weightclass.. i dont wanna see fat fucks like dino fight..

no matter how much we think that show sucks it still brings boxing back into view for people who arent familiar with the sport. without more people noticing the sport it will continue to be a joke filled with phony champions and rigged scorecards, which is what we have now.

Really the show is geared to non-boxing fans. If it was geared to real fans they would at least show the whole fight! The reality show Ultimate Fighter brought in a ton of new mma fans. If The Contender does that, it will be a good thing for the sport.

One thing you have to remember when watching the show is that it was not made to appeal to boxing fans, it was made to appeal to non boxing fans. That's why it has all the gimmicks and extra story lines (family, etc.). there were 12,000 people at the Staple's center to see the finale live and I'm sure the majority have never been to a match live before. So in the end it helps boxing because it increases it's popularity. If the non boxing fan becomes interested in these so so fighters then they will want to learn about the best fighters as well.

it depends,hes got alot of trainin 2 do and lots to learn,he can get better,hes not a bad fighter really,hes jus been smotherd with all this money and fame since the contender and hes lost in it,once he gets through that stage i think he will be good

I like the show and think it is a great opportunity for some good people.I agree though about the additudes....fcuking Mora is straight bitch and he walks around like he is some kind of Champ.......I hope he gets his fight with Taylor.....it will be the last we hear from him he will get KOed.

Look at a guy like Bravo. You cant even tell how good these guys are. You watch the contender, let them show all the fights with cut scenes & special effects, and it makes these guys look great. Then you watch Bravo fight K-9 live and he doesnt even look like a pro. Ive never seen a guy that slow at that weight class. I know he's older but damn. I GOT SICK OF HEARING BRAVO WINE IN EVERY INTERVIEW..I COULDNT WAIT FOR HIM TO LOSE AND GO HOME..UNFORTANELY IT DIDNT HAPPEN EARLIER AND FEROCITY IS A CLOWN..HE TRYs TO MAKE EVERY MEXICAN FIGHTER GREAT..NOBODY ELSE DOES THAT BUT MEXICANS..

I like the show But I hate all that gimmick stuff they do. Like when you lose you walk out the back of the arena on an empty street. But they do have to make the show viewer friendly to some of the non-boxing fans. I'll still watch it though it is very interesting at the same time.

Mora has good skills and Manfredo is solid. I actully think k9 is decent, and the best to come out of the contender except for maybe Walter Wright.
