Is anyone else tired of HBO and Showtime scheduling big fights on the same night?
October 7: I want to watch Corrales-Casamoyer, but its the same night as a good card on HBO. Who's fighting the Sat. before? Nobody.
November 4: Of course I'm going to buy the PPV on HBO, but now I'm missing Juan Diaz and Roman Karmazin on Showtime. And what's going on a week later? Not a damn thing.
December 2: Winky-Quartey is one I'd like to see, but now I'm missing one of my favorite's in Cotto. Who's fighting Sept. 25th? HA Jesus Chavez is the only fight listed and he doesn't even have a scheduled opponent yet.
I understand its about competition and taking business away from the competitor, but what about the fans? Showtime is losing at least one viewer in me. I would love to pay the $15 for Showtime, but I'd only watch it for the boxing and why do that when they schedule all their fights the same nights as HBO's?
It hurts the PPV's more than anything. If I'm going to watch one live and download the other, then it's obviously the PPV I'm going to download. No brainer. :)
Exactly...
HBO is just screwing themselves up with offering a high profile PPV fight during a free World championship on SHO

What in the world are you talking about??? :bottle:
SHO is always the first Saturday of every month....
HBO is sometimes trying to steal the show as SHO is their # competitor..... plain and simple.
Exactly. HBO is consciously scheduling PPVs and WCB cards on the first Saturday of EVERY month as well, it's unreal. They did it in March (Cotto-Branco), May (De La Hoya-Mayorga PPV), August (Quartey-Forrest), and they are doing it every month for the rest of the year: Oct 7 (Valuev-Barrett), Nov 4 (Mayweather-Baldy PPV), and Dec 2 (Winky-Quartey).
It's intentional, and it sucks for boxing fans, who could conceivably have cards almost EVERY week on either Showtime or HBO (counting ShoBox and BAD) if they didn't do it so much on the same date.
But hey, this is what TiVO is all about.
Its such a waste of good fights, there are plenty of weekends to go around. Im torn between the Lyakovich title fight and Baldy/Floyd on november 4th. I guess ill watch baldy/floyd till floyd gets in the zone then switch.
Fuck, you just made me realize that these are on the same fucking night on two channels. This is as fucked up as it gets, I'm gonna have to watch one of them on the computer and the other one on the TV. Fucken idiots.
If enough people complain about it and if they realize that they are potentially losing subscribers due to their fight scheduling then maybe they'll change their tune and reschedule their fights. It's all about business and I don't know the respective ratings for each network but I'm sure HBO with its higher profile fights beats Showtime when they are head to head. What in the world are you talking about??? :bottle:
