I felt horrible for Toney as I watched his reaction after the scores were read. Granted I wanted to see Toney get KTFO but I really gotta give him respect for how he fought last night. It's a shame to seem him lose in such fashion. There's no way Peter won 116-111. No freaking way.
its a shame for toney, fact of the matter is he talks too damn much, he insults too many people, and it shouldnt be a surprise that hes walking around with a knife in his back today
Were you this upset when DWade was getting all those pussy-ass calls in the finals? I'm guessing not.
That was a low blow.
I don't fuck around with shit like that.
He knows what he's talking about you just said
"All you did was put hot water dry it up and add gress" why my shit got to be a perm homie? Judging by your half ass technique you don't know shit about waves. Don’t be mad at me cus you got kiddie pull waves and I got Tsunamis
I don't have waves no more.
I don't even have a low cut anymore.
The verdict was a disgrace, an absolute disgrace. James Toney clearly won 8, maybe 9 rounds and they give him a split decision loss? You have three inexperienced judges scoring a significant fight, and they let this happen in the boxing capitol of the world. I'm beginning to wonder if the fact that Toney is 38 and has probably less than a handful of fights left in him has anything to do with this, similar to the situation that occurred when Shannon Briggs took a bullshit decision over George Foreman, in Foreman's last outing.
Samuel Peter is perceived by some to be the future of the division, which is not exactly how I see it by any discernable distinction. A win for the guy with more fights left in the forward momentum would generate more money as the hype and attention of Peter is promising to the potential revenue intake. It all seems kind of, I dunno, suspiciously coincidental from my view.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission needs to sit down with these three judges and review the tape with them. If they allow incompetent officiating occur, it will only continue.
yoyo, i agree, but the fight was in california, their commission needs to be on top of that shit, and the judges and the fight needs reviewed!
word up asian!

2000 Olympian and NJ native Jerson Ravello also concurred with the points that Jack, and most objectives viewers of the fight reached:
I MUST SAY THAT BOXING IS BECOMING A JOKE, WELL SAYING IT'S BECOMEING IS A BIT LATE, BOXING IS A JOKE, THE FIGHT TONIGHT BETWEEN TONEY AND PETER, COME ON NOW, WHOEVER KNOWS ABOUT BOXING, AND I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHI THINK THEY KNOW BOXING JUST CUS THEY WATCH IT ONCE IN A WHILE, I'M TALKING ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE FORMER FIGHTERS, ACTIVE FIGHTERS, AND FANS WHO ARE REALLY INTO THE SPORT, THE ONES THAT TRY TO MAKE EVERY FIGHT AND NEVER MISS ONE ON TV, THE FIGHT TONIGHT WAS NOT A HARD FIGHT TO SCORE, TONEY LANDED THE MORE ACCURATE SHOTS THE WHOLE FIGHT, THE WAS TAGGING PETER WITH JABS THE WHOLE NIGHT, AND EVEN THOUGH PETER LANDED LOTS OF GOOD SHOTS, TONEY MADE HIM MISS WAY MORE THAN WHAT HE ACTUALLY LANDED, MY POINT IS THAT PETER WON IN MY EYES 4 ROUNDS THE MOST 5, NOW WITH THE POINT DEDUCTION, HOW CAN HE HAD WON BY THE RIDICULUS SCORE OF 116-111, WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE JUDGES SCORING THE FIGHT ON, ANYWAYS THAT JUST SHOWS THAT BOXING IS FULL OF SHIT, AND THIS IS COMING FROM A BOXER, THAT'S WHY I LET MY HANDS BE MY JUDGE SINCE I CAME BACK, AND THAT'S THE WAY ALL MY FIGHTS WILL BE.
No it doesn't.
When I had a low cut I use to have them shits and all I did was put hot water on my hair, dry it up, and pass this shit on it:

thats not a perm,
those are waves. to call that a perm is an insult.
it takes a lot of care for a black man to get his hair to do that.
No it doesn't.

Jeez, I couldn't watch the fight as I'm living in London right now. I really REALLY have to get a view of this fight.
I started out thinking that all this shouting was just sour grapes but I'm going to have to check all this out.
Don't worry. If there really was a fix, major public commentators will talk a lot about this fight's scoring and if a fix was on, shit will start to fly.
I had Toney winning, but it was far from decisive. He defintely landed the cleaner punches, but he had absolutely no effect on Peter. If the judges were scoring on effective aggression, I can see where they might have seen Toney as ineffective.
Regardless, the Melee at the Buffet, or as I prefer to call it, The Crisco Kid vs. The Pillsbury Homeboy, was a disappointing fight.
I think that Toney has proven that he can take a heavyweight's punch, though he has also proven that he can't phase one.
I feel sorry for Peter. I can see so much potential in that kid, but I have said before that he is being brought along too fast because the of his raw power and the lack of excitement in the heavyweight division. The problem is, he isn't being schooled in how to use it, or how to set it up. He may have a shot at being a champion, but he doesn't possess the skills to keep it long.
I'm going to make myself throw up.
This is shit.
Fuck this shit.

first draw I've heard so far. 2 votes for Peter, 1 for draw, 30+ for Toney. check the polls
I know; I scored it as I went along though, and that's what I came up with.
I scored the fight 6 rounds for Peter, 5 rounds for Toney, 1 round even, 1 point deduction against Peter
It was a draw on my card...

No jealousy.
I just said the perm is nice.
