To be honest, I was never a Gatti fan. I always rooted for Micky Ward. I wanted PBF to expose him. I loved seeing Baldomir silence the fans in Atlantic City. But his destruction was always beautiful. A fighter like Gatti made you watch and if you didn't, you were surely missing a classic.
I view him as an average fighter who was well protected in his backyard to serve as a franchise for New Jersey. Assuming he is done as a contender, how will you remember "Thunder"?
gatti is a b level fighter, but with a champion's heart. people love gatti, he gave us a lot of exciting fights, probably also because he is one of us, most people are not that talented at any one thing and have to work really hard, just like gatti. that's why i like gatti
Maybe as a human punch bag who had bags of heart but couldn`t cut it with the elite at world level. Harsh but true. Gatti is so exciting...but not good enough!
as one of the most exciting, courageous, classy warriors ever saw. His boxing skills was not so great like those top guys but ill put him on top interms of greatness in excitement, bravery, heart and passion for the game
if only gatti is the no.1 p4p today rather than the boring PBF.. boxing will be alive and kicking. UFC and the likes are 6 feet under..
goddamn i wish it were true
the most exciting fighter
very improved fighter
biggest heart
gave so much to boxing
brought fans to boxing
had great class inside and outside ring
gave us some of boxing most amazing classics
most courageous, always fought the best fighters and NEVER BACKED DOWN, didnt duck people
also whats really amazing is having such an extensive and versatile career that he lasted for so long and in good shape, he is really a natural wonder that a boxer could go for over 10 years in the types of fights hes been in
The Bravest, most exiting hit and get hit fighter of this era.
Win some , lose some...who cares it's Arturo Gatti.
The human highlite reel, a real life Rocky Balboa.
to add to wat i said
he wont get remembered as a bum nor will he be remembered as a modern great but he won 2 world titles at 2 dif wieghts and was involved in sum of the best fights for a decade and i dnt see out eclipsing the gatti-ward trilogy in this decade so he cud span as the greatest fights of 2 decades
iron mike tyson is right. He fought threw pain and injuries. He put everything on the line in the ring. One of the most exciting fighters ever IMO. Although it sounds like he wants to fight again.
if boxing had more guys like arturo gatti, it would be mentioned in the same sentence as the words "baseball," "basketball," and "football." its as simple as that.
Not only was Arturo Gatti one of the most exciting fighters in the sport, he was also one of the classiest
How am I an asshole? Just cause Gatti wasn't a top notch fighter and people from that area like u can't admit it. I agree that Gatti was just about the most entertaining fighter around, and his heart was second to none, but lets be realistic. The best fighter he beat was Jesse James Leija.
your an asshole.. anyway..
hate him or love him gatti did great things for boxing.. i love watching the guy fight.. hes the reason why i took interest in boxing.. he always put up a fight, had a huge heart, decent to good boxing skills, and good power. hes the most exciting fighter ive ever seen.. ill remember him as a great warrior..
He will be remembered sort of like Holyfield. They are both Warriors and bring their all to the ring. Gatti will be remembered as one of the most exciting boxers.
