Who do you guys think would've won this fight? I rank Duran as the best lightweight ever so I would say that Duran has enough tools to have beaten PBF.
ur a idiot..its already been established that i know more boxing then everybody on this site...
** That you're a fat fork and couldn't punch your way outta Popeye's chicken bucket? True enough, not to mention you rate one/half star as a historian.
ur a idiot..its already been established that i know more boxing then everybody on this site... ..their was nothing spectular about roberto duran especially @ 135Wow. Well, we did establish something here all right. You are hands down the funniest poster on this board. :D
** You need to go on a diet.
Duran had over 70 fights in the bank, mostly by KO before he carmelized Sugar Ray. Floyd is a smaller, weaker, slower, less talented version of Ray. Duran could eat a 48 OZ porterhouse steak dinner before and after he KOs Floyd along with a quart of icecream, no problem!
ur a idiot..its already been established that i know more boxing then everybody on this site...number 1 the leonard that duran fought the FIRST 2 TIMES was a GREEN sugar ray leonard and everybody knows that..floyd mayeather is not less talened then leonard but he is smaller..leonard is about 5'11 and started his career @ 147 and mayeather is about 5'6 and started @ 126 so ur comparing a welterweight to a super feather is foolish idiot..somebody could say that sugar ray leonard is smaller weaker slower then roy jones ..of course roy is bigger
mosley and mayweather beat duran @ 135...ur just like many other boxing novices you've probably haerd of duran but never seen him fight..their was nothing spectular about roberto duran especially @ 135
some people dont peak in their first weight class..just like james toney was a better fighter at 175 and cruiser then he was at middleweight..because he was young and green
I honestly think Duran takes this fight. Styles make fights and Duran just had the quickness and power at 135 to beat PBF. It would be a great fight but I think Duran KO's PBF in the championship rounds.
No doubt that Duran was one of the best lightweights ever. Definitely top 3. PBF was only there for 4 fights and then moved on. Floyd was great at 130 but he really hasn't stuck around another weight long enough to prove his greatness. Yes, beating Castillo twice was a feat, but Duran would've eaten Castillo up in 8 rounds.
actually..duran WASNT in his prime @ 135..i repeat duran WASNT in his prime @ 135 he never fought anybody at the weight..his best weight was 147..the young green duran @ 135 would easily get outboxed by mayweather..now the more mature duran @ 147 that fought ray leonard and benitez vs mayweather would be a toss up

Well, here's the thing. PBF really should be fighting at 135 RIGHT NOW. Floyd weighed in smaller for his welterweight fights with Sharmba and Judah than BOTH Corrales and Castillo have been weighing. In fact, PBF was 146 walking into the ring for Judah, and Pacquiao was 141 on fight night with Morales.
That gives you an indication of what PBF is doing: he is a lightweight taking on full welters and junior middles. A small man consistently dominating bigger guys.
In that context, it is tough for me not to put PBF on the short list of the greatest LW's ever.
This may very well be true, but i still wouldn't rank him in the top 10 lightweights of all-time. The main reason being, despite fighting larger opponents, other lightweight legends such as Gans, Leonard, Duran, Armstrong, etc. have fought much better opposition. In this case, bigger is not better. I'd say a lightweight De Jesus is a much tougher opponent than a welterweight Judah or Mitchell. Additionally, many lightweights of the past had consistently fought larger men than themselves as well. Mayweather isn't the first to do this.
Duran fought seven years at lightweight compared to the one he spent fighting at welterweight. I think it's safe to say that 135 was Duran's natural and best weight.

Esteban De Jesus knocked Duran down at 135 and he was not big puncher, I guess you don't know much about Duran, he was tough to hit cleanly, his chin was good, but it was not a great chin.
A fight that Floyd won every round. :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
thinking duran would lose to pbf is the gayest sh1t ive heard in my life.
Duran vs PBF??
Duran fought from 130 - 160 at a very high standard and must be regarded as one of the greatest fighters in history. He carried power through the weights and had a very good (possibly very under-rated) defence. The way to think about this is to consider what the modern day version would be. Can you imagine Diego Corrales going through to 160 and being the best or amongst the best?
PBF is, obviously, a fighter in the Sugar Ray Leonard mould. However I'm sure that even PBF's fans wouldn't dream of comparing him to SRL. Duran did occassionaly struggle with the movers but could he hit!! Duran lost the re-match and rubber match with SRL because he was fighting one of the greatest boxers of all time and landed very few effective punches. ("no mas" wasn't Duran quitting through lack of heart)
In fact surely SRL is possibly only behind Willie Pep in being the greatest defensive fighter?
Would PBF be able to avoid a serious Duran punch for 12 rounds at any weight? I don't think so and no matter what weight the bout would be at Duran was able to hurt at that weight.
If we could have this fantasy match I would expect to see a Duran victory via KO in the mid to late rounds.
Floyd Is the Best 130 pounder in History but..........
Floyd is good, the best fighter in the world if he fights at 140 or below, but I don't know if he could have taken Duran. Castillo gave him a tought fight the first time and Duran was faster and put on more pressure than Castillo. I think Floyd is the greatest 130 pounder in history, but I think Duran would have beaten Mayweather if it was a fifteen rounder. I hate to say it, but I think Whitaker beats both of them at 135 even though overall I consider Duran to be greater than Pernel since he went 15 with Hagler, is the only man to beat a prime Leonard, and since he beat Barkley who is a very big man.
Duran is a different level than Mayweather and most of the fight today.
He is one of the kind I think he could KO Mayweather in the midrounds.
If you seen the documentary about Duran SRL said himself that he knew that Duran was weak in the next match because something with Duran culture where they treat him as a hero and feed him til he got fat. See Beyond Glory about it.
But it could go either side because Mayweather could fustrate Duran to and Duran is sometimes not focus in boxing but in doing crazy stuff.
Duran's defence is sooo underrated. He is better than Mayweather in practically every aspect of the game other than handspeed. Duran in his prime, Mayweather has no chance against him. F****K Duran was about a point a way from wresting Hagler of the Middleweight title way past his prime and natural weight class.
Don't tell me you thought Duran won the fight against Benitiz.
I've watched the fight but never scored it, and what i ment is Benitez and Mayweather bring in two differnt boxing styles. Benitez can stand right in front of you and make you miss punchs, while Mayweather uses his legs to get him out of danger.
yah Gatti is no welterweight. At the most he's a 140lb fighter.
His power is slightly overrated. He KO'd tons of smaller guys.
eg. Gamache, Leija, Dorin, Munoz, Millet all dramatic KO's and all much smaller fighters.
Probably the only one i give him credit of ko that was impressive was his ko of Leija, though i think Leija was getting up and the ref then stopped the fight.
Gamache had a glass chin, Millet had a weak chin, Munoz looked like they got him for the audience, Dorin was a body shot who came back to fight with no fire in him.
