To be fair to Calzaghe, i think it's just been circumstances which have got in his way, he just hasn't been lucky throughout his career, although he always seemed too laid back about fighting the best out there, and Warren isn't exactly a help either.

Joe Calzaghe is going to return to the scene of his greatest ever win on October 14th when he fights at the MEN Arena in Manchester. His opponent has yet to be decided but Ricky Burns will be facing John Murray on the undercard. Who do people think he will be fighting? It won't be Johnson or Woods as they will have fought only 6 weeks prior to this. I think this'll be worth goin to, as that undercard fight'll be a corker and hopefully Joe'll be fighting someone worth while. Calzaghe COULD NOT fight Beyer on Octboer 14, but he CAN fight some drunkard from underneath a Cardiff bridge (or whoever else FWarren will sell us as the most threatening opponent to date).

Funny thing is when Calzaghe was negotiating with Beyer, the only thing that kept the deal from being done was Calzaghe insisting on an early september date. Beyer couldn't do it as his cuts from previous fight needed more time to heal. So instead Beyer turned to Kessler - and they agreed on the 14. october date. But NOW Calzaghe ends up fighting at the same date he couldn't wait for earlier. Funny stuff. Makes you really wonder wtf is wrong with mr. Warren. I mean with Calzaghes fame and all, why is it, with the exception of the Lacy fight, that Warren has succeded in getting NO meaningful fight for Calzaghe for such a long time? Anyway not surpricing that Calzaghe never mentions Kessler or Beyer. I remember in connection with the Lacy fight, a journalist asked Calzaghe about "the other two champs" (Beyer and Kessler). Joe's reply was: "Noone cares about the other champs!". I gues that's how he feels and he's gonna stick to it.

And Calzaghe fight exact the same day Kessler meet Beyer,maybe it is not a accidental.Calzaghe wins,Kessler beat Beyer and then,Calzaghe and Kessler unify on 14 jan 2007 on my birthday.Maybe i dreaming maybe not

Calzaghe cant be in make boxing history like that. He should fight quality opponenet in there hometown too and fight guys in the US. He is too big and now to fight in Britian

I hope he's fighting someone that is worth talking about He won't fight a worthwhile opponent again. He'll probably defend his belts against a few small timers and then he'll retire whilst riding the wave of popularity that he has after beating lacy.

I'm not holding my breath for a quality opponent, or even an actual match for that matter i wish i could disagree but i think you're completely correct. i'd half expect it not to happen, and if it does he'll be fighting some guy with a solid record that we've never heard of. its a shame he's fighting these guys who might be pretty decent but dont have a rep so he gets no credit. take mger mkrtchian. unheard of before calzaghe fought him, gets stopped in 7 - so what? but since then he's gone on to win the european title and look pretty good.
