Incredible fight from 2005 that probably would have won fight of the year if not for Castillo/Corrales I (but thank god it did happen). This fight was a gem and both guys showed their cajones to be huge. Both guys hurt on a couple of occassions, both guys lay it all out on the line the entire time. Miguelito was on some beast like shit getting caught with that uppercut combo and not going down. He may get rocked by punches but he never wants to go down. Enjoy the highlights and discuss...
you really think so? I wonder if your confusing the 2nd fight with the first one. I thought the first fight sesawed in the early rounds and was extremly exciting.
Yeah I think so,Im pretty sure Arce was winning it by a fair margin at the time of the stoppage.
I think what made it exciting was, seeing what arce would do considering he had that big cut on his face.
It was up against some hard competition for fight of the yearI would rank Castillo corrales and Morales-Pac above it.
But Not Arce-Hussein I , That fight was a pretty one-sided affair.

This fight was not even close to fight of the year. It was a GREAT fight without a doubt, but there was 3 fights that were better IMO.
Castillo-Corrales I
Arce-Hussein I
Morales-Pacquiao I
Cotto-Torres
However, it was a great fight.

i cant wait for this guy to get into the ring with a B or better level fighter.
I dunno dude but I would say he's fought better comp than your boy Paul Williams, plus your boy has more fights than Cotto.
BURRRRNNNNNN!!!11!
Sorry, had to do it.
Since when is 3 wks equivalent to 3 months most fighters get. You need time to study your opponent, watch film, etc. If it did not matter, why was it mentioned by the commentators and experts alike?
it does matter, always has, always will. i cant wait for this guy to get into the ring with a B or better level fighter.
They were scheduled to fight in December, Branco got hurt, fight was offered to Torres and he took it. He's people said they took the fight ahead of time 'cause Torres was ready.

all the shit about cotto's "questionable" chin is silly. the dude gets too exited and starts throwing like a madman and gets caught but he deals with it well. once he gets just a little more patient. he will be even more fun to watch than he already is.
what say you chucketh?

You're right about Corley, but Torres was asked about "Cotto's weight advantage". Torres answered that he wasn't worried as he usually weights around 156 at fight night.
Cotto catches a lot of shit for his chin but like Gringo said...he just refuses to go down.
He reminds me a bit of Evander Holyfield in this regard...Holy was considered to have a great chin...not really true though...what made Holy special was once you did hurt him (which wasnt all that hard to do) it was nearly impossible to finish him.
Cotto appears to have that very same quality...I think.
Cotto catches so much shit for his chin because he's getting hurt by guys that are 10 -20 pounds lighter than him. Evander was hurt at heavyweight , where he was the smaller guy.

AMEN to that my little snowflake.

All the folks praising Cotto, you do realize that Torres took the fight on two weeks notice? Such a great fight but no one has talked about a rematch? hmmmmmmmmmm.
He took the fight with 3wks noticed (it was make official 2 wks before the fight). He was in good shape as he just had an easy victory (3rd KO) over Edwin Vasquez 1 month with 3wks before.

I think comparing him to Gatti is talking bad about his skills, yes he has heart but he's not as blatantly aggresive, almost stupid, as Gatti is. I think he's on a much higher level than gatti skill wise.
also it can be a bad thing to be called the PR Gatti, if you ever step in the ring with Mayweather you definitly don't wanna be like Gatti.
Yeah, I definitely agree. I wasn't saying that it was a good thing, I just reported what Merchant said. I definitely think Cotto is much more skilled than Gatti. It would shock me if some would say otherwise.
