sloppiano got that 8 count
after archie moore knocked him
down. the rules for that fight
said there was not to be a 8 count.
archie moore knocked him down the ref gave
slopiano an 8 count allowing him to recover
if the ref would have followed the rules
slopiano would have lost. but the ref was
prolly on the pay roll. after that
fight slopiano retired cuz he knew that
he could not beat archie moore a lightheavywieht
with out gettin a break or cheatin
Henry Cooper won that fight by KO and the fight should be retroactively awarded to him. Clay-Ali had won three fights in a row by blatant cheating at that point - the two Liston travesties and then the Henry Cooper robbery. Clay-Ali should have been banned from boxing for life right then and there.
I recently watched a film of the Cooper-Clay fight #1 on ESPN. they spliced the tape so that there was no indication whatsoever of the length of time between the rounds, and they made no mention of it at all! Big Brother-style political correction of history!
War is peace.
ww
They didn't splice the tape idiot. If you watch it, everyone in the film is in the same position when the film jumped, so there was olny an extra 9-10 seconds that Clay got.
this is pointless, ur just a moronic broken record with no points of arguement and no knowledge of this sport.
Get off his dick then. Why are you waiting for him to make another post just to reply on it? If you dont care about morons like him, then atleast act like it.
Anyway, Marciano wasn't close to getting ko'd. Even if Moore was allowed to go right after him, right after he got up, he wasn't HURT. No way.
read about the fight before
you open your mouth

ur right, he had illegal help from his trainer.
you complain about history yet you know nothing about history, or anything else for that matter.
you have no room and no right to argue anymore. you lost ur right to argue when you made this thread.
you lost the right to argue
when you showed your lack
of knowledge of boxin
yeah but at leats clay
did not have hlep from the referee
with an illegal eight count

I'm starting to question whether you actually watched the Clay-Cooper I fight or not. It only takes a couple of seconds to clear your head? You think they should make it a 2 second count instead of 10?

if he did not recieve those extra
2 seconds he would have been ko
it only takes a copule of second to clear your
head.

The answer to your question is that Mike Tyson Jr. is a little bitch and a fucking idiot.
I am usually not one to bash someone on this site, but I totally agree.

And what he couldn't have backed away for two seconds or clinched for two seconds. It literally took 2 seconds for him to regain all of his faculties and be able to fight effectively so how hurt could he really have been?
good post
i just watched the fight (thanks kid achilles) and this is wat i saw.
1.moore lands a clean jab, marciano seems unfased.
2.marciano lands a nice uppercut, that snaps back moores head.
3.moore throws and off balance left straight, marciano looses balance and falls.
4.marciano gets up at the two count, but the ref makes a mistake and counts two extra seconds (to four) even though there was no standing eight count.
5.marciano if fine, and it seems clear that the 2 seconds had nothing to do with his ability to fight, as he never looked truly hurt.

Guy on the bottom left corner at ringside looks alot like Julian from the Trailer Park Boys.
What is the point of trying to diminish a boxing legend's status on a forum like this? Anyone who is remotely swayed by the bullshit being proposed here is a complete idiot. So much so, in fact, that we probably all already know the person to be a moron- and take their opinion accordingly. This thread is more than pointless because most of us here are to educated in the 'sweet science' to be influenced by any false claims made about great boxers. Nice try, though?

The British boxing newspaper 'Boxing News' conducted an investigation into the 'split glove' incident in 2003. Using the original television and radio broadcasts to determine length of time between rounds 4 and 5 it was discovered that Cassius Clay only gained 5 seconds extra and not the mythical 3-5 minutes. The gloves were never changed. After this fight a spare pair of gloves was always required ringside. Ali was obviously impressed by the knockdown and on the 40th anniversary telephoned Cooper to reminisce. Ali later said, on British television, that Cooper "had hit him so hard that his ancestors in Africa felt it". In 1966 they met a second time to contest the world title. Cooper succumbed again to his weakness, a tendency to cut, and Ali went on to be "The Greatest".
Even in his 1980 book about Ali and a few others he laughs at the media creation of the glove contreversy. Ali WAS saved by the bell, but he didn't gain 5 minutes from the slicing of gloves.
Everyone just stop talking bad of Marciano and Tyson. Both are legends and great fighters. Maby not the greatest, but you have to agree they are both up there with Ali,Louis,Foreman and such.

The ironic thing is Tyson loved Marciano and boxing history in general and if Mike heard this kid badmouthing a legend like the Rock he would cuss him out and probably bitch slap him.
It's too bad you don't have half the respect for the sport that your idol does.
your a idiot
Thank you. How you can bash a guy like Marciano that was good for the SPORT of boxing and love Tyson who disgraced the sport so many times is beyond me. I like both guys but would never denigrate a legend like Marciano.
