He should have been getting this credit after beating Judah. I think it's noteworthy to take out Gatti, but the Judah victory was more meaningful in my opinion.
Gatti is not, and never was overrated. People who say that are just annoyed that he has so many fans. The reason he has fans is because of his style, and his dramatic fights...not because people think he is a p4p star.
and the thing about that is..he didnt even beat judah..judah won the first 6 rounds..and the last 2
I think Baldomir did enough to win against Judah, it was a close fight though.
oh im sorry Dino i didnt judge the fight. the judges did. go are your point with them
why would they rob judah in NY against a 16 to 1 underdog WHEN he has a fight with Floyd pending??
please just answer that
arent u the same guy that said in another thread that collazo would crush spinks? and hattons bum opponents are more crediable then mayweather?
My mind told me Gatti was gonna lose but my heart wanted him to win because he was/is such a gutsy fighter. For those like me who often bet real money these scenarios mean DONT BET. I could've put my money on Baldomir because I had very strong objective opinion that he would win but I HATE cheering against a guy or team I really like just because I got money on the other guy.
Gatti = credit to the sport and solid respected champion that did a lot with his limited natural talent. HOF hmmm, probably not, its like putting Rudy in the College Football HOF.
Baldomir has to be given credit for his last 2 wins. He beat 2 solid fighters and he might not be the best 147lb but like it or not he is THE MAN TO BEAT at 147lbs.
charlie are u retarded? u judge a fight round by round..not who the hell got wobbled in 1 round...baldomir had 3 or 4 good rounds the whole fight and that was one of them..3 good rounds out of 12 u dont win

Because fans are dumb and wish washy. They pick gatti to KO Baldomier and when the opposite happens, Gatti was wash upped, blah blah. when the truth of the matter, even if Gatti was in his prime he would have lost to baldomier, he doesnt have the skills to move up in weight and be effective. He is a brawler at best and bigger men can take his punch. I think he is a nice fighter and will get in the HOF because of his fights at the lower weights.

Because most people wrote him off against Gatti, although he was trash....Bald shut the world up and when you are able to shut people up with action and not just words, you deserve credit...
gatti doesnt suck, but baldy shouldnt get too much credit for beating a smaller guy, thats been through the ringer and was never really a great fighter to begin with... the zab win was much more meaningful... and baldy has no chance against PBF..

You are right... Judah is a more meaningful victory but you have to think about where other people are coming from. Plenty of people thought that the only reason Baldomir beat Judah was that Judah came in unprepared and is generally weak mentally. Therefore people thought the Judah win was a fluke. No doubt Gatti is not as talented as Judah, but people expected him to come in fully prepared and hungry to regain a title. After Baldomir beat him convincingly it made people look back at the Judah fight and think "maybe Judah didn't blow it as much as Baldomir took it." That's my personal take on the situation.
Well, you can give Baldomir credit for winning but you can't say he's a great or even really good fighter. Beating up Gatti means nothing, and Judah lost that fight himself by running.
Correct, as are you Godzhand. Beating Judah was definately a better accomplishment. I watched the fight with my girlfriend and had wagered Gatti was going to win... within the starting half of the 3rd round I told her that Baldomir would knock him out by 11 rounds. She said by 9 rounds. Even she can see what's painfuly obvious... and that's that Gatti is an old, overrated, ammusing fighter and nothing more.
Props to Baldomir though... about as many props as can be given for such a win.

Because he was the prohibitive underdog and beat two former champions in a row.
And I dont think Gatti sucks, he is a solid fighter IMO.
But watching him try and box was funny at times.
