Keep in mind I have not watch either of the two Mosley/Vargas fights.
However, from what I have read here some of you thought that Vargas was staging a comeback in the first fight prior to the stoppage.
Some of you even thought he was winning on points.
You also thought he'd win the rematch and some of you seemed EXTREMELY sure of it.
So, since Vargas lost and from what I heard, he was soundly beaten.
What do you think happened?
Why was Vargas taken out so easily in this match as opposed to the first match?
Why wasn't he able to go the distance and win some rounds against Mosley?
What do you think of him as a fighter now and what do you think he should do next?
Nice post. I agree with everything except number 1. I don't agree with one boxing ruining you... There is a minimal chance one fight has that big of an effect on you. Heavyweights are a little different with that rule though.
he was never the same after Tito. after the tito fight he took some time off then fought Wilfredo Rivera and got dropped with a soft short right hand. Before Tito, Vargas had never been dropped. The tito fight was a systematic 12 round beating not just one punch. That fight damaged him.
there is 4 things that changed vargas career:
1. fighting tito trinidad
2. steroid use going into the dlh fight.
3. the back problems
4. extreme balloning up in weight between fights.
all these things together lead to the end of his career.

Some people are taking this Vargas shit to the heart.
My sister is married to a mexican, they are in relation by in-law. Nobody wants to "be" whatever race is in my family. In that case, they would want to be a bunch of puerto rican/american black folks which is hardly the case. So what..your supposed to cheer for someone who is the same race as you no matter the idiocy that person displays? If that was the case, id be the biggest camacho jr fan on the planet. Which would be retarded since i cant stand the guys inconsistency. I think your grip on reality is very warped and I think statements like this only fuel the reaons as to why this place is so moronic sometimes.
You dont need to like a boxer of a certain race to have pride in your race, there are far more important and proactive ways to have pride than watching a loud mouthed moron get his block knocked off every 2 years. Get a fuckin grip.
hahahahaha, yeah man that's true. I was rooting for him vs. trinidad but i wasn't ever a huge fan of his. he was like im a mexican that doesn't run like DLH, but after the fight i was like damn, maybe you should have run, at least a little. it was a great fight but that shit ruined him, i guess we should appreciate him because he went to war with guys who beat his ass for our viewing pleasure. When DLH beat his ass, i was jumping around cuz DLH does his talking in the ring.
i guess i just never liked real arrogant mouthy guys, especially if they got their ass handed to them every time they stepped up.
Mosely made 4 million homie!!!! Don't get it twisted.
thats a load of crap. Vargas was the price of the ticket not Mosely. Sure Mosely deserves millions but he made 3mill not 4mill hombre.
Vargas made a cool 3.4 million to Mosely's 3 million. Not bad pay for getting shagged in the 6th! :p

Vargas is done. He lost the 4 biggest fights of his life all by knockout. He was a cool dude, but I hope people don't overrate him in the future because in all honesty he accomplished next to nothing in terms of boxing aside from winning some meaningless titles. His best win is against Ike Quartey, which means jack shit in boxing considering most of the general public has no clue who Quartey is. Most people felt he lost to Wright also. I love Vargas and his style, but he was nowhere close to a great or elite fighter.

Even the mexicans in your family?...something tells me the mexicans in your family are wannabe whatever race you are...they are scumbags who don't have pride in their own race...just like your family who looks for other races to better themselves

you are a shitty, racist person. i hope you realize that.
shane looked great last night, i think vargas needs to stop boxing. i thought shane was going to get another tko but not until like round 8-11. the fact that this fight only went 6 says alot, i want to see shane fight mayweather more than i want to see oscar fight mayweather at this point.
he should take an extended break and get that back surgery done. He looked awful last night, so slow, no lateral movement, no pop on his punches, shane made him look like a 38 year old 28 year old. and get a new crew, he was nowhere close to ready for this fight.
man i'm tired of people saying that shane and vargas lost it. especially vargas. i mean the guy is only like 28 he supposed to be in his prime now. even though he had injuries so what. he would've never beaten shane trust me. especially before. vargas is a pretty good fighter but he is no shane winky tito or dlh. who did vargas really beat before? winky who he should have lost to?
it's not who he beat before it's the way he used to fight. He was much better fighter before trinidad. He was quicker, put punches together, had more power & IMO had a better chin. I've always routed for Vargas and I'm very disapointed in the way he lost but he needs to retire & enjoy life after boxing before he really gets hurt.

In the third round realized choosing Vargas to win was a mistake. The fire, energy and power were gone.
Vargas should fight at whatever weight he is comfortable and take on some lesser level boxer to see if he still can win.
see people were thinking mosley was shot
when he wasnt he jsut had some tough fights
now vargas got beat down in 2 big fights
been injured and never really been the same
now hes the shot fighter
mosley has always been the better fighter
he is much fresher and faster
just better period
it was a matter of styles and skills

Vargas sucks and everyone here knew it.....
Vargas should give Javier Castillejo a rematch and try to take the belts that he just got from Sturm away.
Mosley looked to be in totally different class than Vargas.
Vargas needs a fight to showcase if he still has skills and power. Fight Ishe Smith or someone to test if he can still fight.
