mosley got his way. so he's already got a slight mental edge on vargas, which was part of the thing to begin with.
"Mosley KOs Gatorade!
Representatives of Shane Mosley today secured a court order today to prohibit Fernando Vargas from drinking Gatorade during their fight Saturday night in Las Vegas. Fighters on the undercard will be allowed to use sports drinks approved by the Nevada Commission."

This is gotta be one of the most ridiculous things that's happened in boxing for awhile. WTF, your bringing a case in court to ban your opponent from drinking freakin gatorade! And then threatening to call off the fight if it(gatorade) is allowed! What a bitch Mosley is; I hope this motivates Vargas even more to knock him out.
Before all this happened I was rooting for Mosley, now I'm hoping Vargas knocks his ass out and then during the postfight interview lifts a cold bottle of gatorade to his mouth!
dropping down from 150 to 147 is one thing. dropping down from cruiserweight to 154 is a totally different thing. mosley, mayweather, dlh, roy jones, etc, these guys do not drain themselves. Vargas, Margarito, Corrales, Castillo, Gatti, Cotto, etc, these guys kill themselves to make weight because they want an extra edge, bullying smaller guys. And I do not respect that, at all. period. If you do, fine, it's just my opinion that it's a pussy move to fight guys a lot smaller than you. If they gotta kill themselves to make weight, small price to pay to be fighting someone much smaller than them.
Your so wrong guys like moslry mayweather dlh and jones add hopkins to that list as well do not let their weights flutuate from fight to fight. because they stay disclaplined and never leave the gym from the day after their last fight to their next fight night. They are doing the same things as the punk asses you mention except not letting themselves baloon up between fights because of lack of disapline. All of those good guys you mentioned would gain wieght just like your bad boys if not for thier disipline.
In my opinion the Mosley camp is well aware of how hard it is for Vargas to make weight.
The physical effects of almost complete dehydration to make weight as we all know is very tough on the body. Especially with a little more then 24 hours to rehydrate and refuel the body with carbs.
It is also suspected of one of the reasons that Vargas swelled up so grossly in their first fight.
Vargas is at a severe disdvantage at this weight class, and the mosley camp is aware of this.
Vargas is messing with his future as far as his career and his health for one more payday before he is completely shot.
Mosley UD.
I don't think Vargas took this fight for a payday, he took it cause he felt he could have won had the fight not been stopped. And he possably could have won, it was an extremly close fight. Vargas is taking this fight cause he wants redeption, he could have moved up in weight and probably already have challenged Taylor for a good payday if it was only about the money but its not its about defeating Mosley.

cris byrd never had power at 168 let alone 200+ what he had was speed and skill. In a way he may have less of an anvantage moving down than staying at HW because the guys will be faster and punch harder at CW. I think cris gives up more by moving down because he has a great HW chin and is faster and better skilled than all Hw he has ever faught exceot klischko and the untamed menatally dranged beast Ike. I just think in an issue of weight that byrd is giving up more than he is gaining. Does byrd hit harder than bell, haye, or drozd, no no and no. is he faster than any of the not really. He has much better defence but that is it and may be that will be enough at CW but I am very skeptical. Moving down to CW has taken half of his arsinal that he had at HW away.
call me crazyyy, BUTTTT
could alllll this nonsense be a commercial for Gatorade :)
ya, Mosley and his boys are probably getting a couple years supply of free Gatorade for this publicity stunt :D
Answer this question.....Do you like food?
Cause those fighters their sure do. You know what happens when one over eats? They get fat. Especially a fighter. You know Pacquiao probably ballons to 160 right?
Mosley was killing himself to make lightweight for many years. In the amatures before he turned pro he was fighting at 139.lbs, he turns pro and drops more weight to get an advantage.
Hopkins does the same thing, from light heavyweight to middleweight, having to be a vegitarian to sustain his low un-natural weight.
Gatti, well its well documented no need to say anything.
John Brown a former lightweight title contender drops weight to 130, becomes champion, then loses his title in his first defence to the fighter he took it from.
Chris Byrd a heavyweight is dropping weight to compete with the lower weight crusierweights and he is going to get ko'd.
You think all it takes is for a fighter to lose weight and he will reign supreme at the lower weight class, LOL!
But that is part of the theory. Chis byrd was a bad example. You cut wieght to maintian a power advantage even though drained that is what you do and you cut weight because you are bigger trying to come down. Do you think diego coralis is anything but some what of a natural junior middle wieght. The point is to some extent that fighters do very unreasonalble and unatural things to their bodies to fight in instances were they are the much bigger and stronger man but at the sam weight as there much smaller foes. they do not do it for fun i can gaurentee you that.
I think sports drinks should be allowed as long as both fighters agree on it. who really thinks that sports drinks can make a huge difference on the safety of fighters? I dont mean to sound heartless, but do you really think that sports drinks could have saved the lives of the two fighters that passed away?
Vargas is the one who wouldn't take a 1 million dollar bet. And who got his ass KTFO by DLH. So Vargas, according to you, got knocked out by both a bitch and a pussy.
Knocked out and stopped via swelling in a very close fight are two very different things.

Still doesn't take away the fact the it was a bitch move by Delahoya and a pussy move by Mosley.

I forgot to add....Delahoya is a bitch and Mosley is a pussy, Delahoya should not be denying the sport drink since he's said in the past that he wants to make boxing safer for the fighter, well here was his chance to accept a rule for the safty of the fighter and instead he fights to deny a fighter that safty, what a bitch. Then Mosley talking about how confident he is and how he is looking for the ko, and now look at him whinning about Gatorade when both can use the sports drink, instead he files a complain in front of a judge, what a pussy.

Who doesn't drop down in weight? Everybody does it, they defenitly ain't pussies i'll tell you that, boxing ain't won in the weigh in, its won in the ring.

i am absolutely amazed at how many people can pick vargas over mosley. did ya see their first fight? i'm thinking mosley is even more dominating than he was the first time. he's better on every single level except power. hand speed, footspeed, chin, stamina, technique, ring generalship, defense, offense, everything. heart is the only place I'd say they're probably tied. Although Vargas would've been knocked out by Forrest if he would've receieved the same headbutt Mosley did in that first fight.
Vargas isn't knocking Mosley out, so the only way for him to win is on points. Against a master boxer? I don't think so, unless they screw Mosley.
If I'm wrong, i'll be the first to admit it and give Vargas all the WELL DESERVED props in the world.
yeah I was really kidding about 190 and people chugging gatorade, of course, they can drink whatever they want before the bell rings (as long as it isn't a drug or something).
Same day weigh ins were done away with for pussys who have to drain themselves to make weight because they don't want to fight in their appropriate weight classes. I have no sympathy for that. I love Vargas, but he's wrong for doing that. Real fighters don't need to drain themselves like that.
If you can't fight at a reasonable weight close to your natural weight then you shouldn't fight.

Vargas can drink anything he wants to before the fight. He could rehydrate to '190' (no he doesn't go that high in reality) with water. The issue is about what they can drink between rounds. Same-day weighins were done away with to protect fighters. There are problems with both methods though. It cannot be dealt with. Fighters will always avoid fighting at their appropriate weight.
