undefinedundefined DUDE YOU ARE RETARDED,
He's also done a lot to harm boxing. He became more known for his terrible out of ring antics rather than his skills between the ropes. You haven't been a boxing fan for very long perhaps when you see and learn more of other fighters you'll have a less biased oppinion.
And I agree, Boxing is the best sport and is way better than football.
"Harm boxing", lol, I hear this a lot, but mainly from reporters spewing their b.s. all over the camera or on my newspaper...ever hear the saying "There is no such thing as bad publicity", though I do have some things that could counter that, but not what Tyson did...maybe the rape, but that is up to debate based on how it was presented in court vs other facts that weren't allowed to be heard...Tyson, love him or hate, didn't ruin the sport, why? because when Tyson fought, everybody watched; even when he came out of prison and wasn't the same fighter...he loses, people still watched...how many other boxers could draw such a viewing (both on T.V. and attendance in crowd)? maybe a few at the time, like Oscar, Holyfield, ????...the point is, Tyson kept boxing alive and the proof is right now: few people on the streets talk about boxing, and it is not because of Tyson; well, maybe a little, since he wasn't a good fighter anymore, due to age, time away/rust, and lack of training...the bottom line, when there is an exciting fighter, people will watch...like Cus D'amato said, "You need two things from a Fighter, Character, and Skill"
It is kind of like saying "Ty Cobb was killing baseball"

No he isn't....................
For a good 3 years he really was one of the best P4P guys, Tyson was never the same after Douglas knocked him out.
But no Tyson is not the greatest P4P of all time, not even in my top 10.
I don't think you can rate him as the best either since he is more of "Should of been/had the talent to be", but you have to give him this, for his height, he did well, and for a man that weighs 220lbs to have the ability to move that fast, throw combinations and move like a middle-weight (if not better), and had the power to back it up (which is rare to have that type of combination in the heavyweight division), that says a lot.
People like Tyson, in the heavyweight division, how many have you ever really seen with that type of ability?
And, if you look at what I said, this is why people love him and hate him: they loved watching him in his prime because they thought they were witnessing greatness, then shit happens and he couldn't handle it (though reasonable), and people hated him for it...they didn't want to think he was that good anymore because they didn't want to feel the letdown.
Holmes did more damage in 11 rounds then Fraizer did in 41.
I have to disagree. Ali took the most punishment from that ass whipping he took from Frazier in 71.

what the hell is this for. talk about :hijacked:
Interesting that the Ring magazine didn't even list him in the top 15 greatest punchers of all time!
Not sure if I agree with that!

Well if it wasnt for "Iron" Mike. I wouldnt have ever known about Boxing. I became a fan about 4 months after the Mcbride fight. Because of Tyson I now know that the greatest sport is not football but the "Sweet Sience". Tyson did a lot for Boxing, he's done a lot for me. To me he is the greatest.

He's a Top 10 HW for sure.
But there are only a few Heavyweights that could come close to the P4P list. Tyson is not there.
Yep for me Tyson is definitely a top ten heavyweight, no argument!
I don't, I like Mike Tyson. I like him enough to give him respect where it's due and not blow his career out of all proportion like the typical Tyson nuthugger.

what the hell ru talking about. and sorry professor hatton if my spech isnt upto parewithyours
I seriously couldn't care mate, I was just fuckin with you because you called me an idiot for stating my opinion!
My point exactly!
Tyson was a very good heavyweight and he deserves respect for that but he is not one of the greats of the sport!

Agreed, but then again how can you be taken seriously if you write like a two year old?
Oh and you didn't answer my question earlier, do you remember the original Smith fight and the original fallout after the fight or is your opinion based on video footage from the eighties alone?

By having a plan B or even a plan C.
Tyson continued to chase Smith around the ring and Smith continued to run and hold when Tyson got within striking distance.
A true great would have quickly realised that this was not working and attempted to do something out of the box!
You name it, he could have tried double feints, switch of stance, worked off the back foot, fast arm type combo's etc etc etc.
The problem was he didn't, he looked lost and it became more like a wrestling/ballroom dancing exhibition!
Tyson was a great fighter and probably the most exciting fighter of modern times but he was limited in ability, granted his hand and foot speed and power was amazing but in the end that was just not enough!
This of course is only my opinion, I am also a huge Tyson fan but I am also a fan of the sport and in my opinion he was not good enough to be classed as a p4p great!
he did do double feints
You just hate Mike Tyson
