Which fight would allow him to still have respect win or lose a fight against Winky Wright or a fight against Antonio Margarito? Which fight in most of the boxing publics eyes would Floyd have nothing to lose and everything to gain??
Thats a question I was asking myself today. And personally if Floyd is going to take a fight against somebody bigger then him I can only see it really being against a Winky Wright or a big name like DLH. In the Margarito case if he Margarito somehow beats Floyd everybody is going to discount Floyd's legacy. If Floyd were to however face a guy like Winky Wright he would get nothing but props win or lose because Winky Wright just fought the MW champion of the world to a draw and is already known around the world as one of the best P4P fighters out there.
So my point behind this thread basically is if Floyd ever decides to face somebody that is much bigger the him and that is a very high risk fight I'd expect him to face Wright before he would face Margarito because Floyd's stock wouldn't drop if he lost to Wright but it would if he lost to Margarito.
Well he fought DLH at 154, does he have your respect now?
He won comfortably. He could fight at 154 and face bigger opponents, but the money is at 147 i guess.
Id like for him to pit his skills against bigger opponents.
It could be more of a challenge for him.
I gotta agree with Iron Mike on this one, Tony isn't that big of a threat to PBF( I dont think hatton is either tho), I just think he needs to prove himself by fighting Margarito at 147, but he's not a big name like Floyd (or even Hatton) to be calling someone out and saying he's scared when he doesn't fight him. You gotta see this from all angles, you can get 8 million for a fight with Tony, or more with a fight against the winner of Vargas/Mosley. Even if he truely didn't want to fight Margarito, if there's ever been a time where Mayweather can be somewhat cautious it's now, under a year from a fight against one of the best fighters in the world for more money then he's made his whole career, just commmon sense to me.
Better? According to who? :D
The truth is Hatton is much more HYPED and Pbf will have an eassier time fighting Hatton than Marg. Marg is much more of a HIGH RISK opponent for Pbf and he doesn't want to take that risk.
i disagrea
even tho toni is a good fighter i dont beleive he poses as much of a big threat to mayweather has hatton.
i beleive if hatton comes in the best shape of hes carear he will lose closely or beat him. billy graham and hatton have been saying for about a year that they have got the game plan and the style to beat mayweather and i believe it
Winky said he wants the best, He says when he retires he wants too be remembered as the 1 who fought the best.... The will be no Winky Floyd fight for awhile Winky's got too have his rematch with taylor
I see a fighter, An ordinary fight fan would want De La Hoya VS Mayweather or Winky VS Mayweather but a real fan who knows boxing wants Margarito VS Mayweather....Do yous agree
But as yous have said he's got nothing too gain and everything too loose againt Margarito.
agree with the de la and pbf fight being the fight anyone would appreciate including the ordinary fan. the winky fight can be an avid fan's fight as well as tonys. however seeing winky and floyd, i think is unrealistic until floyd fights de la hoya or tony first.
I bet some kind of deal is being negotiated right now.... Margarito deserves a shot at the pretty boy. Winky also said he wants the best in the buisness.
Why force Hatton who doesn't to fight him and ignore Marg who's already presenting himself?
Because Hatton is the better, more respected fighter.
Honestly, both Floyd and Hatton are shitheads for not even TRYING to negotiate a fight.
We will probably never know what is really happening behind the scenes, either.
I'm a real boxing fan, & I'd like to see PBF/DLH or Winky, but I would like him not to risk a fight with Winky until after DLH, I'd love to see him fight Margarito, but at 147 not at 154. I think he and Hatton are facing the same dilema, they need to prove themselves at WW before moving on (up or down), that just how I see it.
What fighter could he fight that would not give this kind of outcome?
Lots.
Oscar De La Hoya
Winner of Mosely / Vargas
Winky Wright
Hell even Tito if he came out of retirement
Ricky Hatton (if it was at 140, which I doubt will happen)
And I garuntee Floyd isn't going to fight Baldomir if he wins. He's probably going to go for the Mosely vs Vargas winner, which will again be Shane. So you can probably look for Mayweather vs Mosely at 154 in November.
Nopes! Excuse me, PBF has nothing to gain in fighting anybody because he is already the p4p no 1 fighter. Is there any higher stature than that? :)
So if he's not gonna fight a fellow title holder in the same weight class he might as well retire before he gets exposed completely. :p
Jesus! He doesn't deserve his title as a p4p no 1 fighter.
just cause hes p4p #1 on wat hes already achieved in hes carear doesnt mean he gets to keep it on merit , how he stays there is how the rest of hes carear paths out
He has to fight the best at his weight, Margarito has a title he is a good fighter, we want it, give it to us fuck all that risk bullshit.Let Cotto fight the Gatti winner and Floyd vs Rito both winners fight each other its that simple.FLOYD STEP UP THE PUBLIC WANTS THIS FIGHT!PUSSY
I think Floyd is looking at the risk / reward. Like the original poster said, if Floyd lost to Tony, it would discredit everything that he's accomplished so far. However is Floyd won against Tony, even if he won bad, the Tony win all of a sudden becomes a bad win against "a big, slow, telegraphic punching, overrated bum." Who had no big wins on his rusume anyway... Honestly Floyd has absolutely nothing to gain by taking this fight, and a lot to lose.

I can aggree with this. But lets remember floyd is in the hurt business, he is a fighter and one of the best, he should act like it by fighting the best in his division.
Me too, Yeah ofcourse he has everything too loose I get what your saying Physcopath but he's not looking for retirement he's looking for his next opponent and that what where discussing..... No disrespect

I see Floyd Mayweather and i see a fighter? What do you see?
If you are the p4p fighter you must face the best fighters at your weight regardless of your fear. If you fear the fighters in your division then move down or up in weight.
