If the guy weighs the same as you, yet he looks 20 lbs thinner, than thats usually because of one thing:
he has a lot more muscle mass than you do... which probably means he can hit a lot harder as well.
exactly. ask any of them to make a muscle for you, and ull be amazed!!! lol
I've never actually "blacked out" from a punch before. But I've been dazed and sort of 'light headed' after one, not to mention a huge headache :(
i gone threw all that stuff. when i had my only pro fight, i took the punchs like nothing, got mad why they stopped the fight. in the dressing room i felt like i wasn't even in a fight. next morning, i wake up with a mean old headache, that stayed with me for a few days, fucken felt horrable, but the experinace was well worth it, but damn, fuken headache was horrable.
you can't use that as a gauge how good your chin is.
one time in school while playing basketball some dumbass, threw the basketball right at my face at full speed pass, it didn't even fase me. Another time one of my older brothers hit me with his fist, a right hand, again it didn't fase me. once i go to boxing, first time i sparred all the way up to two weeks continully sparring every sparring i would black out for half a second from being stunned from my sparring partners punch. later on i got better and got use to getting hit and later on i stunned him very badly -actually hit him on the chin-, he struck a pose for a good 2 seconds i hit him with a counter right hand that had him looking like a manaken. another time years later, again i thought i had a good chin, then i sparred with a known puncher who won amature tounaments and he stunned me with an overhand right that buckeld my knews and my legs felt like they had just fallen asleep and i had that sinsation in my legs and seen stars as he tried to attack even more. later on we exchanged hurting each other. we keep sparring later on and our trainer wouldn't allow us to sparr each other cause we were too dangerous for each other, since every other sparring we had was a war and it seemed we took turns hurting each other the time we did sparr, but i learned a lot from those sparrings.
only way you will know how good a chin you have is by joining a gym, but most importantly getting the experiance first, you can't go into a gym green as hell, and want to test your chin, hells no, ive seen that happened and it aint pretty. so to test your chin, join a gym, sparr, get experiance, then with in time you will know.

fuck no, means you going to kick his ass, forget that mentallity, just respect your opponet but at the same time belive you are going to kick his ass and he has to worry about why your going to do and how hard you hit, not what he is going to do and how hard he hits.
What about finding out how strong your chin is. I once got kicked with full force on one side of my face while I was down while playing soccer and it hardly fazed me. I think I may have one of those toughman chins.

When I was a kid I thought my punches were weak, until I had my first fight.:D
they say hit like a mack truck but then you go and run away from margarito :boxing: margarito still talks about the day he will meet up with you and the two of you will fight, he says he can knock you out, i stick up for you and tell him you'll at least get 2 punchs in before he knocks you out. :boxing:
Yup, noticing when ur opponent is hurt can be very hard, especially with the masks AND if ur opponent is good at playing it off with his body language.
I almost never picked up on it either... it sounds like it would be so easy...
in my first 2 amature fights i could tell when they were dazed bu then after my 3 fight which as a lose, i concentrated more on going to 3 rounds since being tired costed me my 3 fight. one youa are sparring in enough time you ussally pick up on it, sooner or later. another thing is you can't think too much of what the other guy can hit you with when you see his dazed. this is what made delahoya the big name he became, early on, he noticed his opponet was hurt he'd finish him off right their and then.
in some of my amature fights i got some good shots in thinking they may cause damage they did nothing -besides stop them in their tracks- and i was expecting a knockdown or somthing, but when i reviewed the fight, i didn't follow up worth shit. you can daze or wobble fighters but its the follow up that counts.

I was sparring this really frikin skinny korean guy at my gym. We both weigh 140lbs , this guy was about 5'7 or so...built like Erik Morales. Thin but compact...Holy shit this guy could punch. He had near perfect form and used his shoulders and hips everytime he punched. For a small guy he had really heavy hands. And he wasnt even that fast.
tall skinny lanky type fighters are always the ones u should be most afraid of. lol. especially if they weight the same as u, but look like they weight 20 pounds less!!
Those fighters can freakin punch. outta my like 4 million fights, i always had trouble from the power of these tall skinny guys.
Diego corrales is the best example of can think of. Talls, very skinny, but boy does that kid pack a whollop
Thats happend to me before. I got into a figth with this guy. I thought my left was really, really weak. Well I kept throwing it to this guys body not thinking it was doing anything. After he quit, not from the body blows so much, but I was able to grab ahold of his head and smack it into a metal pole a couple times. Anyways after we all cooled off. He said I "hit real hard" I was kinda surprised. Im still not convinced though. It doesn't feel like I throw it with much pop.
Thought your punch was really weak then used it and realised it wasnt?

Its good to act cocky to get urself pumped up, but on inside you should always know where u stand. If u think ur really strong, ur gonna rely on ur power in the ring, even if u train fro speed. Itll end up being ur downfall.
Sure, those fighters FED of their cockyness, but they knew where they stood on the inside. They knew who they could match up with and who they couldnt. They talked shit to get adrenaline pumping so that they COULD be beat people they thought they couldnt
i disaggree you start having doubt in yourself before teh fight is on, and when you are in the ring that little voice will come back to haunt you in a difficult fight.
about speed and power thing you were describing.....that is what a good trainer is all about, teaching you the ins and outs of being in danger, getting out of danger, gone from one plan to the next plan.
i dissaggree, this is what made fighters like tyson and vargas, take that cockyness away from them and will not be the fighter they are.
a good trainer will allow his fighter to have the biggest ego in the world, cause every fight he is always going to want to prove that he is the best. and if you as a trainer allow this, and match him right when he first starts, later on not even mike tyson would be able to move him.

but if ur cocky and shit, then ull always feel stronger then u are. its never good to be a fighter and be like that. you need a good trainer to set u straight

yea, i remember just shadow boxing before a fight and thinking that my punches wouldnt even hurt my opponent. The fight started, and i made the guy quit. he even complemented me after the match.
You will DEFINETLY feel weaker then u actually are if ur honest with urself. no doubt about it.
