Good sign that Wright thinks he lost or that he will lose in a rematch. I've never heard of a guy getting a draw that was the challenger and NOT asking for a rematch right away. Is Wright a pussy or what?
Did you see Winkys busted up face in the interview after the fight? More than a few punches landed clean on his face, probably more than in any fight he's ever been in.
Taylors left eye was swelling only a little, then made much much worse by a headbutt, otherwise he was barely marked.
When Winky finds out he can only make $500K fighting bums, or $4M fighting a rematch, guess what? We'll see a rematch - this time in Las Vegas.
If Taylor smarts up and avoids the rope-a-dope rubbish, he'll win an easy UD. He needs to LISTEN to his corner.
yeah he got hit and hard. but not by as many punches as taylor hit him with. i think sam hit him just as much but he had no power
I knew it was gonna be a very hard fight for Winky though. Matter of fact, Im very suprised he didnt lose by a UD. Taylor is much bigger, faster, powerful, and he can sustain pressure. If there is a rematch, Winky can win. He started figuring Taylor out towards the end. Jermain would just wait until Winky threw his jab to counter. Once Winky figured that out, he timed his shots better. I tak enothing away from Jermain though. Afterall, these are the best fighters int he division.
Good post. Winky has his way late in the fight. he was confident, moved forward, and Taylor's 'blasting through the guard'(re: not actually landing puches) was a last resort because he was techincally overmatched. I give credit to Taylor for fighting through it, but he was outclassed in my very humble opinion. I don't really see a need for a rematch, as Winky could well have other more interesting fights in mind. And it's not like he has something to prove. He probably feels like he's already shown he can outbox the top middleweight.
Everyone is taking what Wright said in the wrong way.
He basically said that if Taylor is going to be given decisions(gift decisions according to him) then he doesn't want a rematch.
Everyone heard him say no and immediately ran to the messageboards and said Wright doesn't a rematch without even hearing the entire interview.
That was said in the heat of the moment. Wright will take the rematch once his head cools down.
landed tham on the gloves and shoulders

I hope he doesn't rematch him. I like Taylor, but let this fight be a big question mark that follows him the rest of his career. Every fighter has controversy. This is his! He was suppossed to be dominant as to maybe KO little Winky Wright. Wright should move on to other fighters.
What other fighters is he going to move on to? Hard feelings aside whether he feels he was robbed or not, Taylor is THE MAN at middleweight, there is no bigger fight for Winky. If he feels he's the man at 160 then come back and prove it, make it so bad that the judges won't even be a factor, and make some big $$$ while doing it.
it was a good close fight i had taylor by a rd. but the decision was fair. it's the way wright and his management acted after the fight that was bullshit.
I had Winky winning by one round but the decision was fair. This was a surprising exciting fight to me. I think Taylor rocked him a couple of times and he knows that he will loose but, maybe hell reconsider.
If i'm not mistaken isn't Tenn right next to Arkansas on the map? Was this not a HUGE Taylor crowd?
Hometown if you ask me. It wasn't directly in Taylor's home city, but close enough. It's like Lacy fighting Calz in England, when Wales is not THAT far away.
Regardless if it was home town or not Winky should be used to that already since he's fought the majority of his career in other fighters back yards over seas. Winky should've done more if he wanted to win that bad. The same thing could be said for Taylor but, Wright should not be acting as if he was robbed. It was a close fight and that's all it was.
I won't say anything about this until I hear about what "other fights" he has in mind. No matter what, if Winky stays at middleweight, these two will cross paths again.
The draw was fair in my eyes.I couldn't comfortably give the win to either man.Too many close rounds. It's a scoring dilemma!Winky outlanded him and was more accurate, but Taylor landed the harder shots and outworked him in some rounds.Close and exciting fight.

naw, he felt like he won the fight...hell, it was hard to get the first fight booked...winky is just a difficult dude...he will take the rematch but nowhere near taylor's place....but i must saw it was a great fight....best one this year..
punch stats dont tell whole story... fights are score on rounds won and punch stats just show the accumulation over the entire fight... a fighter may land 50 more punches, but if he did that over 4-5 rounds but still lost the other 7-8 rounds, he still loses the fight...
Wright may not have won...

but after the fight when they did the total punch numbers Winky threw less but landed more both in Power Punches and Total Punches. Shouldnt that give him the win...I think Wrights biggest problem is that he was unable to "take it away" from Taylor. He did do anything to show any domination. IMO it was a bland fight and if they did ever fight again I dont think it would get on Friday Night Fights...it was disappointing and I am glad I didnt have to spend 50 bucks on it.

Winky won the fight and was obviously disgusted with the decision. What he said was out of haste I am quite sure they will fight again..........Taylor is sure lucky the judges love him or he would have 2 losses on his resume and never would have had a second fight with Hopkins.
i've never really like winky that much and the way he's behaving after this fight is not giving me any reason to like him either... who the hell else is winky gonna fight and get paid as much as a taylor rematch??
yeah winky lost some of my respect. he had just taken a part in a big fight . he showed he was a man by at some times trading with taylor and always coming forward. then after a hard 12 round draw he acts like a little bitch. that shit wasnt right. Taylor gained some respect from me he handled it like a man
Winky knows he lost, that's why he doesn't want the rematch. The fool was raising his hands after each round, acting like he was winning every round. He left the ring after the fight, the man showed no class last night.
up to the fith round even stewart new taylor was down. 3 rounds to 2 in two score cards for winky. after that winky won 3 at least 3 more rounds. so a draw is fair, no clear loser
I think "Winky" was clearly frustrated at the announcement of a draw. Frustrated because he thought he had won. It doesn't make sense that he'd be frustrated because he thought he lost does it? If he thought he'd lost he'd be more than happy to accept a draw, as it's neither a win, nor a loss. It's kinda like saying "hey, you did good but nobody wins".
I think he feels that all his years of hard work and struggling to get big fights was for nothing as he feels the judges fucked him. I agree with the draw personally. I think after all the dust settles Wright will opt for a rematch, count on it.
