Although I am going for Winky, i understand that taylor could be the person to beat Wright. If this happens, and after knocking Bhop from the # 1 spot, and then knocking off the #2 guy, Would that put taylor #1 on the P4P list? or does he still have to wait for PBF to lose?
Yea, I agree with you, but I wont be surprised if Taylor wins by TKO. 2 classy dudes are fighting, it's sad to see one losing.
true, i hope it's a really close fight, and ending in a split decision victory, so that neither fighter losses any position.
zab should not have been on anyones p4p list when he fought floyd, he had just lost
in my post i said he was on the list just last year, befor ehe lost
May the best men win. What's your pick Dogg?? I have some money on Taylor.
I'd say your money is safe. I'm picking Taylor by clear decision...and won't be surprised if he hurts and drops Wright, actually. Manny, no doubt, is going to fine tune Taylor's skills and help him to hone the delivery of that right hand of his away from the "bow and arrow" approach, which would never land on Winky. Wright, being a southpaw, is susceptable to a straight right hand lead and I imagine Manny's been working overtime with Taylor on that very concept.
Taylor by UD.
Ok I see what your saying. I may have ranted a bit, but ill direct what I said to the people that think he should be no 1 ;)
lol...i feel you playa..lol
Taylor has already been proven himself. I disagree with what you said, beating the #1 P4P guy twice proves that you are good.
Most people though Taylor won, check the ESPN poll which is the biggest poll on the net, Taylor won the poll by a pretty big margin.
LOL!!! Okay, I'll be more specific...he didn't impress ME....and if Wright beats him in any other manor than the two I described, he does not deserve to be automatically # 1.
For the record...I had Taylor winning the first fight; but was unimpressed with the way he faded down the stretch....and I scored the second fight a draw.
No I will not favor Tito. But lets not forget that I don't think Taylor deserves to be #1 if he wins, he should be #2.
I have Taylor #3 as of this moment, Wright #4, Pac #2. The winner of Taylor/Wright should be #2.
Until PBF loses, he should stay #1.
I can agree with 80% of that. I will say PBF doesn't necessarily have to lose, though. It all depends on how close it is between #1 and #2 and how each look in their most recent fights.
that why the thread says IF taylor wins....

Flip the question round...
If people have Winky at #2 now, like they say they do, then what happens if he beats Taylor who beat Hopkins twice? Does that make him #1 P4P... in my opinion it does...
If it makes Taylor #1-2 it makes Winky a stronger #1-2 I think.
I would say no....simply because the result of that verdict would be that Taylor had been overrated based on two controversial victories. Winky's proven he's a solid #2 or #3...Taylor is still essentially unproven. Yes, his wins over Hopkins proved he could hang enough to convince 6 people that he deserved two wins; but he didn't convince everybody...or most everybody watching.
A win would put Winky on par with Floyd....but not necessarily unseat him, IMO......unless he knocks Taylor out or schools him like he did Trinidad, neither of which I see happening.

Taylor did knock Joppy down, after the knockdown Joppy started running to survive the rest of the rounds.
Also Tito was one of the hardest P4P punchers of all time.
:D Exactly; but would you favour Tito over Taylor if Trinidad came out of retirement? Probably not.
To me Taylor's on the cusp; but hasn't quite made it to the top of the heap, yet. He's got the talent, the skills, and I believe the heart. Winky is an incredible test; and if he beats Winky impressively, it's going to mean more than his wins over both Marquez and Joppy...and will help put the Hopkins victories in better perspective.
To me, deciding the P4P best is an incredibly complex procedure...which is why I say the showing has everything to do with it as much as the competition.
3 for me! only cos you beat the man you dont emmediately become the man!
A string of fighters proved that to me for example Mosley beat Oscar, then he got propelled to that status. Mosley got beat by forrest. He got propelled also. Then came Mayorga and Spinks. At this point everyone seemed to have learned their lesson  . Aparently not :p .
Only cos he beat Hopkins (contraversially) does'nt put him up were you think he is in my eyes

Tito just stayed in joppy's ass the entire fight...Taylor didnt...thats the difference...and Tito is one of the hardest punchers of all-time...you know
Being stopped is a different then being knocked down.
Well...I could play devil's advocate and say that Trinidad, a naturally smaller man and a less technical fighter than Taylor knocked down...obliterated....Joppy; but Taylor couldn't.
Does that mean anything?
Raul Marquez is a better fighter then Joppy. Taylor was the first man to put Marquez down.
At that stage in his career, maybe; but Raul was still stopped by Yori Boy Campas and Vargas....jr. middleweights. Still, the question is moot. Joppy, at least, was a natural middleweight.
