No dive, I just think the weight issue had a big factor, plus he probably thought he would be able to bully B-hop around the ring. When he realized he wasn't gonna have it his way, he just looked so dicouraged, like he gave up on winning.
That was highly stupid of Tarver to get all caught up in the upcoming Rocky movie and he gained all the way up to 218, no wonder all he did was conditioning. Besides just getting caught up in the movies messed him up anyway, not the first time i've seen it. When De La Hoya had that album out and then he went to fight Sugar Shane Mosley, Mosley beat him.
Im thinkin, was it the weight gain/loss??? Similar to what happened to Roy? You know that issue is gonna come up..
I think it was, partially. He talked so much shit about Roy's excuses, that now he's left himself only being able to say one of two things:
1) Hopkins is a much better fighter
2) I just didn't have "it" tonight.
Taking off muscle is hard, and it hurts. Not sure how much muscle he had to take off, but it was significant anyway. Tarver also had to spend his entire camp working on his weight, rather than preparing to fight one of the best technical fighters in the sport, shoe-in hall of famer and all-time great. The weight situation did not help him, most definitely. Hopkins is just a far smarter fighter, and better fighter, for Tarver to have been working so hard on his weight and to have been weakening himself in the process.
no, wat erlse could he do but walk around like a corpse? he didnt land 1 meaningful shot all night and was completely emabarresed/exposed.
"legend killer" :p ;)
The answer is simple. Hopkins is a great boxer vs Tarver a good boxer. Tarver has an inflated value of himself. This is because he defeated a very shot fighter Roy Jones, who in his prime would have beat Tarver and Hopkins in the same night.
