with chris byrd planning on a return to the ring some feel that his smaller size may be better served in the cruiser division
if so, a fight wiht jean marc mormeck could prove interesting
Who Wins, Byrd or Mormeck and How?
would byrd outbox mormeck, take him to the later rounds and make him tired, lethargic, and dizzy
or does mormeck bully him around with his bodybuilding physique, land some big shots and take out byrd
mormeck is strong but not tall , byrd will be able to reach him but i still think mormeck comes out swinging and overwhlemes byrd early
any thoughts?
what happened to the old bryd the defensive master, he cant slug when he would only be 190 in top shape
now this poll makes more sense - especially if mormeck gets on a roll again towards title and byrd wins
when i saw mormeck own up wayne braithwight or whatever his name was, i thought mormek was a unstopable cruiserweight monster who wouldnt be beaten, but his performence against o neil bell very disappointing so im not to much of a supporter anymore, he looked like a completly different fighter from then before if he wins and doesnt suck so much wind and looks good hopfully he will KO Bell in a rematch and make me a fan again
I don't know if Mormeck could handle Byrd's speed. That would more than likely end up being a boring technical matchup, where Byrd just circles around Mormeck. That whole mirage of Mormeck actually boxing and dancing about the ring against Braithwaite was pretty much a sideshow.
This fight would not be fan friendly either, and if Byrd put together enough punches he might be able to win by his widest UD he's ever scored.
and if he does do that
it could set up a fight with bell or jones

never at a loss for words
i don't see it as such
but respect your opinion
i mean - byrd no longer moves like he once did
he's old and his legs have tired
he may stay in to long and get caught with a wide mormeck shot early
and the reason i picked mormeck because he's had a layoff and bell and other top cruiser's are tied up with other fights

i really dont see losing the weight being a problem i'd see him being faster and more in shape. He doesnt have a heavyweight physique and would look solid at cruiser
agree, i think he should fare well at cruiser
however, i think it is a pride killer
get ko'd at heavy and moive down in weight
i'd like it to happen and for this fight ot materialize
but i doubt it will

I wouldnt hate on him and in fact he probably should, these HW's are getting too big and powerful.
lol, tell that too a young byrd, when tyson, holyfield and lewis and bowe were still around
yeah, thats probably why he won't do it
but it just seems that he could do well with the cruiser's
do you think he should stay at heavy?
if he thinks he can win why not, but he will probably fair worse, especially since he has to lose lots more weight, and he may not have that much an advantage as many may think he has, but i dont' see no problem his tryng to go for a title at a smaller weight
No way Byrd took heavyweight punches and didnt go down but will be knocked out by a cruiser...
yeah, i think byrd is on his way out and has lost his drive and hunger. either he gets beat bad or stopped. if he does anything other than he should retire on a high note.
i like byrd, always have, but he aint the same. i know his personal chef out here in vegas and he says that byrd is fine, but he wasn't talking confident. of course he's going to say positive things, but it wasn't all that positive sounding, the tone was saying something different. like i said i like byrd, i just think he doesn't have the same desire as before and it will get him KO'd again. even by mormeck after losing to bell. mormeck would be well hungry and well prepared.
i think he should try and get a win and call it a career.
let the hatting begin for byrd chosing to go down in weight and try to dominate a smaller division
yeah, thats probably why he won't do it

i say mormeck by tko, if he doesn't gas out like his last fight. which he usually doesn't. bell hits harder than byrd......

I haven't seen much of Mormeck but I truly think that if Byrd stuck to strictly boxing he could outbox almost anybody in the cruiserweight division.
if he sticks and moves he could tire mormeck out
mormeck breathes like my ex-wife having a baby when he gets tired
