Yeah, he beat Bernard Hopkins twice last year (I thought Hopkins won once). Also, on some lists, Winky is right at number 2 or three. After dethroning Hopkins as the pound for pound and maybe Winky, the very green Taylor could be the sport's best?
I think this illustrates the problems with the pound for pound list. Taylor has tons of flaws and I don't think he's peaked yet.
man the way i see it Taylor has the size to put on say 30-40 more pounds if not more and if RJJ and Toney can do it i would never count him out, shit if chris byrd can be champ then anything is possible
man if he beats winky and fighst the fights his suppose to, move up in weight and do the tihings his been doing fighting wise, he wont only be a top 5 middleweight but he'll be a top 10 all time great! His got the potential, credintials and ability to move up to HW as RJJ and Toney have done, his that good!
all is good except for that HW line...He wont stand a chance up there..in the heavyweight of this era...he will lose due to pure size diferences...
If Taylor beats Winky, i honestly beleive that we may be seeing a possible middleweight top 3 or 4.
To go hopkins, hopkins, wright, is no easy life. I give him a lot of respect for doing that. He's definitely not ducking anybody.
And this is coing from a HUGE Bhop fan, and i thought Bhop won the first fight. But regardless, Taylor's got balls.
If he beats wright, i predict that by the end of his career he will be remembered as a top 5 middleweight.

taylor should be number 1, to stay at 1 spot you have to keep beating live opponets mayweather hasn't fought on in many years. those two wins over hopkns in my opinion is enough to put him on top 1,
if p4p was only based on skills then floyd remains at 1, but its not and to have winky ahead of taylor in p4p list is laughable
I see so many holes in Taylor though. Winky won't be able to expose them with his power/lack of power punches and Hopkins isn't an offensive minded fighter either.
Taylor needs to fight a good solid puncher and I have a feeling he would be exposed. It just so happened that the two best people in his weight division aren't big punchers (Winky and B Hops) and Taylor was/will be able to overwhelm these two because he's more offensive minded (makes him look like he's doing more--part of the reason I think he was able to get two decisions over Hopkins).
Good to have you back too Neils. :D
I think Winky might beat Taylor. I'll be at that fight and I like both guys - I just hope it's a good show.
You know how when the AP releases the college Top 25 in football and basketball, a couple of the teams ranked in the preseason don't even make a bowl or make the NCAA Tournament? That's part of the rankings, and it either makes them fun or it makes them annoying, which is maybe the point of the poll you posted.
But if Taylor beats Wright, he deserves consideration at/near the top of the p4p list. And the first guy to beat Taylor deserves to be vaulted into consideration as well, then, as long as it's a legit opponent who picks up a win via something other than a bizarre TKO/DQ, etc.
If he does beat winky, then ill have to give it to him he deserves to be up there in the p4p list, howevere i still dont see hopkins as an honerable win, he didnt beat him convincingly and it was only a matter of time that Hopkins was going to be defeated by a younger fighter
nicely said, I agree with you 100%

Pound-4-Pound lists aren't set in stone, though. If boxers need to stay at the top to satisfy their egos, then we won't maybe see Mayweather fighting another Bruseles or Pacquiao fighting a Hector Velazquez. If Taylor beats Wright, he's beaten the best two other fighters at his weight, so call him green, but you'll have to call him champ.

Not exactly true, what other boxers (MW) out there do/did you see beating B_hop even at 40, the fact is Taylor beat him (close descions or not) twice and took his belts and isnt looking back, so why do you all, Taylor is the best MW out there right now and by beating Winky on the 17th will prove his claim as maybe not #1 but atleast top 2-4 p4p period!
And after his defeat of winky word is Taylor will either look for young blood and GREAT fights against the likes of Abraham, Duddy or Miranda or even take the fight i wanna see badly against SMW king Joe Cal! So for all you still stuck on silly, understand this JT will be around for a very long time and that 0 after 25 will be that for a VERY long time, ive seen it and maybe a few others but AGAIN the fact is JT is in my opinion gonna be a force, if not the GOAT of the MW division for years to come! And i havent even broke down the possiblities of him moving up in weight which is something i think he could also do very sucsessfully!

No, no, no. Taylor, should he beat Winky the way I think he will or even if he beats him impressively, HE WILL NOT BE THE P4P KING.
Just because you beat Tiger Woods....it doesn't make you Tiger Woods. Taylor's got a Loooooooonnnnnnggg way to go.
Gatti? Good?
Old Man Mitchell? Good?
Judah... one word "Baldomir".
He's not fighting the best and it's really sad, because there are people he should fight but isn't.
Those are 3 really good fighters. neither are easy to bet. I do think he should fight Margrito but now he is trying to make a payday. I think Floyd stays on top because of how e wins, his fights arn't even close.
Floyd will lose it by not fighting the best. Once you make the top of the list, that shouldn't mean you stay there by default. He's fought Gatti, Mitchell and Judah recently. Does that say it all?

Taylor had never lost a round until he fought Bernard Hopkins... I would say that shows he doesn't have that many flaws.

Hes not gonna be king any time soon. Unless he goes on a roll of defeating great fighters.

i still don't think that beating Winky would put him @ P4P. PBF will need to lose to have that title taken

are you taking small bet...something like $2 mill...if so I beat $2 mill that taylor beats winky.....
