He probably was the best SMW in the world at that point, Calzaghe was looking a shadow of his former self with all his personal problems.
He is the best super-middleweight in the world, by a distance. Just thought I'd inform you people of this cat.
Ahh see I was under the impression that you still believed he was the best by a distance...which would just be false.
I guess the use of the word, "is" in that statement threw me off. I'm just giving you a bit of a hard time no harm no foul.
He's been in jail 2 fuckin' years man. Give the guy a break Gringo.
who brahmer or juy? i was just having a laugh about juy calling him the best super middle in the world by a distance is all.
Idiot.
Brahmer was considered to be the best talent to EVER come out of Germany, but got thrown in jail for two and a half years and hasn't looked half the fighter since.
Losing to Veit is no shame! Going into the first Calzaghe fight, Veit was just as hyped up in Germany as Lacy was in America.
Brahmer is considered the best talent to EVER come out of Germany.
This cat beat Ricky Hatton twice in 1996 at welterweight, the first time he fought 63-1 Hatton he beat him in one round. Brahmer then beat Felix Sturm in 1997, Carl Froch in 1998 and Jermain Taylor in 1999. Marcus Beyer hired him as a sparring partner, but Brahmer knocked him out straight away and Beyer cancelled.
Brahmer has recently come back, after spending two-and-a-half years in prison.

Veit is average...the best super-middle in the world doesn't lose to an average fighter.
Don't call me an idiot for calling you out on this...you bitch made prick.
Idiot.

If my memory doesn't fool me he got in jail because he initiated a car accident. When the driver of the other car threatend to call the police Brähmer knocked him out and drove away. He got sth. like 30 months for that. And he has been in conflict with the law before that. That tells you about his mental problems.
Brahmer defeated Witter, Hatton, Sturm and Froch in his amateur career. He was sheer class, trust me.
Brähmer was actually hyped as a "Jahrhundertalent" which means sth. like "talent like him gets only born once in 100 years".
And the description might actually fight ...but as I've stated above I don't think he is mentally stable enough to capitalize on his talent. Which is a shame.
I watched the fight live and it was actually very sad. Brähmer absolutely dominated the first three rounds, knocked Veit down with a vicious left in the first round and then just kinda choked. He didn't let his hands go afterwards, besides the sporadical right-left. And even though he had the faster hands, Veit would start to beat him to the punch.
Brähmer was obviously the much more talented fighter he just didn't capitalize on it. I haven't seen him throwing one shot to the body for the last 9 rounds. It didn't even look like he was exhausted (like he was in the last two rounds against Thysse), he just couldn't execute anymore.
Veit has no real future. He is a solid fighter but nothing special. Likes to capitalize on his usual height and reach advantage and has a very limited offensive arsenal. Doesn't move good enough to be a WC fighter. And he lacks the kind of punching power that could've made him special.
This is the worst possible outcome of the fight. Brähmer will have to rebuilt his career while Veit will never be a championship fighter. There were lots of rumors about a possible Brähmer-Beyer fight. That is not going to happen now.
Brähmer is a very talented fighter. He can hit you with every shot in the book, has decent power and has an above average defense that allows him to counter-punch often. He is quick and moves very good. But maybe he lacks mentally what he has got in talent. Hopefully he'll come back and show that he had nothing more than a terrible off-night after the first three rounds.
Brahmer (according to Boxrec) lost a majority decision. Losing to Veit basically means he isn't really a threat to the divisional big names. Brahmer has generally been fighting bums throughout his pro career, and has now been found wanting.
Its a pity really, Brahmer looked like a very talented fighter.
lmao this is the same guy (brahmer) that juyjuy was saying is better than any middle or super middle around today.
mario veit KO1 juyjuy.

When we think of Veit the two defeats against Joe Calzaghe are what immediately come to mind, but these are his only losses in 49 bouts, with 23 opponents halted in his 47 wins.
Veit presents problems for Brahmer. There is his experience, of course, but also his height and reach — at almost 6ft 4ins he towers over the younger man.
Against Calzaghe, Veit was outclassed, pure and simple. Veit was simply overwhelmed by a storming first-round attack in the first fight, and although he lasted into the sixth round in the rematch the Welsh fighter was just too strong for him. Veit has won two routine eight-rounders on points since the second fight with Calzaghe and now he finds himself involved in the type of contest that is likely to decide whether he stays in boxing or makes his exit.
Brahmer is known to have an excellent variety of punches that he throws with speed and accuracy from his southpaw stance and he is said to be defensively adept. Veit is a good, technical boxer with an upright style but despite a ripped physique he has seemed to lack robustness. His best win was an upset ninth-round stoppage over a faded Charles Brewer — I saw that fight on tape and the former champion was severely hammered. Veit also won a 12-round decision over the rough and rugged Kabary Salem. There is no question that he has fought in a higher class than has Brahmer.
Veit will be strongly motivated — there is a lot of pride involved here in a meeting of Universum-promoted fighters — and I think he is capable of giving Brahmer problems with his jabs and right hands on the outside.
I understand that Brahmer was looking very tired by the last round of the fight with Thysse.
In his amateur career, Brahmer scored two wins over Ricky Hatton the WBA Welterweight Champion in 1996 and defeated Felix Sturm the WBA Middleweight Champion in 1997.

Looking for the taller Veit to prevail.
