I'm in Canada so I don't know if this fight was on the FSN show, but I read on-line that Andre Dirrell got dropped by his no-name opponent and was only saved because it was at the end of a round. Supposedly he needed a lot of time to get over it.
He came back to win on points pretty easily, but the KD still looks bad.
Both Dirrell brothers are arrogant as hell and clowns in the ring. Hopefully they'll learn to be more humble now.
the dirrells are fine this dude just wants to be one of those crotch rockets that sit back and say a fighter is done because they got droped
if he came at us how he really wanted to we'd just shoot him down and he'd look stupid
If you're referring to me, you couldn't be more wrong. I made the thread because it was an interesting bit of boxing news...I thought that was the point of having a boxing message board. I didn't say a damn thing about him being finished as a fighter.

I always considered Andre Berto the better Andre over Dirrell and Ward.
i've seen berto on showtime and hes looked great. but somthing happens to fighters when they fight on espn and they don't look as impressive. maybe they are worried of atlas comments i don't know but espn is the home of upsets, i've seen it happen a few times.
There are differences in arrogance. Mayweather arrogance is partly for show. Yes, he truly does respect boxers in the ring (well maybe not Sharmba Mitchell, because Floyd was a head hunter not afraid of anything Mitchell could offer him).
But THEN there are the Dirrell brothers. Extremely cocky and arrogant and having little reason to be that way. They're prospects, much like Malignaggi except the Dirrell brothers are worse. Atlas ripped them a new one for their showboating on ESPN FNF. And this time it wasn't the bitter old man bitching, Teddy "Oscar DEEE La Hoya" Atlas hit the nail on the head--these two are @ssholes.
Rocky's career spanned 8 or 9 years. If Mayweather retired today, he too, would retire undefeated.
but rocky beat the top contenders who were around, floyd still has fighters out their for him
well let me find you then
rocky, although I believe a tad overrated, is the best heavyweight ever on paper
Although confident, he was NEVER arrogant
You'll never make it as anything, let alone a boxer, if you don't have confidence in yourself. Doesn't mean ya gotta be a prick about your skills
you got the best avatar i've seen in the whole website

true but i still belive their ain't nothing wrong with a fighter having too much confidence.
i haven't seen their fights where they do this, but you're right once you are in the ring its time to walk the talk.
few fighters can get away with antics i the ring.
Early on especially they were bad.
I'm not trying to be too hard on them. They're both have good skills, especially Andre. And like you said there's nothing necessarily wrong with arrogance. Hopefully all of this is just part of the learning process.
An arrogant fighter will only go far if he shows respect both to his opponents and the game. Ali clowned around but was all business in the ring. Even Mayweather at his worst knew when it was time to put away the foolishness and focus.
I've seen these Dirrell brothers dance, spin around, and backflip in the ring, and it's all bullshit, plain and simple. What have they done to be able to act that way? At least Hopkins earned his backflips, these guys struggle against also-rans.

he recovered quickly, and why humble a fighter that is loud? no way, you do that and he is not the fighter that he can be. fighters are loud, cocky, arogant, egocintrick are usally the ones who go further, not always but but its what helps them to glory.

Yeah, cause marciano wouldn't have turned out to be the only heavy champ in history to retire undefeated if he hadn't worn all the feather boas and elephant skin briefs
you lost me their, rocky though very humble was very confident in his boxing skills, when dropped he got up and tried to mureder his opponet so after.... his pride wouldn't accept defeat, and his ego wouldn't allow it.
