"Fans were treated to a webcast of Shannon's fight plus the undercard on www.JumpTv.com. Those who bought the card in advance received the card and undercard for a mere $2.99! Now that's a deal worth noting and a way to really stick it to the Big Pay-Per-View prices fans are getting ripped from the The TV Networks. This could just be the start of the death of high priced Pay-Per-Views. The internet is changing all the rules of the game and it is certainly nice to see the the Cable companies who charge us for Pay-Per-views like they were Oil Companies (no shame)... are no longer the only way to power our fix for the sport."
This is part of a press release for this fight. Just wanted to know if you guys agree with this statement. I understand that Shannon Briggs is not an attraction at this point, but want to get some feedback from the fans on this forum. Thanks for your time.
they shoulda paid people at least minimum wage per hour to watch that ppv
i hear briggs came in over-weight and his opponet was hand picked, not worth ppv dollars. at least show respect to the true boxing fans who know when a fight should be on espn
or off tv period :D
I don't care I watch them all anyway....... :boxing: I love boxing and its the price you pay I guess.Besides my descrambler is still working so I have not actually paid for a PPV in years. :D
I wouldn't think that the PPVs I order on TV would be worth it were I not able to record them and watch them later if I want to easily. I don't want to watch fights on a computer if I have the option of seeing them on the television...
I think we can all agree that this fight was overpriced, even at $2.99. Add in the fact that with Internet PPV you're lucky to get a 640x480 screen (most are 320x240) which is very unwatchable on today's high resolution monitor. When you go full screen you wind up with a blocky, fuzzy image which can skip and rebuffer with more consistency than most boxers throw punches.
I don't think the overpriced (we agree on that) cable PPV has much to worry about in the near term. My solution is to only buy PPVs that are worth the price, which means I rarely ever buy PPV on HBO.
i think its upsetting. a lot of people are now buying fights online, further destroying this great sport. Im one of the few boxing fans that thinks boxing is far from a dying sport.
