As of recent fighters. I exclude dudes like Jones Jr., Hopkins, Toney and other big name fighters That we've seen fight for years.(Not Counting Floyd because he's a lock for 1 for me.)
Winky Wright - Dudes been ducked his entire career, proved himself against Mosley and Tito. Took impressive wins over both. I truly see him beating Taylor and becoming the Middleweight Champ. His defense is incredible and he just has such a great arensal of punches and angles for a southpaw. Truly a great fighter.
I think Kassim Ouma is an exciting fighter. His fights with Verno Phillips, Kofi Jantuah, and J.C. Candelo were pretty entertaining affairs.
His last fight on the DLH / Mayorga undercard put me to sleep. Good skills just not on my top ten for entertainment. IMO
This is pretty "bang on" but kassim Ouma ? Good fighter but a real strange looking southpaw. Always looks off balance and ugly to watch , gets the job done just a boring fighter IMO.

The most skilled boxers today:
Floyd

Guzman
Paulie
Ouma
Casamayor
Winky
Hopkins (was?)
James Toney
Cotto
(havent seen him fight, but I hear he foghts like Parnell Whitaker) Alex De Jesus
ect ect

Currently, though, Floyd is tops, with calderon and joe c behind him. im not sure if mosley and dlh are where they once were and i dont think morales is a pure boxing talent.
morales gots skills he just likes to brawl and give the crowd excitment in his bouts, his fight with ayala, zaragosa, and he showed some talent. check out some of his earlier fights -tough to get- the man has talent. you got to remember morales in prime form can lead with a right hand and he making sure it lands every time, shooting it 3 or 4 times in a row, same way with the uppercut, just ask kelly and ayala.
i've seen montial fight a few years ago when he was undefeated and he show lots of boxing skils, i last seen him fight on telefutra and his fight was too short to tell how he boxes now, caurse if its the same fighter then montial has moved up in weight, i remember him being lighter.
and of course marquez is still one of the most skillled boxer around, i'd still put at number two after mayweather.
winky is a good boxer, but the best i've seen of him was in his first fight with broncko mckart.
martin castillo is a good well rounded boxer too, i put him over winky too, cause he has more then a 1-2 and can move if he has too and slug if he has too.
winky is a bit over-rated in my opinion but we will see come june, oh, wait he looked like crap against the austrailian.
More skilled than Floyd imo:
Whitaker
SRL
SRR
Jones Jr
At Floyd's level imo:
DLH
Erik Morales
Ivan Calderon
Mosley

If we're talking about pure skill?
Has to be calderon. The man will box your fucking head off.
In terms of athleticism + skill, as in, all round fighter? Calzaghe.
And, parody, fair enough that you think Taylor will beat Wright, but surely that's not based on his skill? I mean, their decent, but there's this whole loading thing he does before he shoots that right hand. He strings his punch before he fires it ~_- and it looks bizarre to me.
But i agree that Taylor is underated by most writers - it's because Hopkins is so damn skillful that he makes world class fighters look like shit.
I'd say Joel is mostly to blame, seeing as how he was a kickboxer and not a boxer. Ergo, Zab has phenominal talent and unconventional training designed around his athletic ability.
that may be the problem...never looked at it that way...he needs something man because it would be a shame if his talent is totally wasted..the dude is young so he still has plenty of time to come into his own...
I totally agree with you. This guy has all the traits of a great boxer but for some reason he cant use them all at once..

Zab Judah he just doesn't know how to use his skills

Parody,I wasn't knocking him and I think PPL do him dirty because of the whole Hopkins thing and do underrate his skill's. I just didn't have him as the most skilled and wanted to here your perspective. Trust me I'm a Winky fan and I know he's got his hands full with the bigger and stronger Taylor. But I'm still going with Winky in this 1 he won't start slow IMO.
Perhaps you should've read the first 4 words of his post before sounding like an idiot...
I'd only be an idot if I'd read it and still didn't get it. As it is, I'm merely a sufferer of A.D.D. :D

I agree, Wright is and was great and will prove it! But he's really got his hands full with Taylor. He'll still win by UD though! :p
LOL!! Who says Mayweather's the most skilled?
Are you talking now or in the history of the sport? If you're talking now, then okay, I can buy that; but if you're talking history...'scuse me while I die laughing.
