Yes, until the ref tells them to stop, then you can hit the guy. You often hear the Referee telling fighters to "Punch their way out"

If someone connects with a punch while they are holding does that count? cause the compustat #'s for hatton's fight had him throwing and landing more, most most of those shots were occuring when he was clinching.. just curious Oh dear, i'm not going to even bother..
