I am... I put a billion on Collazo too. Lukahnli told me when the fight was first announced that Collazo is the real deal. Another poster told me that Hatton made a big mistake choosing Collazo.
Well, apparently everyone on the forum does because I've never seen so many people call an upset before in my life. I think this is either due to:
1) too many "America only" fans
2) an abundance of Mayweather fans
3) racism
and I think Hatton will win over Collazo, but every single one of you who picks Collazo will try to argue the fight was closer than it happens to be or suggest Collazo is robbed if it's on the cards
basically, Hatton will get little to no credit from all of you calling the upset as usual
wow, talk about being spot on. you guys (Bloodshed especially) are so fucking predictable you make me sick.
Thanks, I'm generating ideas for my next column :D
congratulation on being a boxing writer, i think i read that you got your article on a boxing website, thats cool. please don't hate my mexicans when viewing their fight, just kidding, its cool to see somone who has a passion for boxing get a great job covering boxing
On my life, if Hatton beats him and looks impressive, he will be even money with Mayweather in my mind. I have surmised that Hatton's plan is to win a title belt at 147 against a slick fighter in preparation for a showdown at 147 against Judah or Mayweather. This is what Hatton's camp had in mind, I just think they went in the wrong direction on this one.
I would have picked Hatton if not for Collazo's last appearance against Miguel Angel Gonzalez. True, this was not the Gonzalez of his past glory, but he came with alot spirit and tried to flood Collazo with punches. Collazo fought right back and got out of the way effectively when he was finished. His ability to switch from offense to defense well will give Hatton fits all night.
Hatton is used to fighting guys who he can hit. Kostya Tszyu, Ben Tackie, and Vince Phillips are stationary targets who don't have any foot movement. They stand there and allow Hatton to smother them on the inside and wear them down. Collazo will not let Hatton do that. This is a total style mismatch for Ricky Hatton.
i dont think youi were seeing the fight, mago would go to the body and collazo would stay stationary for a bit,,, now hatton is naturally bigger then mago and may punch harder too and this spells dome for collazo
And if he wins, will you give him credit?

Strong Pressure Fighters Are Very Hard To Beat In Their Prime.it Takes A Defensive Genius To Make Em Look Bad And Even Then Its Hard To Win Againts Them.
if he hits u low, u hit him low back."
yep as someone who has been raised in the tradition of if someone hits you hit them back like most of us I'd imagine, I can't find anything wrong with Ricky nailing him in the bollocks.
Hatton KO over Collazo in 7 rounds.
I agree 100%
And stop calling Hatton a dirty fighter. the only time he fought dirty was against Kostya tszyu. And u wanna know why? KOSTYA TSZYU IS A DIRTY FIGHTER!!! theres an expression in boxing that goes "if he hits u low, u hit him low back." Hatton was just doing what was necessary to win. SO stop the nonsense. u dont know what ur talking about.
Hatton will be the WBA champion at the end of the night.. but it should be a good fight
exactly! i think hatton will break collazo down but collazo will put up some type of stuggle before being ko'd
after collazo beat mago and jestered in bs fashion, i would like to see hatton break collazo down slowly and brutally
I think Hatton is going to want to look big in his US debut. He will do whatever it takes to pull out the win if he feels he's losing. I don't know much about Collazo, though if he doesn't have the power to hurt Ricky, Ricky's going to walk right through the shots to get in close to bang to the body or to the head. I see Ricky pulling out a late stoppage in this.
I'll tell you this, Hatton picked the wrong fighter for his first fight in America. Collazo will embarrass him all night. Collazo's slick southpaw style, quick hands and feet, and brilliant technical skill is gonna be too much for Ricky Hatton. Ricky Hatton is moving up in weight against a tall, strong welterweight who posesses a style that he has never faced in the professional ranks. Collazo is the real deal. Collazo can fill the ring up with punches and has incredible stamina. This is just a style that I don't think Hatton can contend with.
Collazo will start quick and win the first 3 rounds. Hatton will come on stronger in the middle rounds and do damage, but Collazo will stand in there and fight Hatton back with his faster hands and punch output. During that stretch, Hatton will suffer a cut that will hamper his fight plan, enabling Collazo to close stronger.
I wouldn't have picked Collazo for my first fight in America. He should have picked Vivian Harris, a man whose style he could shine against. This was a monumental error in management for Ricky Hatton.
