I have notice lately that Goldenboy promotions charges PPV fees for many of their fights which have little appeal and it is making ppl pay just to watch them.
Barrera vs. Peden
Barrera vs. Fana
Ricky Qules vs. Julio Diaz
Vargas vs. Mosley 2
These fights already happene dor are scheduled to and they all are PPV. Golden boy is adding to the garbage HBO use to put out on PPV, in my opinion.
Does anyone else not want to buy Oscar fights because he is so money hungry? I feel that way... The only fight I would buy is Oscar vs Mayweather.
This makes perfect sense, shit!
Jesus Christ...you think Oscar is money hungry...wait until the negotiations start with Junior...you'll see money hungry.
All fighters are money hungry-they fucking punch each other in the face for a living they have a right too go for the money...pointing out Oscar as some sort of money hungry lone wolf is unfair,he is just one of many-understand?
It doesn't matter how many great horses you have in your stabble, if there is nobody to watch there is no more stable.
Imagine if the NFL only had games on PPV...do you really think Football would still be the #1 sport? the answer is NO..why? because only a certain portion of the people in this country can pay for such a thing...what drives the market up is the average guy, and when he has to make a choice to either pay his rent or pay for football, which one do you think he will do
This is a simple case of walking beofre you learn to run or however that fucking saying goes...
As Lou Dibella and Sugar Ray have proven it takes more then just a big name and some cash to make a promotional company work...Oscar and GBP's goal which they have stated is to put boxing back on network television which is great but first things first...
They need to become a profitable promotional company and they are but it takes time...you dont just jump into the business sing a couple of stars and ink a deal with ABC or NBC...(at least I dont think thats how it works)...Give Oscar a break-I think in time he will prove to be awful damn good for this sport not just in the ring but out of it as well.
Some fo you folks need to understand that GBP has been around for just a few short years and they have accomplished a motherfucking ton in that short time period.
Take a look at former HBO kingpin Lou Dibella...do you think he wouldnt give his left and right nuts to own Oscar's stable of fighters and not his own? Lou has also been in the business for a couple years longer too.
Look at the beloved Sugar Ray Leonard...his compnay went bust in no time...
Oscar is the future of the sport, next to Bob Arum there is not a promoter in the world with a deeper talent pool to choose from.
It takes time and as always Oscar is being graded harder then most even though he is doing things at a pace we have not seen before.

Im not saying his stable of fighters aren't great. I fell he is adding to the bullsh!t they put on PPV.
Can't argue with that...
Ta boot it is not like he is helping things by giving his boy Nard one final payday on PPV...
this Tarver vs. Hopkins fight is certainly not for the fans-its for the retiring Bernard Hopkins and his bank account.
This fight will be sold to dipshits who think this is to quote Stephen A. Smith "thee fight in the sport"...but try selling this fight ot cult memebers like us as "thee fight in the sport" we will laugh in your fucking face...we may still buy it but we will still laugh.

Great Point Playa...this guy is making that cash off of crap...I also see Mosley vs Vargas being the only fight worth paying for...You see his name on everything out there now.....mybe he will set his promotion game up in the near future...he as the money to do so...
At least they made Barrera vs. Juarez possible without it being PPV. Yeah my bad on quiles vs. diaz neither are golden boy. I was reading a promotion of the fight and it stated that Diaz was with Golden Boy promotions but it seem he is with Sycuan promotions.....whatever that is.

Yes DLH is clearly whats wrong with Boxing these days.
i think GBP does better matchin no name guys
and bringin up new guys
but when it comes to their already established guys
they do seem like theyre tryin to milk them
I am all for fighters being paid lots of money, but somebody has to realize that boxing is dying in the minds of the "average" guy that walks the street; the average guy is what makes a sport big, he is the person that is "on the fence" with all sports, looking to become a fan of a sport...This guy is what makes guys like Oscar and Tyson lots of money...this guy, is what makes all athletes lots of money.
There will always be those die hard fans that will stick with their sport, but it is the average guy that becomes interested, that fills the large portion of the seats that sell out stadiums, and buy PPVs.
If I am not mistaken, when boxing was big, it was on regular television, kind of like the NFL, MLB, and NBA.
Boxers have to realize, to get paid, you need FANS, and the way to get Fans is EXPOSURE.
Of course this can all be settled with a Leauge that established Rules, a Union, Commissioner, etc.
he's not a good promoter. Brought garbage fights so far IMO.
Hey Manny it was GBP who took over Barerra's career and immediately made the fight with your boy PAC, a fight that Barrera old promoter said he would have never made in a million years.
GBP-started PAC on his road to glory in a way so give a shout out my man!
Vargas Mosley 2 is the only one worth thinkin about. And i mean thinkin hard.
I dont know if it's just me, but Showtime Championship Boxing on Saturdays has been lookin real good lately.
The latest one with Rivera beating Gomez was a great fight, and so was the undercard with the Russian Kirilov getting robbed.
add to that Corrales -vs- Castillo III comin up on June 3rd with Vic Darchinyan on the undercard, those are some good fights for non PPV.

You certaqinly have an argument, especially with Barerra and a couple of his fights-it was just flat out wrong to have him starring in PPV events when his oppoenent was an ESPN caliber fighter.
Are you sure Julio Diaz and Ricky Quiles are Oscar's fighters? Im probably wrong but I cant remember the affiliation with promoters...
If you are going to bring up the bad you must alos bring up some of the positives as well like...
Barerra vs. Pacman on free HBO...but your right GBP needs to do a better job in reaching out to a broader audience if there ultimate goal is in fact as they say "to bring boxing back to network television"
