Just got done watching the fight on DVD. Here is my score.
round 1= 10-9 Oscar
round 2= 10-9 Oscar
round 3= 10-9 Oscar
round 4= 10-9 Tito
round 5= 10-10 even
round 6= 10-9 Oscar
round 7= 10-9 Oscar
round 8= 10-9 Tito
round 9= 10-9 Tito
round 10= 10-9 Tito
round 11= 10-9 Tito
round 12= 109 Tito
total= 115-114 Tito Trinidad
I scored this fight as fare as i possibly could. Oscar did very good early. I scored round 5 even because i couldnt decide who to give it too, obviously lol, but if i had to choose i would say Tito but i think it was even. Tito came on strong in the end. As far as people saying Oscar just decided to stay away the last few rounds, i disagree. Oscar did the same thing the last few rounds he did the whole fight, he was just being hit more and not throwing as much due to being tired from hopping around all night. Very Very close fight, could have gon either way. But Tito was pressing the action, and still won 115-114,but in a close fight like that the fact that Tito was so aggressive and Oscar was moving away so much means a lot. George Foreman said he thought Tito won cause the way Oscar closed the show, Lederman had it even, and Merchant had it 6-5 1 even for Oscar. I had it 115-114, man that was a close fight. Also, i think the right man won.
My comment was pertaining to DLH not deserving the disrespect he's received, but I disagree on him not being a great fighter...
:boxing:
He probablt is a great fighter, he sure as hell is a HOF. but i dont see him in the top 5 all time in any of the classes he fought in.
What I like about him is he can boxe, he can even brawl, he can dish it out, he can take it: he isnt super in none of them but he is good in all of them. He has got a big heart, and his only real problem is stamina.
The thing that pisses me off is when they compare his boxing skills, footwork or defense to great pure boxers, like mayweather or whitaker. The dude is obviously a good boxer but he moves way too much and way too nervously to be effective for a whole fight: in the era of 15 rounders he would not have done so well. Also he used to rely too much on footwork and too little on upper body movement (his shoulder roll does not work that well, btw). Someone said he changed too many trainers: that might be one of the reasons why is not "schooled" the way he could have been.
Honestly, saying Trinidad won this fight would be like me saying Corrales was ahead of Freitas on the cards after 7 rounds. Corrales lost 6 of the first 7 and I would never try to justify him winning up to the point of the knockdowns. GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK, TRINIDAD FANS.
I did not score this fight when I watched it and have not watched it in at least 3 years but can remember being pissed off DLH ran the last 3 rounds but still felt he won the fight 8 rounds to 4..........I think Oscar would easliy beat him in a rematch and maybe even stop him. :boxing:

I bet if you asked all the fighter they both faced, most of them would say De la hoya is a better fighter than Trinidad is, just a few, oba carr, Camacho, Campas, Mayorga, Vargas
lol.....yea because they are all mad that they got knocked the fuck out by a skinny PR guy......thats what they were saying coming in but going out.....DAMN that Tito as some POWER!!!!
HA yes and by the best you mean green versions of vargas and reid along with quartey....right that wasnt made ummm whitikar? oh thats right it was like 98 99 before trinidad fought him ..umm these great fighters your talking about ramos campas? HA! ....oba carr? wasnt never that good ...joppy? he ran from taylor litrally so that aint that great
face it the only 2 uncommon opponets that they didnt both fight that makes a difference is wright ...thats it end of argument
lol...great point playa....ok end of argument...You ride with DLH...I ride with Tito....lol

uhhh remember he already came back once...wright put him back out
delahoya is quicker then wright with more of an offense whats trinidad gonna do when delahoya comes for him?lol
besides the fighters already fought delahoya owned him then he'll prolly own him now
yea but winky has excellent defense while DLH takes a ton of punches. he is old and his head wouldnt allow him to take many of tito's shot. DLH's road to glory is nowhere near Tito's...DLH made alot of money better never fought the same schedule as Tito...you see how that boy moved up in class...unfort. they both got stopped at MW by B Hop...bout other that...Tito's record looks much better than DLH...Tito didnt fight the old, instead he fought only the best....
lol...playa you are funny...Tito is still a far better fighter than DLH is...hands down...go check the mans track record...he is a killa by trade....the trade of boxing that is..I hope he fights DLH again so people like you would be shut up for good...You have to know Don is trying to make it happen as we speak.....he will destroy DLH...simply destroy him...lol all while crying like the punk you say he is...lol

I scored it for De La Hoya EVERY time I saw it. 115-113 to 116-112, I think.
But I am tired, I will never watch it again... they are both overrated, one as a boxer, the other as a brawler.
the only thing that I like about oscar better than tito is that he is more versatile and his fans are USUALLY less obsessed than tito's.
In fact now that I think about it there is one thing I really like about De La Hoya is that there is plenty of people hating him and he does not deserve it.
Great point
dude i stoped crying after i lost when i was like 10 ...i dont wanna hear his excuse for why he couldnt handle loseing...he knew he lost agianst delahoya he wasnt crying then was he? of course not even though he should have doubted himself knowing he'd just gotton his ass whoooped he didnt he took the win and kept on like he was really that good ...hes a cry baby as soon as bhops took it out of the judges hands it was the begaining of the end for him
he went from having comentators compair him to sugar ray robinson after the joppy fight to retireing in his very next fight
can you say .....hype?

playa the dude started out 40-0.....I would have been fucked up had I lost my first fight...you cant handle your first lost after all those wins...come on dog you know how that goes..if you were any kid of athlete that is....maybe not....both loses he get the shit beat out of him no doubt questioning himself came into effect....

dude how do you look in the mirror lmao you cant be serious? the clown crys and runs into hideing everytime he loses im sure he woulda ran scared if the judges wouldnt have been inlaws of don king
those cards were filled out before the fight even started i've seen it time and time agian and everytime i leave thinking "this was suposed to be it huh? the fight of 1000 years ....a mexican pounding a peurterican half to death then playing hide and go seek at the end of it for some unknown mental reason if oscar would have kept up the pressure from the early rounds tito would have been stoped ala agianst hopkins
this fight is like sugar ray leonard vs hagler....the hagler fans all thought he was gonna just come in and knock leonard out by looking at him but when leonard fought back and started clowning hagler hagler didnt know what to do
same exact thing with oscar vs trinidad
only trinidad go the nod because of king

sorry playa...you must not have watched the same fight...he looked worried because HE knew it was a close and it could have went either way...Don King is a paper chaser and thats what Tito got....HIS PAPER...If they were to fight again it would be a TKO via Tito in the early rounds....

Different Judges score fights differently. Some emphasize on different aspects that others don't. I give DLH a slight edge in this fight, bc the rounds that DLH won, he definetely won, while the rounds that Tito won, were close. I gave rounds 2, 4, 10, 11, 12 to Tito with round nine being a even round.
But the point here is that DLH officially lost, it is not the only decision in boxing that has caused havoc. DLH lost to Sturm but was gifted the decision, he lost to Mosely, Chavez has been gifted decisions, and many other fighters have won fights that were questionable.
The lack of heart that DLH showed is what makes me not like him. It almost seemed as if he said to himself "damn this fu**er hits hard, let me stay away from him". Who decides to run for 4 rounds especially when the crowd is booing you?
