He's going to go out there, and fight Mayorga like a man.
Oh man I'm going to die because I'm looking foward to this fight more than any fight in recent memory.
Jesus H. Christ what a war we might have on our hands.
What do you think? Can he beat Mayorga at his own game? or will he have to pussyfoot around like he's been doing.

If Oscar wins I don't think it puts him up that many places. But if Mayorga wins he goes into top 10 for sure :boxing: :boxing:
What if Mayorga knocked Oscar out....then took Roman Karmazin's title from him like candy?
Then I'd surely have to put him in the top ten P4P. Easily.

I just want to see a great fight.
Question:
Where does Mayorga rank on a P4P scale if he knocks Oscar out? Or maybe Vice Versa?

Oscar may not look tough, but he knows how to kick the bullys ass. Ex. Fernando Vargas...

*Mayorga showing his scars*
Unlike Oscar.......I don't play with dolls.
God, that had me in stitches.

Yeah, I remember that discussion. I just saw this stuff last night and I was suprised, even for Mayo, that he'd go to that degree. Every time I just about 'forget' some of the crap he's said, he goes and makes me hate him all over again. Lol, even my kid is in the habit of calling him "Pig Mayorga"....I dont even know if she remembers his real name anymore :D
He's an asshole.
But that's innate in his personality. I'm starting to really believe he is who he is.......and that's not a show.
I think he's great for boxing.
At first I thought he was a pretentious asshole that was trying to get attention by making ridiculous statements.
Now I just believe he's mean, and accepted it. LMFAO.
Someone once said: "Boxing needs Mayorga. The bad guy has to be around...or else things get boring".
I now fully agree with that statement.

You know what? Remember we had this discussion before?
My sediments towards Mayorga have been changing drastically. He's said some things to the Spanish media that I really liked....and he's making me like him.
I could never forgive the statements about Spinks dead mother, or him calling Forrest a Pendejo after knocking him out:
but either way, time heals wounds.
I think either King told him to lighten up in a way....or he's maturing. Because believe it or not....he's not as bad as he used to be.
The personal attacks don't bother me anymore, and in some ways they are quite entertaining.

Hope so, very very much! I'm not a big Oscar fan, but Pig Mayorga just goes too far, and unnecessairly so. This fight would sell just fine without insulting the mans wife. Ya know, Mayo should be a little more grateful for the money making opp. he's getting just by stepping in the damn ring...nobody brings in the ppv sales like Oscar does (out of the heavy wt. anyway) This is the biggest payday he could hope for, but I hope Oscar spanks him bad.

Oscar is going to box the shit out of Mayorga, but it should be extremely entertaining. I think Oscar may even drop Mayorga late in the fight. Oscar by comfortable, yet exciting, decision.

I can't stand De La Hoya, but he's done his part to make boxing big again (since the Fabulous Four). Think about it. Almost ever year since 1999 Oscar has consistently made the biggest fight he could that helped put boxing back on the spotlight that year. Trinidad in 99, Mosley in 00, Vargas in 02, Mosley again in 03, Hopkins in 04, and now Mayorga in 06. Shit, he might even fight Mayweather next, which is why I want DLH to win.
On the other hand, who doesn't love Mayorga? I'm all for him winning as long as it's by a knockout.
Shame we never got to see Mayorga-Vargas and probably won't.
Im gonna put the countdown on youtube for the people that only got basic cable and couldnt see it :boxing:
Im gonna split it in two files
Thanks.
I wanted to watch it again, and maybe once more.

Also, as it was discussed a couple of pages ago in this thread, the HBO preview for this fight really got me siked. I just don't understand why ESPN doesn't run previews like this on one of their 2,000 stations. I was watching this preview with a friend of mine who doesn't like boxing but after watching it he was like "man, I want to see that fight now!"
If ESPN would stop showing shit like the world juggling championships (no lie, I was home sick and they had two hours of juggling... what the hell) and show previews of big fights like this, maybe boxing would become more mainstream. Can't ESPN cut down their poker coverage from 8 hours a day to 6 and fit 2 hours of boxing coverage. Boxing happens everyday, all day yet the only thing you'll ever see is if a heavyweight "title" fight is taking place. I have friends who don't watch boxing b/c they say "boxing sucks now... who's even the heavyweight champion?" I try to explain that only the heavyweights suck... the rest of boxing in the lower weights is exceptional.
And why aren't weigh-ins shown? The only weigh-in I remember being shown was 5 minutes of the Ruiz-Jones Jr. weigh-in on ESPNews. And they cut that off before it was even finished. I mean come on ESPN, how many interviews can you have with Barry Bonds, Yankee players, Kobe Bryant or Terrell Owens in a day? They should have a 30 minute show a day that covers that week's fights, talk about big fights and then show clips of some up-and-comers. That way, people who only know heavyweights will get to know more of the real players in boxing and will be more interested in seeing their fights.
Sorry for the rant.
If you have satellite, would you be able to pick up TSN from Canada? They have a boxing show called "In this corner" with Russ Anber. This is TSNs boxing schedule ... http://www.tsn.ca/boxing/tv_schedule.asp?sport=BOXING

I'd be suprized if he elects to fight that way, because it wouldn't be very smart.
He doesn't have the power Tito used to break him down.
Oscar should pump the jab, and set up the hook. He doesn't need to run, just attack in spots and counter.
I definitely think he should fight smart as well, but I think Oscar could do ok on the inside. Even though he doesn't have Tito's power, he's smarter about going to the body. Tito would have had Mayorga out of there much earlier if he threw to the body more often. Oscar is pretty smart about doing that kind of thing. This fight is at a lighter weight and Mayorga may be in better shape, so maybe he won't have the same stamina problem.
"It should be entertaining no matter how Oscar fights because Mayorga is insane."
This statement is the most accurate description of this fight. They should advertise the fight with this. :)
At 154 DLH is no where near a fast as he was at 140-147, plus he's coming back from over a year off i think. I dont see him outboxing mayorga by a landslide because mayorga is pretty fast and has amazing stamina,no matter how much of a "Great boxer" you are, you cant keep a man away for even 6rounds when you and him are very much alike in body size and keeps pressing foward. Mayorga is gonna bull rush him,its gonan be a great fight. I am pulling for mayroga for the upset but know odds are greatly in favor of DLH. Cant wait :boxing:
mayorga is an unpradicable vargas. de la hoya just has to box him in the middle of the round use his jab. (a jab jab right like his special in fight night 3)
Yeah I'm torn.
two different points of note however:
1. Oscar better cash the checks he wrote with his statements.
2. Mayorga better come prepared for a good fight.
Or else I'm going to pull a Bo Jackson with my Keyboard.
exactly oscar opened his mouth and needs to back it up
mayo hopefully trained like they said he has so he is ready to war for 12 if needed
