With just a little more than a month before Marco faces Rocky at the Staples Center, one would have thought that embers (of threads and discussions) are already glowing on BoxingScene, if not already aflame. Why not?
Is it a symptom of the diminishing pull of MAB?
Juarez is not exactly a Fana or a Cesar Najera (the latter fought MAB in 1999 in Indio, CA. Barrera was at first declared KO4 winner, but the fight was re-classified to an "exhibition", or, officially, a "No Contest", when it was discovered that Najera was MAB's sparmate.) And, it's not as if nobody knows Rocky (some even knows him enough to hate him).
Juarez has registered wins over Zahir Raheem and Hector Velasquez as well as stopped Frankie Archuleta-- not superstars but neither are they patsies to pad his record.
What gives?:)
I really wasn't thrilled with Juarez until I saw the fight with Soto. In that fight he was tested & he could've folded & gave up but he kept trying to KO him. He even had Soto in trouble & sustained his punching power through the fight. I liked the desire & heart I saw in him during that fight & I think that fight taught him alot. He's got legitimate one punch KO power & MAB better be very cautious. He punches very well to the body & head & doesn't have a bad chin. I think he's a live underdog in this fight & has a good chance of pulling the upset.
Exactly. He had Soto stunned a few times in the later rounds. And that Rocky was only throwing left hooks. When he puts his punchs to the head and body he is a differnt fighter, a better fighter.
I expect Rocky to fight his heart out in a war with Barrera and to see Rocky come out on top. :boxing:
I think the reason is cuz most don't view Rocky as a serious threat mostly cuz of his loss to Soto who was a relative unknown and a clear underdog. He does have a chance he's a good fighter with power but I still think that MAB schools him on his way to a wide decision.

The probababilty of this being a mismatch for the more experienced and polished Barrera may have something to do with the lack of buzz. Plus, I don't think that the general boxing public knows who Rocky Juarez is.
rocky has a bit of buzz, he was on espn a few times and he has a big time promoter. he would have been on the espn ppv if he wasnt injured i believe.
i think that raheem clearly beat jaurez and the ref did everything on his power to get the hometown kid a decsion. he took points for no reason at all. i think that this has soured him in some peoples eyes, that and his loss to soto. if anything they have def raised some question marks..
its too early for rocky, mab is going to fana him...

I think its going to be a great fight. I really like what Ive seen of Rocky, hes an exciting fighter. I dont know who wants to see Barrera-Pac II. The result is obvious...
or maybe the promoters themselves are too damn lazy to promote tha fight
de la hoya is to buissy with his own fight to get out there. b-hop is in traning. mosely is on vacation. so not much left in form of good speakers to this fight from golden boy
We already know that that Pacquiao, Morales, Raheem, Freitas, all have dates already set, so who would you have liked to see him fight?
I don't really have a quarrell with him fighting Juarez, I think it will be an exciting fight. But that doesn't mean its gonna be a very high publicity fight. It's gonna be an interesting fight.
The Barrera-Juarez fight isn't getting too much attention because this is not the fight that the public wants to see Barrera in. The public wants to see Pacquiao-Barrera II, and Barrera can't make any significant noise until that fight materializes. Also, Juarez isn't the most worthy challenger, and it simply doesn't grab the attention of the public. But it shoud be a exciting fight...

Barrera is getting over the hill, but Juarez still can't handle Barrera's pressure. A meaningless, but probably entertaining, fight....
You're under rating the importance of this fight.
Barrera has plans to seek revenage against Pacquiao so its a must to defeat Juarez, but Juarez has other plans.
Juarez has to win. He lost in his first title oppertunity when many had high hopes for him after winning the title. Juarez loses and its a major set back and will be on the back burner for awhile if he doesn't succed in defeating Barrera.
Its a must win for both guys.
doomsday
barrera will lose this fight only because he will pressure juarez and juarez is one of the youngest best counter puncher in that weight class... not saying barrera isn,t a champion but if he fights juarez fight he will lose but if he uses his jab in which he,s a great jabber the fight will be easy for marco just that simple...
Some people on this board, or maybe many people on this board belive Barrera is too much for Rocky Juarez. Rocky Juarez is a very good fighter. He may have lost to Soto cause he got too left hook happy. But I hear he now starts off quick and ko'd both his last two opponets.
When Rocky works both the body and head, he is unstoppable. the thing with Rocky is somtimes his too relaxed in the ring. Hes one of the calmest fighters out their. But out of nowhere he strikes with his heavy left hook and a steady attack.
I expect Rocky to defeat Barrera. Check out my sig and you will see Im rooting for Rocky to defeat Barrera.
I am among those who think that, if Rocky comes to fight, this is going to be a good fight. Juarez is always dangerous if he puts his all into the job. I am not saying Barrera is weak chinned, but he has found himself on the mat a number of times. With that said, I add that, to say that Barrera is very skilled is to say that Michaelangelo was a house painter. ;) MAB has been known to deal with power well. Very well.
So, I am waiting for the 20th of next month.
overshawdow by the fights that are to come sooner. when it gets closer the talk will startYup, that could be. But, I noticed that there's more talk here about what should be and what should have been in terms of matches that it's a surprise that a match that has been made is not getting more attention than matches that are not yet definite, e.g., there are more threads about DLH-PBF, PBF-Margarito, etc. matches, while in the past couple of days that I have dropped in on this site, I saw not a squeak of Barrera-Juarez.
Given that PBF just won over Zab can be the reason about threads aplenty about future PBF matches. But there are other speculative threads. There's even one about a fight in the Philippines between guys, that I am sorry to say, I have not heard of.
I just saw it as a bit odd, buddy.
